[NTG-context] \doifinstring: strange characters on the output
Hi all, I noticed that \doifinstring produces quite strange output if a command follows immediately (or with any amount of spaces) after the substring I am searching for: -MWE \starttext \def\xxx{asdf \bf Z:\bf asdf} % strange \def\xxx{asdf \bf Z: \bf asdf}% strange \def\xxx{asdf \bf Z:: \bf asdf} % OK \def\xxx{asdf \bf Z: text \bf asdf} % OK \def\xxx{asdf \bf Z:{} \bf asdf} % OK \doifinstring{Z:}{\xxx}{yes!} \stoptext --OUTPUT fbf@yes! fbf@yes! yes! yes! yes! If I insert another character, text or {} between them (with or without spaces), all is ok. I would like to ask what is the cause of this behavior and how to use the \doifinstring to prevent the "fbf@" on the output. [NTG-context] typing+framedtext: different behaviour between TL2017 and 2019
Hi all, if I compile the following (minimised) code with ConTeXt from TL2017, I receive expected result -- one framed gray box with correct width. \starttext\showframe \defineframedtext[MPT][background=color,backgroundcolor=gray,width=\makeupwidth,frame=on,offset=1cc,] \setuptyping[MP][before={\startMPT},after={\stopMPT},] \startMP bla \stopMP \stoptext Now I tried it with ConTeXt from TL2019 (TL2018 produces the same result as TL2019) and I have got _two_ boxes -- the outer one is correct and frames the typing environment as in the past whereas the new box frames the text inside the typing. Unfortunately, both boxes seems to be controlled by the \defineframedtext[MPT] which caused that the inner box runs outside the typesetting area, i.e. the left offset value is applied twice. I found out that it is related with the given name MP. Therefore, I renamed it to another name (it was ok) but after adding "option=mp" I came across the same problem. Is there any way how to define behaviour of both boxes in the existing \startMP environment apart? Or is it not possible? [NTG-context] Bad cooperation between \unit and TABLE
Hi all, I came across the problem with bad aligment of cells in natural tables (longer MWE below): When I use \unit for better typesetting of units, lines 6, 6a, 8 and 9 are sloppy-aligned -- first, the alignmentcharacter is ignored, secondly the very huge space appears between e.g. m and 2. It seems that it happens at any time when the exponent in any form is required. Moreover, the line 11 is also sloppy-aligned as a consequence of the use of \unit|\high commands because if the line 2a is active, the alignment position is computed properly and the line 11 is ok. Re: [NTG-context] Strange behaviour of TABLE with \currentTABLErow
Hi Wolfgang, thank you for your reply. The split=repeat -- my fault, sorry. But -- surprisingly -- this mistake helped me along understanding the problem. I discovered -- if head and next head are defined -- that the "line number 1" servers for the opening head at the beginning of a table whereas "line number 2" is used for all "next heads" at all pages of the table. So the problem is reduced to substracting one or two for only heads and head+next heads, respectively. Best wishes, Tomáš P. S. One possible solution can be e.g.: \newcount\myrow \def\currentTABLEbodyrow{\def\takenumber##1{\myrow=##1\advance\myrow-2 \the\myrow}\takenumber\currentTABLErow} The number of rows is now determined by the number of all rows # (including header and footer) and the counting starts also from the first # row in the table independent of the type of the row. [NTG-context] Strange behaviour of TABLE with \currentTABLErow
Hi all, at https://wiki.contextgarden.net/Command/currentTABLEcolumn I learnt about \currentTABLErow etc. for counting lines in natural tables. If I add \bTABLEnext (below), I receive very strange result -- both heads are at the beginning of the table and both counted. Moreover, the "next" head is not used on the following pages. \starttext\setupTABLE[split=yes] \bTABLE \bTABLEhead\bTR\bTH head \eTH\eTR\eTABLEhead \bTABLEnext\bTR\bTH next head \eTH\eTR\eTABLEnext \bTABLEbody \dorecurse{100}{\bTR\bTD \currentTABLErow xxx \eTD\eTR} \eTABLEbody \eTABLE \stoptext I tried \TC and \TD instead of \TH, also without success. Re: [NTG-context] spacing
Hi, I solve the same problem for ages... I decided for fixed time points related with new edition of TeXlive. Advantages: TeXlive versions (from my point of view) are most stable. You really can compile your files repeatedly getting the same result. Disadvantages: You have to store all TeXlive editions. All TeXlive editions are space demanding. You have make notes on your files/projects which version was used. You cannot use new features if you are going to refresh the project. This is my way but maybe there is something better. [NTG-context] xtables: horizontal splitting

[NTG-context] Questions to font family Pagella
Hi all, I am doing some first tests with fonts (related with our font testing intentions) and I found out that since 2015 there are two sets of files for pagella with the same metadata by otfinfo -i. Eg.: 152192 /usr/local/texlive/2018/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/newpx/TeXGyrePagellaX-Regular.otf 144472 /usr/local/texlive/2018/texmf-dist/fonts/opentype/public/tex-gyre/texgyrepagella-regular.otf The only one difference is in the license note: "Copyright 2013--2015 Michael Sharpe for added superior figures, letters and symbols." at files from newx directory. 1. Why the distribution (TL 2018) contains two versions of the same font family? 2. How can I recognise which one was used for the document after \setupbodyfont[pagella]? 3. On my disk I have got also one older version (1.011) of pagella (I do not where I took it from) which contains more(!) characters than the current one (2.004) where eg. the subset of cyrillic characters is missing... Why the newer version contains less? Re: [NTG-context] Questions to PDF/A compliant documents: missing ICC files? -- II.
Hi all, I would like to open the PDF/A topic once more. First, I would like to thank Alan, Luigi, Pablo and Henri for their pieces of help and information. Summary: (a) where I can find the set of original default*.icc files, # Alan: /usr/local/share/color/icc/ghostscript This must be dependent on the version of operating system or on something else because on computers I have permission to work on no this subtree is present. # Luigi: tex/texmf-context/colors/icc In standalone versions I tried during March and April and Pablo in June, there is really this special directory but we found there only one of the files -- default_gray.icc. Other default*.icc files (default_cmyk.icc, default_rgb.icc) which are mentioned at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/PDF/A were not present. Similarly at http://www.eci.org/en/downloads. # Henri: http://dl.contextgarden.net/misc/iccprofiles/complete_ICC_profiles.zip Good deal -- here one can really find all three default*.icc files mentioned at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/PDF/A, but with no visible link to the mentioned zipfile from this page. (b) what is the reason why these files are not included in the TeXlive and garden installations, (c) if it is possible to add it there for future, and # Luigi: They are not included in texlive for some copyright issues. What is the difference between texlive copyright approach and context standalone copyright approach? I read a few documents about licences for icc files and it seemed to me that the redistribution is possible, for non-commercial use without restrictions, the redistributor is obliged only to add the corresponding licence document to the software containing the icc file(s) and must not change the name of the file(s). So, is possible to add the missing two default*.icc files to the context standalone version? (d) if the produced PDF (with \setupbackend[format={pdf/a-1b:2005}...]) is PDF/a compliant when these icc files are not present and the whole content of the document is only in black (i.e. no grayscale, no colours). # No reaction. :-) This question is important only if the default*.icc files are not (will not be) present and used when the PDF file is generated. Has somebody got any idea whether the PDF/A without icc files is accepted as PDF/A or not? [NTG-context] Questions to PDF/A compliant documents: missing ICC files?
Hi all, at http://wiki.contextgarden.net/PDF/A I found the following: " In ConTeXt mkiv, in order to create such a compliant PDF/A file, one can do as follows: first install (or check that they are present) the following color profiles files default_cmyk.icc default_gray.icc default_rgb.icc ISOcoated_v2_300_eci.icc into tex/texmf-context/colors/icc/profiles of your Context standalone directory. The default_*.icc files are part of ghostscript... " So I checked that they are present (CentOS 6.6, GPL Ghostscript 8.70) and I discovered that these files are not present at any ConTeXt (or TeX) installation from TeXlive neither as separate files, nor at file context/colors/icc/context/colorprofiles.xml. Only default_gray.icc is present as a part of ConTeXt installations from our garden. Therefore, I would like to ask (a) where I can find the set of original default*.icc files, (b) what is the reason why these files are not included in the TeXlive and garden installations, (c) if it is possible to add it there for future, and (d) if the produced PDF (with \setupbackend[format={pdf/a-1b:2005}...]) is PDF/a compliant when these icc files are not present and the whole content of the document is only in black (i.e. no grayscale, no colours). Our university decided to be "PDF/a compliant", that is the reason why I am asking.
