Re: [neonixie-l] Re: B7971's on the bay....

2020-04-05 Thread Jon Jackson
You still have to be careful with these all-segments-lit-up photos, as I
think it would be a great way to disguise the fact that multiple segments
could be stuck on together. I have of couple of B-7971s that have two
segments that come on together due to some kind of internal short, and no
amount of "banging" to the tube breaks up the short.

Re: [neonixie-l] Master list of oddball symbols?

2020-01-24 Thread Jon Jackson
Hmmm...

Perhaps my spreadsheet has them swapped. I see your are correct for the
B-54364 from http://www.swissnixie.com/index.php?tubeID=B54364

I have a few B-54364s and one B-54365 according to my entries. I can see I
need to find them and light them up...

Cheers

Bill,

Yeah, I've gone to the Balloon Fiesta quite a few times in the mornings for
the mass ascensions plus the balloon glows in the evenings (called a
Glowdeo). I've been up in a hot air balloon three times over the years, I
see hot air balloons down in the valley majority of early mornings as well
(from 1 to 20) throughout the year, even in the summer.

Re: [neonixie-l] Re: The Light Clock Kickstarter

2016-04-21 Thread Jon Jackson
Normally, I would do exactly what you suggest. I sent them an email with
no response so far. But the visual quality is sooo friggin' bad I don't
care at this point. It is so bad it comes across like a scam. Perhaps
they would have done something had I wasted more time on them, and perhaps
and probably not. Don't care any more. Now I just want to warn people to
not buy their sh*t since they're taking pre-orders for an online store.

Another interesting tidbit is that the maker is in Melbourne, Australia
(which may be why no email response yet, but I don't care). But the
package came from Germany. WTF?!! The package had not been opened. There
was only on piece of tape across the box that had not been removed or
resealed (i.e. so it does not appear Customs could be at fault).

Like I said before, I have never had any problem with any
Kickstarter...until now. I've heard a few horror stories about Indiegogo,
but I've even received a few hardware items from some of their makers with
no issues. But now I'm in one from Kickstarter.

Moving on...nothing more to see here.

I've tried to contact Dalibor this morning early (my time) over email
regarding the subject PDF file, but he may be busy or off somewhere. And I
looked on his various sites and googled as well, bit so far no joy.

Does anyone have a copy of the Solitube Kit PDF Assembly Guide that they
could send me? I wanted to get started on my kit today now that my wife is
out of town and I have the weekend to work on it (and hopefully surprise
her), and then I realized I didn't have the PDF.

 Thanks,

 Jon

2014-07-21 Thread Jon Jackson
Marcin,

I did get it downloaded. I was initially trying to use my Chrome browser
when the invalid zip file messages started, but I had to go to IE which
worked. Then I got the Dropbox prompting for my account password. It
downloaded fine and I am able to open it now. That was weird.

Thx,

Jon

Jon, I have re-downloaded that zip and it looks all right. Opened it with

permissions. Please try once more. If it sill doesn't work I will figure
 out another way.

It's not just the Soviet Union where things like this happen. Look at
 China.

I once purchased a pair of identical Nerf guns which were sold in the same
package, as a gift for my son. One was orange and the other was green.

After a couple weeks, he wanted to modify the guns. Specifically, he
wanted to combine green parts and orange parts to make a two-tone gun.

I dutifully helped him disassemble the guns and tried to mate the orange
left side with the green right side. However, they wouldn't fit.

It turns out that the company had used two entirely different molds, cut
to approximately but not exactly the same shape, to make the two guns that
were sold in the same retail package.

Explain that, O masters of mass production!

Jon,

I see in your recent post on neonixie-l that you said I believe I
have one clock kit left, in case anyone's interested. Can you point
me to a description and cost of your clock kit? A google search did
not point me to anything like a detailed description. Thanks.

I am interested in the Full Neon Jacket Chessboard Kit based on my

haven't counted them lately, so I'll go for the Full Neon Jacket kit.

Thanks for the response! Congrats on the overwhelming response to
