Deng Hui,

The R2 VNF modeling work is being led by Andy as part of the VNF SDK project
being driven by Chris. I think it would be good for the folks who doing the
model definition to actually hear the inputs... :) Otherwise, I don't see the
point...

Re: [onap-discuss] [Modeling javatoscachecker] About the javatoscacheker.jar in the nexus.

2017-09-15 Thread Gary Wu
Hi Serban,

Generally when you see such a warning you should not submit; this is how you
get into the situation where your change depends on other changes in Gerrit,
making it un-mergeable. It’s only ok to submit with those dependencies if you
are sure that all those other dependencies will be submitted and merged first,
which is typically hard to guarantee.

What you usually should do is to always make each change off of the latest
master. So, typically this means:

# make some changes, commit
git review # this submits the change to gerrit
git reset --hard origin # WARNING: this will blow away all your commits in
the working directory!
git pull # pull latest code

This will get your local working directory back to match the latest master
branch. Then you work on your next change on top of this.

Thanks,
Gary

Thank you,
Made the update.
Trying to use ‘git review’ but I get the following

jora@vm-jora:~/src/toscaparsers/javatoscachecker$ git review
Enter passphrase for key '/home/jora/.ssh/id_rsa':
You are about to submit multiple commits. This is expected if you are
submitting a commit that is dependent on one or more in-review
commits. Otherwise you should consider squashing your changes into one
commit before submitting.

The outstanding commits are:

133c26e (HEAD -> master) Correct the group id in poms
a002ab7 Remove ecomp staging deployment plugin.
903c9b8 Reorganize poms, declare version as 1.0.0
0b72d5f Remove old test files (moving to junit)
bcfbb7a Tune the license text
163c17b Add license header to kwalify
d1c7688 Add common parent project ref to top level pom.

Do you really want to submit the above commits?

Is that normal? (only the top one is actually new but the rest have not been
submitted through git-review) Should I proceed?

[onap-discuss] [modeling][sdc][vfc][so][vnfsdk][sdnc][uui] Agenda of modeling project/subcommittee for tomorrow teleconf

2017-08-21 Thread denghui (L)
Hello all

This Thursday is the deadline for freezing of API, normally it means freezing
of modeling spec for R1. We can't always delay until the deadline for code
freezing :)
even tomorrow was planned for modeling project, we will borrow most time from
modeling project to discuss the status of interface and modeling spec, to check
whether we need additional call in this week.

1) Modeling project, (only 1 tosca parser is on the repo for VFC, UUI
hasn't confirmed yet)

2) Check the status of interface and modeling spec

Interfaces

a) VNFSDK-SDC

b) SDC-SO

c)SDC-VFC

d) SO-VFC

e) SO-SDNC
Modeling specs
1.a) VNFD (skip for R1?)
1.b) SD
1.c) NSD
1.d) WAN spec
1.e) vnf package (skip for R1)

3) ONAP modeling namespace

Thanks a lot

Hi Maopeng,

Your suggestion include a new artifact, swImageDesc.json. The information in
this artifact is the same as in tosca.artifacts.nfv.SwImage.
Two questions:

  1. What ONAP components use this json artifact?
  2. Would it be possible to use the information which is part of the VNF
descriptor (tosca.artifacts.nfv.SwImage)?
Thanks,
David

hi,

In R1, the VNF package is imported from VNF vendors and dealed with its SVNFM.

We need to define interfaces that the VNF package should be exposed for the
SDC design and the VFC orchestration.

The attachment is my suggestions for R1.

Because there are so many overlapped modeling topic for release 1, please allow
me to recommend that we use both tomorrow 6-7PDT(modeling subcommittee) and
7-8 PDT(SDC) to discuss those issues together.

  1. SDC vs VFC interfaces
  2. WAN discussion (SDC-SO, SO-SDNC)
  3. Workflow design
  4. VNFSDK-SDC API (resolved?)
  5. Service template design (resolved?)

If you prefer to discuss any topic SDC would like to focus on, please feel free
to let us know it.
Modeling subcommittee is open to pick other topics you left.

[onap-discuss] Modeling subcommittee chart

2017-08-04 Thread Michael Brenner
Hi Denghui,

In reviewing the Modeling sub-committee coordination chart - it seems that
the Modeling project itself is not listed under the projects. I may have
missed the discussion - is this intentional, or an omission? I was
expecting to see the project that owns tools (parsers/processors) to be
impacting the modeling coordination chart.
Attached link to the diagram I refer to:
https://wiki.onap.org/display/DW/ONAP+Modeling+specification

Hi Stephen,

As discussed in last time breakout session, the intention is both, for open
source project, we don't have guideline, it is more standard's way like 3GPP or
ETSI, it will delay at least our release for 3 or 6 months without modeling
spec.
I will update other 2 revisions tomorrow, thanks a lot for your comments

2017-06-09 Thread denghui (L)
Hello all

We have more than 40 contributors on the wiki page, based on the breakout
session this afternoon, we have only around 10 contributors.
Based on the discussion, we updated the Project webpage accordingly to handover
the modeling specification from modeling project to modeling subcommittee.

thanks for your review
Best regards,

Re: [onap-discuss] [Modeling] agenda for today teleconf

2017-05-16 Thread SULLIVAN, BRYAN L
A good practice that I developed from my years of leading groups in standards,
is to have the next week’s draft agenda as a section in the current week’s
agenda. That way you get a chance in the meeting to say – here’s what’s
upcoming, and take input on it a week in advance.

Maybe establishing such a practice here can help?

Deng,

I understand - but we all do 1000 different things/commitments. Without knowing
the agenda in time, it is hard to make choices when conflicts arise. This is
one of those weeks where there are conflicts for multiple folks. I think if we
miss some people, in some cases the agenda may have to change or be postponed -
otherwise the conclusion of the meetings may be different.
Things happen, and I am not complaining. I am just suggesting that if we want
to make an effort to have interested people at the appropriate meeting, we need
to make the extra effort in future to announce the agenda in a timely manner.

Thanks Brian. I see also from the wiki that there is an IRC channel as
requested:
https://www.irccloud.com/#!/ircs://irc.freenode.net:6697/%23onap-modeling

I recommend we get the LF infra team to setup a bot there to log the channel
for the minutes. We can also let people use the zoom chat and paste that into
the IRC channel at the end of the meeting, so it’s part of the minutes.

Here are the ZOOM chat notes from the Modeling meeting today.
07:38:25 From Bryan Sullivan : I disagree in principle that
declarative methods can'rt handle complex use cases.
07:39:33 From DENG Hui : Bryan, do you have example, how vendor's
volte could be deployed based on declarative methods?
07:39:37 From Bryan Sullivan : Dependencies as an example is clearly
supported by a declarative model, and can be used to derive VNFC sequencing.
07:40:09 From Alex Vul : I agree with Bryan...
07:40:24 From Bryan Sullivan : You need to list the particular aspects
of the model (actions in a deployment process for example) that need to be
assessed per support in declarative means.
07:40:51 From Bryan Sullivan : Do we have an IRC channel for the
meeting? Will be more effective than this chat tool.
07:41:35 From Alex Vul : just look at the VMware proprietary
implementaton or the BMC one, or examples of complex SAP landscapes that have
been modelled in TOSCA
07:42:08 From Alex Vul : the complexity of SAP landscapes rivals what
we need to do in terms of network services, VNFs and SFCs
07:42:20 From Bryan Sullivan : Also, the Cloudify DSL has a lot of
complex features that they have extended TOSCA with. These have not worked into

represented by a reference to a dependent artifact that has changed version

Deng,

Please communicate the agenda earlier in future. As you know, I am in ETSI
NFV meetings this week, and getting a 1 hour notice with an agenda item
forced me to make a last minute decision. At the time of the discussion on
workflow I was presenting at SOL WG on the topic of Deployment Flavor for
VNF model - and could not attend the ONP discussion.

2017-05-16 Thread Brian Hedstrom
Here are the ZOOM chat notes from the Modeling meeting today.
07:38:25 From Bryan Sullivan : I disagree in principle that declarative
methods can'rt handle complex use cases.
07:39:33 From DENG Hui : Bryan, do you have example, how vendor's volte
could be deployed based on declarative methods?
07:39:37 From Bryan Sullivan : Dependencies as an example is clearly
supported by a declarative model, and can be used to derive VNFC sequencing.
07:40:09 From Alex Vul : I agree with Bryan...
07:40:24 From Bryan Sullivan : You need to list the particular aspects of
the model (actions in a deployment process for example) that need to be
assessed per support in declarative means.
07:40:51 From Bryan Sullivan : Do we have an IRC channel for the meeting?
Will be more effective than this chat tool.
07:41:35 From Alex Vul : just look at the VMware proprietary implementaton
or the BMC one, or examples of complex SAP landscapes that have been
modelled in TOSCA
07:42:08 From Alex Vul : the complexity of SAP landscapes rivals what we
need to do in terms of network services, VNFs and SFCs
07:42:20 From Bryan Sullivan : Also, the Cloudify DSL has a lot of complex
features that they have extended TOSCA with. These have not worked into the
standard but are a clear example of how to declaratively model complex
features.

might as well go home now. That does not impact your ability to deploy
proprietary "real" VNFs, or diminish the potential quality of the platform
to support them. We just have to do a thorough job using open source tools
including VNFs.
07:51:20 From maopeng : if the deploy and the update have the different
relations or other depandencies running state, how to do that?
07:52:02 From Alex Vul : can you elaborate maopeng...
07:52:19 From Bryan Sullivan : We are not in a science experiment here; we
are working in the open on a real deployable platform. We just need to keep
all the components of the project discussion open and free.
07:54:20 From maopeng : @alex, we can discuss offline
07:54:32 From Ranny Haiby (Nokia) : Nokia successfully deployed a

07:54:36 From Alex Vul : sure... i spent 15 years working on app modeling...

Re: [onap-discuss] [modeling] TOSCA BPMN support proposal at OASISTOSCA WG

2017-05-10 Thread zhao.huabing
Hi Michael,

I brought this issue here only because the proposal has a strong relationship
to the ONAP community.

In the OASIS TOSCA meeting and maillist, I have repeatedly clarified that our
proposal only adds an option for the backward-compatible with TOSCA 1.0 to
allow reusing the tremendous existing codes of OpenECOMP and OPEN-O, it doesn't
intend to replace the new workflow DSL defined in TOSCA v1.1, and we also
acknowledge the vision of TOSCA declarative workflow.

TOSCA TSC Chair Matt also agree on this approach, here is what he said: “I
thought we had resolved going forward to acknowledge BPMN and BPEL (by name) as
popular examples of opaque ("Black box" artifact) work flow languages and list
all the issues/problems/caveats around using them in conjunction within a
declarative topology (for the Orchestrator and portability). To be clear, we
would not endorse them as normative, but neither would we reject them and
follow our philosophy of "meeting customer where they are at in their
(declarative) journey that is, not leave them behind, ignore them or force them
to choose to rewrite to TOSCA or leave.”

If BPMN/BPEL is not included in the TOSCA, we must either abandon the existing
codes, or extend the TOSCA spec in a non-standard way to support this. We hope
that the opensource and standard can cooperate and codevelop in a harmonized
way in the journey to it's ideally destination, that's why we submit this
proposal to OASIS TOSCA.

Here is the main idea of the proposal: it suggests an inclusive approach for
workflow definition: While the user can define each step of the imperative
workflow, the workflow can also be delegated to an arbitrary artifact, which
could be BPMN, BPEL or any other implementations which make sense.

To achieve that, the proposal suggest adding a “delegate” keyname at the
workflow level to signal that the workflow is delegated to an artifact
implementation. The value of “delegate” keyname is the relative path of the
artifact file in the CSAR package which the tosca template is in. During the
runtime, the orchestrator is responsible for instantiating the corresponding
artifact processor and hand over the workflow to it.

artifact_types:

  tosca.artifacts.Implementation.BPMN:

derived_from: tosca.artifacts.Implementation

description: Script artifact for the BPMN workflow

mime_type: application/bpmn+xml

file_ext: [ bpmn ]

topology_template:

  workflows:

update:

description: A BPMN workflow to update the network service

  delegate: plan/update.bpmn

This approach is similar to the plan defined in TOSCA V1.0

<Plans>

<Plan id="UpdateApplication"

planType="http://www.example.com/UpdatePlan";

planLanguage="http://www.omg.org/spec/BPMN/20100524/MODEL">

  <PlanModelReference reference="plans:UpdateApp"/>

   </Plan>

</Plans>

Given the intention of this proposal which is detailed described above, I don't
understand why you keep pushing it back .

Thanks,

Huabing

Huabing,
I recognize the need in ONAP to support delegation in TOSCA to external

Further, your claim that I am the only one opposing the half-way solution on

absolutely CANNOT resolve TOSCA TC discussions/debates in the ONAP
community alone, and this is not the appropriate way for you to convince me
to drop my opposition in TOSCA TC.
The right way to have me support this is by resolving the technical issues
that I raised.

Best regards,
Michael

[onap-discuss]  [modeling] TOSCA BPMN support proposal at OASIS TOSCA WG

2017-05-10 Thread zhao.huabing
Hi Amir and all,

Both OPEN-O and OpenECOMP have used TOSCA for service topology modelling and
BPMN/BPEL for lifecycle management process modelling. After the merger, ONAP
will inherit the existing codes from OPEN-O and OpenECOMP and continue to use
BPMN/BPEL in SO/VF-C.

However, I noticed that TOSCA has removed the support for BPMN/BPEL in v1.1[1]
which is recommended in the Topology and Orchestration Specification for Cloud
Applications Version 1.0[2].

This incompatible change of TOSCA specification may cause unpredictable effects
to existing opensource projects, in particular, the ONAP, which have already
adopted BPMN as its lifecycle management process modelling.

To harmonize the opensource and standards, I am co-proposing a proposal[3] with
Lingli(CMCC), Claude(AT&T) and Shitaoto(Huawei) to suggest OASIS TOSCA revert
standard workflow DSLs support such as BPMN/BPEL in the next version of simple
YAML specification.

The proposal has been discussed in the OASIS TOSCA for a couple of weeks and
most of the members agreed on it except the strong pushback from Michael of
Gigaspaces.

I think this proposal is for the best interest of ONAP community, so I'm
writing this mail to solicit supports from Gigaspaces and all the other
community members who are both in ONAP and OASIS TOSCA WG.
