[MLO] Re: Custom flag autoformat assignment rules | Feature needed

2019-05-01 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
yes, I agree that this would speed up the process.
What I'm really missing in MLO is setting up task properties in the task
text - which you have mentioned.
In many other task managers (Todoist, Marvin, and probably most others) if
while writing task you start typing "@context", the context gets assigned.
Similar with few other properties.
I think scripting language might cover this feature nicely, with some
additional functionality, but this is up to developers to decide, if this
is worth the effort.

Regards,
Domas

[MLO] Re: Custom flag autoformat assignment rules | Feature needed

2019-04-30 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
but how would you use these autoformated flags? As far as I can see there
are only two options:

   - visual use - flags would be used to convey some information about a
   task
In this case, the icons should perfectly do the job, as there is no
   further interaction with task's properties.
   - automated use - the flags would be used for filtering/grouping of
   tasks.
In this case, the same rule which were to be used to assign autoformated
flags, can be used to make the filtering.

The scripting case might be slightly different, because probably it would
give more flexibility.
However I imagine that to implement the full scripting language into a
product is a huge task.
In my opinion, because MLO is already the most advanced task manager on the
market, it should now be going towards the usability updates (to have web
version, for example), not more advanced and geeky features.

Hi Laurence,
just wanted to double-check, did you try Andrei's offered solution - to
call Google Assistant via widget?
I had exactly the same problem and none of other solutions worked.
However it seemed that Google widget called a different version of Google
Assistant, which had the possibility to change default apps.
Cheers.

Hi David,
thanks.
Ok, that might be promising :)
But how can you change the note taking app? In the link it says "press on
that text "take a note", however it's inactive in my phone.

After I register any note, it saves it into its own note app (which is very
rudimentary, you can read more about it here:
https://9to5google.com/2018/10/23/google-assistant-lists-notes/).
There's no possibility to disable or delete this app, as far as I know,
because it's a part of Google Assistant.
Thanks!

Thanks for the reply Andrew,
however, after saying "take a note" I only see this screen (attached below)
without a possibility to press on it and choose an app.

I understand this is not a MLO question, but just keep this in mind, as I
suspect this might be due to a newer version of Google Assistant? So it
might become relevant for more users. It's also annoying how Google (or
Samsung) changed the software - now the notes functionality is absolutely
useless.
In addition, of course, I would really like to use the new MLO
functionality :)
Thanks!

2018-12-18 Thread domas . voroneckas
Thanks, that looks very useful!

I wanted to check with you for some advice: on my Samsung Galaxy Note 8,
Google Assistant doesn't register MLO as an note taking app. Instead, if I
say "Ok Google, take a note" it opens a proprietary note taking app and
creates a note there. Any ideas how to change it?
All my searches find the old Google Assistant version, where it's possible
to change the default app, after asking it to "take a note". Now it just
asks "what is the note" and registers in its own app.
I understand that it's not directly related to MLO Android, but I can't use
this voice functionality, which I find very useful!
Thank you.

Re: [MLO] Re: Recurring tasks with only start date

2018-09-26 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
I'm also only using start dates, here's why:

   - for the tasks that have a specified duration, I use Calendar
   - most of my tasks have "Due" dates, which are totally created by me. In
this case, the "Overdue" task seems like a false alert.
   - Many tasks makes sense only in a specific timeframe, so I don't want
them to appear in my to do list earlier.
   - Due date encourages last minute problem solving. I want to set up the
earliest time when I can work with a task and then see it in my list and
   not wait until it's Due.
   - yes, every task theoretically have a Due date, however for daily task
management most of these dates are not important. As in the example above,
I don't care that task will become irrelevant when "my daughter finishes
school and leaves home". If I decide to dedicate some time to "consider
enrolling my daughter in a new sports club" for tomorrow, I will specify
the Start date as Tomorrow. It will appear in the list then, and will stay
until I will complete or potspone it.

 Cheers.

Thanks!
Just could you detail the process a bit more?
How can I keep both Folders with their icons and other tasks without an
icon? How should I set up the Automatic formatting? (My current requirement
is that "Hide the branch in To-Do" tasks would have no icon.
Thank you!

[MLO] Do not display checkbox in MLO for Windows

2018-09-20 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
I'm using MLO also for references and information storing, so for many
items checkbox simply doesn't make sense (there's never a case when I would
like to "complete" an information item).
Is it possible to remove checkbox from a task?

I have tried to play with Conditional formatting, but couldn't do it.
For example, if "Folder" property is selected, the checkbox disappears and
turns into a folder icon.
However, when I tried to replicate this using "Hide the branch in To-Do"
property (or a Context) it didn't work.

Am I the only one who doesn't like to see check boxes near non task items?

Thank you!

[MLO] Re: Filter set up: show tasks from a specific folder

2018-09-08 Thread domas . voroneckas
Ok, thank you.
I'm using grouping by context in the views, so that might mess up this. But
that's an option.

I was expecting something in the Advanced filtering setup like
"Parent(Parent())" or "IsBelowFolder".
Other easy option would be just to drag out my Folder 2 to root hierarchy
and then use "TopLevelFolderName".

Thanks for the help.

[MLO] Re: Filter set up: show tasks from a specific folder

2018-09-07 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
thank you for your help.
There is one issue with this solution - as I've written in my initial post
"I managed to do it showing hierarchy, but* I just want a simple list with
only active tasks*."
I prefer to have just a list of tasks when looking at to-do list, as the
hierarchy makes the view much more cluttered and usually I know already
which project/folder the task is coming from.
That's why I wanted to achieve this with Advanced filtering, but couldn't
manage to do.

Best regards,
Domas

Hi,
thanks for the reply.
I have built a simple example tree (below).

I want to select *Folder 2* as my source folder and see all "Active Task -
want to see" tasks in the to-do list.
But I don't want to see "Active task - don't want to see" task, because
it's in the different folder.
I hope that's clearer now.

[MLO] Filter set up: show tasks from a specific folder

2018-09-06 Thread domas . voroneckas
Hi,
I wanted to accomplish a simple thing (at least I thought it would be
simple):
*Show a to-do list, with the active tasks only from a specific folder.*

A couple of conditions:

   - It shouldn't be a root folder (I want to have some flexibility, where
   to put it)
   - It should be able to have a hierarchy inside it (Obviously. That's the
point of it - if I would want just to have a simple list, I don't need a
to-do list). My to-do list should pick out the active tasks from the
   subfolders.

That's it. It looked simple, but I couldn't manage to do it.
If I specify "ParentName" in the condition - the rule doesn't return tasks
from subfolders.
If I specify "TopLevelParentName" - I cannot move this folder anywhere else
outside the top level.
I managed to do it showing hierarchy, but I just want a simple list with
only active tasks.

Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Regards,
Domas
