Aha! Ok, you're thinking of what's called Jump to time. in Winamp
that's control plus j. i'm not sure what it is in other players but
that's it.

Hi. I believe what the original guy I think it was Tom? is talking
about is being able to take a very long audio file, and placing a timed
bookmark in it so if you close your player and re-open it, you can jump
right back to the same exact spot you were when you closed it. Think of
it like placing a bookmark in a book so you can find the correct page.
I know JAWS has this functionality, and Window-eyes does too, but I
don't believe NVDA has an add-on for Winamp with this
functionality...and if it does exist i haven't seen it.

Hello list, I'm looking for an accessible software media player that
runs under Windows 10 with which I can bookmark wherever I left off
in a media file so that later I can resume where I left off without
having to search through the file to find the place I left off. I
now use Windows Media Player, but any accessible alternative capable
of bookmarking one's place in an audio file is what I'm looking for;
any suggestions or tips are welcome; thanks.

RE: accessible software media player that can bookmark

2016-10-06 Thread Dean Martineau
I have to say I didn't find this post all that helpful. Winamp works fine
for me and for some others using Windows 10. Given that situation, can you
elaborate on why we should change to VLC? Assuming winamp works, what does
it do better? Also, can you speed up playback with it easily?

Yep, and so many people believe that just because it's not being developed
anymore that they should completely quit using it and move onto something else,
even at the cost of functionality like this.

I started using Winamp way back around 1998 or so. It's done everything I
expected it to do, and nothing I don't want it to. There were a few versions
that acted a bit odd but you could always turn those features off if you wanted
to, many times I did.
it is still available via the ninite website, and that's a great site all on
its own. for Winamp plus a lot of other accessible stuff you can get, the link
is:

Winamp does this, provided you have either jaws or
Window-eyes scripts. Unfortunately I don't know if NVDA has an addon
with this functionality, but it'd be nice. People have delighted in
sending me eleven-hour-long audio books, yes, all in one giant file, and
i find it impossible to navigate so bookmarks are a welcome feature.
