Re: [MSX] MSX without slots?
Hi, there is an option for a new MSX without having to adhere to legacy hardware. Look at the Castle Iyonix computer (http://www.iyonix.com). It is a new hardware based RISC PC (XScale, PCI, USB, Gigabit ethernet, etc), which runs RISC OS. For old software (in this case the problem is 26bit versus 32bit), an emulator is used, which runs on the Iyonix. Probably a 'new' MSX (if it ever comes that far) will be like this as well, so the USB cartridge interface is a logical step. I don't think it's true for most japanese people, but for _all_ people.. but I admit, there are nuances in japanese culture that even after years working with them, I still do not understand. But what I noticed about japanese (or koreans) which deal with westerns a lot, they tend to become more direct.. they take a bit of the western attitude to them, maybe just to be polite, maybe because they like it.. I don't know, but some japanese can be pretty straight forward, which comes as a surprise to most prejudiced westerners ("japanese? oh , they must be very polite and indirect"... BS!) Indeed, it is best to state exactly what you mean, so there can be no confusion. And I am not _not_ supporting MSX.. I am just being realistic.. I would buy a new MSX, for the fun of it, but I don't see MSX becoming a success in the future, that's all I said.. and there's a lot of difference between commercial success and success for geeks.. I'm simply stating the facts... people who are developing s/w should go on of course, but I can imagine more and more developers dropping out, because it is just not worth the effort, developing for a small crowd.. it is a hobby after all, and sometimes you have to put priorities.. The TR has great hardware (for its time), but nearly no software for it. If a new MSX is made, it should be certain that there will be software for it, which uses all of its features... a new MSX is useless if you are only running the old software on it that was my point..
