Are Mp3 direct cut and avs software the same thing? If so, he program
gave me all kinds of extra files to download, and then I couldn't get
the program to speak at all. I am using Window-eyes 7.52. Are there

Yes, DirecTV does carry the audio description. I watched a described
version of the Wizard of Oz during the holidays. The Turner channels
seem to have the most audio described programs. TNT and the Turner
Classic Movies are your best bets. You would probably need to check the
manual for the specific receiver you have to see how to access Secondary
 audio.

Hopefully, we will have more audio description later this year when the
FCC mandate goes into effect in July. Unfortunately, it only calls for 50

hours of audio described programming from each network per quarter. We
shall see how much difference that makes!

Windows Media Center records in .wtv format, which is described as
Windows Recorded TV. If all you want to do with the files is to watch

them in Media Center, there shouldn't be any problem. I don't know if

 other players support this format.

As soon as I find some TV with audio description, I'll try to record
it. At the moment, I can only get ABC and CBS networks on my tuner,
along with some independent channels. If anyone knows of programs on
ABC or CBS that are described, let me know.

Also, Media Center comes with Windows, giving us a standard user

I've noticed upon hooking up my behringer 31 band eq that if I raise
up the higher bands I'm getting the feedback of my internal hard
drive's motor and some power static. the connections are as follows.

a pair of male xlr connecting to two rca outputs on a sound blaster
x-fi pro external sound card.
Two standard xlr male to female cables connect from the eq to two
nearfield active studio monitors, adam audio a7x's.

The power is grounded on all three-pronged plugs. I have an internal
soundcard which is an m-audio delta 1010 lt. That's the audio side of
things, here comes the computer side of the equation.

a thermaltake atx mid-tower case holds an asus wd5 delux motherboard,
don't quote me on the exact name. The hard drives, there are 3, are
all sata 2 drives, 2 500 gb drives and a 1.5 tb drive. The two 500 gb
drives are a few years old, they make more noise than the 1.5 tb
drive. The catch is that one of them is my main drive for program
files and the like, so I don't want to put it in an enclosure. The
other two could be taken out and enclosed.

My main concern is editting, the feedback won't get through to the
digital transfers, but I'm not sure if I can deal with this high
pitched noise, it's a high b-flat. I'm wondering if anyone has run
into this and what a good solution might be?

If you do consider buying this box, you might want to be absolutely certain
they are really selling the
full version of Pro Tools. It is possible it is a demo or special version and
it may not be that
significant part of the price. I thought I had heard that Pro Tools works with

it is affecting the price
much.

Re: feedback from internal hard drives

2012-01-10 Thread Steve Jacobson
Dave,

Are some of the drives and the sound card USB? If so, it might be worth making
sure they are on
separate USB controllers/hubs. Sometimes there is more than one built into a
computer, so experimenting
with putting them on different USB connectors could be worth your time. With
the quality of the sound
card, you wouldn't expect this sort of thing, though. If the drives are not
USB, where is the
controller? If your M-Audio board is in a slot next to a HD or USB controller,
I suppose that could
cause a problem, but these are not usually separate boards any more and are on
the mother board.

I saw another response that suggested a ground loop isolator. While I wouldn't
discount that as a
solution as ground loops can do some strange things, my experience has been
that ground loops generally
result in at least some 60-cycle hum as well as additional noise. If you're
specifically getting hard
disk noise without a noticeable amount of hum, it seems as though you are
getting leakage into the sound
outputs outside of a ground loop path.

Also, is there any chance you are running the volume at a low level somewhere
because of gain in your
speakers and equalizer? If you run your output at a higher electronic volume
but you are experiencing
some sort of overload, attenuating the output in some other way than turning
down the electronic volume
control is worth exploring.

Best regards,

Steve Jacobson

The web address I sent you is what you want to use, as it is shown, exactly.
I ran the installation of the program I have, which works fine, and then ran
through the entire setup to verify it. The web address is what is displayed
when the download box is up on the desktop. All you have to do is copy the
link I sent to you into the address bar. When you click 'Enter', the
download for the mp3 direct cut should come up.

Hi,
Are Mp3 direct cut and avs software the same thing? If so, he program gave
me all kinds of extra files to download, and then I couldn't get the program
to speak at all. I am using Window-eyes 7.52. Are there any other programs
which split mp3 files?

Thanks.

It is a program you can use to record and edit mp3 files. It will not

Transferring GoldWave Licence

2012-01-10 Thread Danny Miles
Hi everyone. The other day my GoldWave licence expired and I decided
to buy a lifetime licence. However, I've now discovered that I'm
buying a new laptop in the next couple of days, so I'm wondering how I
would be able to:
(a) download the programme to my new laptop without paying for another
licence, and
(b) transfer the current licence from my old laptop to the new one

Any help will be gratefully received.

Hi Danny. Unless it has changed in the last year since I reinstalled
Goldwave, you simply install gold wave on your new lap top as normal. It
will appear as the trial version but if you still have your licence you
input it into the relevant place and you are back up and running. If you
purchase a lifetime licence then that is what it is, lifetime. Walter.

This is still the case today. GoldWave does not use any form of product

You can find out all about Reaper at http://www.reaper.fm/

I'm told that with JAWS you need a set of plug-ins to make the full Reaper

its certainly accessible here with NVDA and on the Mac with Voiceover.

Reaper is sound production software which pretty much does everything

I think the licence is only about $60.00 which is giving it away and
that licence can be used across platforms so you can use Mac or PC
 versions.

The manual is well written though extra tutorials to deal with specific

its not going to hurt anyone to play around with the software, ask

You can try the programme without restriction when you download it.

I'm still learning about the Reaper software as it offers so much, I've
not used Sonar so I can't comment on that particular package.

Re: Transferring GoldWave Licence

2012-01-10 Thread David Tanner
When you get the new laptop download a new copy of Goldwave and install it.
Then enter your license information into the Goldwave that you just
installed. That should be all that you have to do.

Of course if your license has expired you may need to upgrade your license
before it will take effect on the new computer. Remember, you have over
3000 keystrokes on Goldwave before you need to license it anyway. So, it
may be best to just install the new copy on your laptop, and make sure that
you have upgraded your license before entering the license information.

Re: Transferring GoldWave Licence

2012-01-10 Thread kim kelly
You just put it on your new computer you should not need to pay for a new
licenses.

I've had my licenses for almost 7 years.
I've put that turkey on several different computers.
It is now on two or three different ones.
two desktops, and a laptop.

Subject: Transferring GoldWave Licence

Hi everyone. The other day my GoldWave licence expired and I decided
to buy a lifetime licence. However, I've now discovered that I'm
buying a new laptop in the next couple of days, so I'm wondering how I
would be able to:
(a) download the programme to my new laptop without paying for another
licence, and
(b) transfer the current licence from my old laptop to the new one

Any help will be gratefully received.

Danny

Re: Resetting a Password for an iTunes account

2012-01-10 Thread Dane Trethowan
I think I know why It happened, because I was switching between VPN etc and I'm
not worried about that so much, just resetting this damn password, I'll get
some sighted help and see if we can work it out if I can't in the meantime.

Yes, Apple use a secret question which you give when you create your account
but they also use email orthentication.

 Dane,

It sounds to me, here in the U.S. that you may have experienced a phishing
expedition, from an unknown source, looking for your secret question, etc. I
am not trying to be alarmist, but, did you see any other information, from
Apple, as to your identity, or was this just a plain text thing, without
 identifying you?

Subject: Resetting a Password for an iTunes account

 Hi!

Has anyone had trouble doing this?

I got a message on Sunday that my iTunes account had been disabled and I
was advised to reset the password so I pressed the Reset button in
iTunes and a web page came up.

All went well and I was able to get to the Reset Password page by
typing the answer to my secret question and here came the problem.

No matter how many times I typed in a new password I couldn't get the
account to reset, there are 2 buttons a Next and a reset button,
which one do you press and where? The page isn't terribly specific, can
anyone help with this? Thanks in Advance.

yeah just copy your license key and you'll be fine. And is it a turkey?
It's not a duck? Ducks are cute and they quack! and there is always
something amusing to me about hearing elequence say, quack!
