How to install it ? urpmi omdv-build-iso (it may not be released for 2014.0/1 due to QA testing). Re: [OM Cooker] ISOs for 2014.0 RC release
Unfortunately, I was able to try out the ISO only today ... On three different systems and until now, I have no system with the beta version installed all systems, where i tried to install the RC, are stopped on three points. The only possible operation is the ESC key. all the systems report the same three rows: [OK] Started Show plymouth Boot Screen [OK] Reached target Paths. [OK] Reached target Basic System On Noteboot (i7 +8G ram + nvidia) i tried the boot.and also this test was fail . After a while on the tre dots system halt on dracut. The system is frozen, I can not do anything. frankly I find it strange a fail so extended. I usually use as installation media, memory sticks, I'll try to do them again . When i will be able to get more information I will fill a bug report. Re: [OM Cooker] Localisation, Cooker, and Bugzilla
Hello, we have already imported Italian localization by Mandriva to OpenMandriva Linux. When there is an import error, you can open the file with poedit, and it will show you where is the syntax error. I have usually found a n to remove, on translations. A very important question is, how will be used these files? and Who will insert the right files, really used, and still valid, on transifex? I don't think all the files imported are useful. Another question is OpenMandriva in transifex has two project OpenMandriva Linux Drakxtools-Guide. Drakxtools-Guide must be translated? the files in it are the ones who will use OpenMandriva? Who have to request a new language? I think would be useful to have all the projects, inside of Transifex OpenMandriva, already prepared with a minimum set of languages ready to be translated. We could use loomio to vote, the minimum set of languages. Thank you and Ciao --- Davide_01 http://www.linux-corner.it Il 2014-03-14 08:31 Maik Wagner ha scritto: On 03/14/2014 02:17 AM, Robert Xu wrote: Hi all, Because of rebranding, there are a large number of bugs that pertain to locale issues. Maik has taken them on, and I know a transifex has been set up. Are updated translations being copied from Transifex to the packages? Is there a process for that? Should locale bugs be put in their own Locale category for convenience? Hello Robert, glad you bring up this topic. As far as copying files from Transifex is concerned, most of the 2011 translation are still in Mandriva's old transifex instance which is at http://transifex.mandriva.com [1] Unfortunately I didn't find a way how to get the old files from Mandriva's Transifex to the new instance. I emailed Mandriva SA about this and they gave me some information about a Transifex client. There is an issue about transferring files in OpenProject and to be honest I can't resolve this problem all by myself and I do need some assistance. So far what I did was copying the German files by uploading them manually. This worked for most packages but some gave error messages and failed during the Upload and I honestly do not know how our developers are going to pick up the translations. Some localization bugs (like the Homerun-topic) could be resolved and this has been done by informing upstream KDE-homerun-project to pick up our stuff. On a final note: If we don't get localization right we will be losing a lot of our audience and I think the localisation issue is vital if we truly want to have something like a global distribution. Have a good day, Maik Links: -- [1] http://transifex.mandriva.com
Re: [OM Cooker] Localisation, Cooker, and Bugzilla
I absolutely agree with you I wanted to tell you that for every project included in Transifex, it would be nice, right away, ask for a translation in different languages without waiting for someone to ask. An example for the project draktool has not yet been requested the Italian language. --- Davide_01 http://www.linux-corner.it Il 2014-03-14 09:26 Maik Wagner ha scritto: Hello Davide, On 03/14/2014 09:05 AM, davide.garatti@linux-corner.itwrote: Hello, we have already imported Italian localization by Mandriva to OpenMandriva Linux. I don't think all the files imported are useful. A lot of them contain old source strings: As an example there is still talk of Mandriva 2012 (Bernie Lomax) in the source language (English). Another question is OpenMandriva in transifex has two project OpenMandriva Linux Drakxtools-Guide. Drakxtools-Guide must be translated? the files in it are the ones who will use OpenMandriva? I think would be useful to have all the projects, inside of Transifex OpenMandriva, already prepared with a minimum set of languages ready to be translated. Re: [OM Cooker] Handbook for 2014.0
Hi, I have requested the Transifex.com access, to help italian localization. a little contribute ... About my manual, until now, I wrote this handbook only in italian, only to simplify the access to Linux in Italy. With OpenMandriva I have translated to English and aligned the both handbook, but this kind of project is not born and structured to be translated in an easy way to the other languages. Before, I need to learn and get information about eventual conversion in other structure, then in an near future, I think I will release all the handbook to OpenMandriva. Re: [OM Cooker] [om-qa] DRAFT - Release plan for 2014.0
Hi, I think the second Release, should aim to stabilize and identify the distribution: stabilize: 1) Fix the bug of 2013 still open 2) Update the programs in the repositories and increase the number of programs available (there are programs like celestia, gcompris, putty) 3) Test of HW and not only on the VM. (I'm being confirmed, installation problems on laptops with nvidia cards) 4) It would be nice a database of supported hardware, in 2014 you could think about how to do it. identify: 1) Add to the Kickoff menu and SimpleWelcome symbol OpenMandriva. 2) Remove any Mandriva and Rosa 3) Customize, icons, colors, etc. If it were possible it would be nice to have a LTS version with kernel and programs extremely stable. And even if it were possible to generate ISO for other DM would not hurt, more than anything else to make the complete choice. And finally, ask ask ask directly to the community with frequent questionnaires. [OM Cooker] Question on LIVE boot on netbook and loop3 process????
One Question. I was testing again the live boot on netbook and notebook. In particular i was testing the boot on a netbook where i'm able to install the RC2 (as RC1 and beta) but I'm always not able to start correctly the live. Live seems to stop during the kde desktop boot but if you switch on another TTY, login as root and then use top you can find a process called loop3 who load 90% - 100% of CPU. What does the process, Loop3? Thank you -- Davide_01 http://www.linux-corner.it

[OM Cooker] Driver nvidia ???
the installation of the driver dkms never goes to fruition I tried to install the file run official, and compared to some time ago (when you used the open driver nv, the process is very complex. During installation, it is clearly said that the proprietary driver is not compatible with the nouveau driver, which is added to the blacklist. I wonder ... how do you manage the process? how it works on Rosa, as long as it still works? would be possible to make an iso that use the nv driver or directly proprietary ones? the point of having the package steam, for example, without nvidia drivers thanks a lot -- Davide_01 http://www.linux-corner.it
