Hi list, i am still having trouble with converting audible files in
sound taxi. with sentences missing at the end of the conversions.
this only happens occasionally.. i am in communication with sound
taxi, and i am coming to the conclusion, that they don't want to help
me, but are simply hoping i will get fed up, and go away. i have told
them that there is nothing wrong with the source file, and they keep
asking me to play it again in either media player or itune. also,
they have now asked me twice, to send them both the source and
partially converted files. i have asked them, three times, if i
include my originally report, of the fault, how to send them such
large files. so far, they haven't told me. have any of you, had
trouble of this sort with conversions. if so, did you report it, and
what happened. brian.

all though they are correct in the audible output. the last one,
diana the huntress, by m. c. beaton, has two sentences missing at the
end. i have done the obvious, that is, downloaded it again, and done
the conversion again. the result is the same. the cut off is in the

I have another sound taxi question.

I have a few files which are encoded in wma lossless but with drm
protection.

Sound taxi will allow me to remove the drm protection but I cannot save them
in wma lossless like the original files. My question now is whether there
is a way in sound taxi to simply remove the DRM protection but keep the
original format?

sound taxi removing tags during conversion

2013-05-03 Thread André van Deventer
Hi all

I must say I am a bit disappointed in sound taxi.

It seems as if when I convert protected wma files to 320 mp3 files, the
programme does not seem to convert the audio tags in the wma file. Is there
any way to change this?

re installing sound taxi

2013-05-02 Thread brian parker
Hi list, i am having trouble with my sound taxi programme. i raised
the subject with the technical staff of sound taxi, about losing
words at the end of converted files. they then suggested that i
upgraded to the latest version, which i thought was odd, as i only
just bought sound taxi, and thought it was the latest version i had.
anyway, i attempted to install the new version, and when i got the
continue button, which should have taken me to the internet so that
the programme would be activated, i found this button was disabled.
under instructions from sound taxi, i downloaded the latest version,
and went through the whole process again. the continue button was
still disabled. i then report ed this to sound taxi, and decided to
put in my origianal version. i was surprise to find that it also got
stuck at the continue button. it was as if the programme couldn't go
to the internet. you will all have had messages such as, this
programme is trying to acceess the internet, and asking if you will
allow it. i have had no message with regard to sound taxi. i am now
stuck, as i have no version of taxi i can use. have any of you had
this problem with regard to installing sound taxi. or do any of you
know how i can check if sound taxi is blocked. i have reported all
this to sound taxi, and am still waiting an answer from them. if i
was a member of their technical staff, i would try installing sound
taxi on one of their computers, using my personal code. well i will
leave it there. if anyone has anything useful to offer, i would be
glad to hear from them. as for me, i wish i hadn't got in to this
trying to install an upgrade. for your interest, the version i am
now trying to install is:

4.4.3

RE: re sound taxi

2013-02-15 Thread Kevin Minor
Hi Brian.

First, sorry for not getting back to you sooner.

What I did to make the program work easier is to set it up to automaticly
bring up the list of files you want to select. I think it's in the options
section. When you are in the file selection dialogue, just hit SHIFT+TAB
twice to get to the list of files. I always have all the files in their own
folder, so I just hit CTRL+A to select them all, then hit ENTER to select
them.

Also, I have all the files go to their own folder where I don't get confused
with what's the original and what's the converted file.

Oh yeah, One other setting you may want to turn on is to automaticly start
converting files. This way, you just select the files you want to convert,
and Sound Taxi starts to convert them right away.

Hope this is useful. If you have any other questions let me know.

Re: re sound taxi

2013-02-07 Thread Robert Doc Wright
you need to first go into settings to tell the program what output folder
you want the results sent to, the format of the file being converted. Then
you open the file you want converted and then start the conversion.

Yes, I agree. You might be able to find some other converter that will
convert M4A files into another format, but then you run the risk of
introducing some new artefacts. Best if you can go to the source and
just specify another format.

Hi Brian.

I use Sound Taxi with no screen, so it's quite useable. You will have to
use the mouse function of your software to get it working, but it's not too
bad.

Here's the link for Sound Taxi.

http://soundtaxi.info

It costs $40, and for another $5 you can get an extended download plan so
you can get the program if you have to reformat your PC.

Have fun, and don't work too hard.

Brian,
Audible has responded to inquiries about support for the new Stream. They
say that it will be supported. I suspect that Audible considers it to be
just a new generation of a player that is already supported. While support
for the new Stream is good news, it would be even better if Audible would
make a commitment to support all new devices designed for people with
disabilities. I've already heard repeatedly on another list that everybody
should be using main-stream commercial devices and that the market for
specialty devices will soon be gone; don't need to hear all that again!

really don't need the media suite to access sound taxi.
Unfortunately, I cannot recall what I did to get rid of it. Unless, I
uninstalled the media suite because I can no longer find it on my computer.

Hello there. I am having problems trying to access Sound Taxi Media suite.
When I enter it, it asks if I want to convert DRM files, copy DVD's or
something like that. However, when I press enter, it goes out. How do I
access sound Taxi? I am using Window-Eyes 7.11

I just tried it, and it's exactly the same. The compression is awful.

Sound Taxi Weirdness

2009-06-09 Thread Steve Matzura
Has anybody noticed that Sound Taxi adds audio compression to its
converted files? I just finished converting 30 WMA's to MP3 and
discovered this most annoying fact. There is definitely some audio
compression going on in there. I can hear the pumping. Anybody with
an idea as to what may be causing it?

Sure man that is why I suggest choosing a high bit rate under the settings
menue which you can get to via the mouse cursor on the main screen.

In addition, you wil always lose some quality each time you modify a file.

No way! If I use Total Recorder to do this job, there's no audio
compression. I don't mean compression as in compression due to MP3
encoding, I mean compression as in good old-fashioned pumping audio
compression, where everything's the same level and the soft parts are
made loud. It sounds horrible!

Thats right an TR records in real time unlike Sound Taxi which increases the
recording rate. TR also has it's own sound driver.

I might add here that there was absolutely no additional charge for the

Hi listers,

I recently upgraded my system with a new mother board,
processor, and memory. I re-installed my software and am now in the
process of testing and tweaking it to work the way it used to. Sound
taxi professional is presenting major problems. I entered my
registration info, but it put in an activation code that doesn't match
the old stuff, since the machine code is now different. So, when i
tried to use the program, it would only convert 30 second pieces of the
source files. I can't find a number to call and have them help me
rectify the situation. Any ideas or suggestions would be gratefully
accepted.

Thanks, in advance for comments.

Honestly, sometimes I wonder ... I won't tell you what I wonder, I
just wonder ... thanks! I already did the deed yesterday by googling
for regnow sound-taxi, but honestly, I would never have thought they
would bury it like that without a merest mention of the words buy or
purchase. I'm like that, though, I get right up to the door, take
one look at it, decide it's the wrong door, then go off trying to find
another! ARRRG!

Sound Taxi Still for Sale?

2009-06-02 Thread Steve Matzura
I'm one of those oddballs that still believes in paying for something
one finds valuable. I want to purchase the latest Sound Taxi 3.8.5.
On the program's opening screen, there's a Buy Now button, but it
takes you nowhere useful--just to the home page of Sound Taxi, where
there is no information on how to buy it. None in the FAQ, none in

RE: Sound taxi and Audible

2009-02-04 Thread Pam Drake
Don and All,

Please forgive if this has been answered before.

You may not be able to convert the file unless you do the conversion on
the same computer on which the file was originally downloaded. In other
words, I tried converting a file sent to me by Dave, and it would not
convert. When I downloaded the same file, then ran Sound Taxi on the
same computer the file converted without a problem. I believe the
program looks for the relationship, or ownership of the .drm key. I
suspect that's the way the company tries to make sure that files are
converted only by those who own them, or purchased them, or borrowed
them.

Can Sound Taxi or some other batch conversion program preserve the artist

lossless to MP3 format?

I bought Sound Taxi. And I have also tried Easy CD-DA Extractor. I
specify

complete very quickly, but nothing happens. Easy CD-DA Extractor does
not

even enable the Convert option unless I drill down and specifically select
the .WMA files.

Is there a setting or procedure that will let me preserve the artist and

If not, do you know of another accessible program that will accomplish
this?

How do you convert a batch of ripped CD's for playing in an MP3 player?

Subject: Batch Conversion With Sound Taxi

Can Sound Taxi or some other batch conversion program preserve the artist
and album folder structure when converting a batch of ripped CD's from WMA
lossless to MP3 format?

I bought Sound Taxi. And I have also tried Easy CD-DA Extractor. I
specify
the output target root folder. I select the artist folders in the
lossless

CD directory. When I perform the conversion, Sound Taxi says conversion
complete very quickly, but nothing happens. Easy CD-DA Extractor does
not

even enable the Convert option unless I drill down and specifically select
the .WMA files.

Is there a setting or procedure that will let me preserve the artist and
album folder structure when converting files in batch?

If not, do you know of another accessible program that will accomplish
this?

How do you convert a batch of ripped CD's for playing in an MP3 player?

Thanks for all help.\\Rob

Hi Robert Doc Wright,
what version of soundtaxi are you using?
I've used Platinum, and now I'm using pro, which is suppose to be 50 time

I don't see any difference, and I have a quad core computer, with 3 gigs of
ram.

I converted a 82 Mb file, and it took 3 hours.
If you know of any way to speed this up, let me know.
Thanks,

Hi Robert Doc Wright,
what version of soundtaxi are you using?
I've used Platinum, and now I'm using pro, which is suppose to be 50 time
faster.
I don't see any difference, and I have a quad core computer, with 3 gigs of
ram.
I converted a 82 Mb file, and it took 3 hours.
If you know of any way to speed this up, let me know.
Thanks,

Re: Batch Conversion With Sound Taxi

2009-01-29 Thread graham stoodley
Arthur, I also have the pro version of Sound Taxi, and as far as I can
tell, the only extra conversion speed you get is if you are converting
more than one file at a time. Converting more than one file
simultaneously does seem to be slightly faster than would be
converting them serially one after the other. So, in converting a
single file, the Pro version won't perform faster than the Platinum
version. The claim for faster conversion on the Sound Taxi web site
does not go out of its way to make this distinction clear, as I
learned after I bought the Pro version.

Although it is my understanding that Sound Taxi can be used

 Hi everyone!

I'm using sound taxi on an hp pavilion laptop running vista sp1. I've used
it many times before to convert various files, but today, I added a file,
and was told that it was queued for conversion, even though I had set the
program to begin conversions automatically. I waited for it to start for
about ten minutes before shutting down the program. It was the only file
 in
the queue, so it should have started. I tested several other files from
rhapsody with the same results. I also tried converting to both mp3 and
wave. I can't figure out what the problem might be. If anyone has any
suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate any and all assistance.
 Thanks.

rhapsody with the same results. I also tried converting to both mp3 and
wave. I can't figure out what the problem might be. If anyone has any
suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate any and all assistance.
 Thanks.

 Allison

Sound taxi won't convert.

2008-08-17 Thread Allison Mervis
Hi everyone!

I'm using sound taxi on an hp pavilion laptop running vista sp1. I've used
it many times before to convert various files, but today, I added a file,
and was told that it was queued for conversion, even though I had set the
program to begin conversions automatically. I waited for it to start for
about ten minutes before shutting down the program. It was the only file in
the queue, so it should have started. I tested several other files from
rhapsody with the same results. I also tried converting to both mp3 and
wave. I can't figure out what the problem might be. If anyone has any
suggestions or ideas, I would really appreciate any and all assistance.
Thanks.

Allison

Hi Abarney. As I said in an earlier post I can convert files but
 with
 no
control of the bit rate. When I launch Sound Taxi there is about 10
 seconds
of non activity then I get a tone such as when something has been
 completed,
like at the end of a burn sequence in Nero. However, I have to alt
 tab
 to
another window to get the option to select the files for conversion.
 I
 am
unable to use the file menu as it is frozen as is the application
 key.
 If
you could give me some idea of keystrokes or short cut keys I would
 be
thankful. I don't have Skype but I am on Live Messenger and my

Hi everyone. Thanks to those who posted with suggestionson unlocking
 DRM

forgive this longish post. Firstly the purchasing of Sound Taxi was
 no
 easy
task. I had to get sighted assistance on the last page to confirm the
 order
and that required the use of the mouse. I am totally blind and use
 JAWS
 7.
I would appreciate any help from those who use Sound taxi as it isn't
 very
accessible. I've managed to convert the 24 files I had downloaded but
 I
 had
very little, in fact no control over the finished product. The
 original
download files were 192 bit and when I converted these the bit rate
 varied
from 160 to 320. If anyone is familiar with using Sound Taxi with a
 screen
reader then I would appreciate your help in organising the programme
 for
ease of use. Also, are there any Scripts for Sound Taxi that would
 make
things easier and if so, where do I find them. Many thanks in advance
 to
those who are able willing to help. If you wish to contact me off

avoid boring the other members then my email address is

 Hi Walter,
I am using jaws620, and don't have any scripts installed, and don't
 have
 any
 problems with SoundTaxi.
I installed the Jaws8 demo, and installed the scripts, and find that
 they
 don't work well.
I get better results with Jaws620 without the scripts.

Hi Abarney. I have downloaded the scripts but once I try to install
 I
 am
unable since it reqquires Jaws8 and I am using JAWS 7. Do you know
 if
scripts are available for JAWS 7? Walter.

Hi everyone. Thanks to those who posted with suggestionson
 unlocking
 DRM
files, I'm grateful. I do have some requests for help though so
 pleas
forgive this longish post. Firstly the purchasing of Sound Taxi was
 no
 easy
task. I had to get sighted assistance on the last page to confirm
 the
 order
and that required the use of the mouse. I am totally blind and use
 JAWS
 7.
I would appreciate any help from those who use Sound taxi as it
 isn't
 very
accessible. I've managed to convert the 24 files I had downloaded
 but
 I
 had
very little, in fact no control over the finished product. The
 original
download files were 192 bit and when I converted these the bit rate
 varied
from 160 to 320. If anyone is familiar with using Sound Taxi with a
 screen
reader then I would appreciate your help in organising the programme
 for
ease of use. Also, are there any Scripts

 The main keys
 f7 options
where you can set file type, bit rate and out put folder

 f2 clear list
 f4 start conversion
If you have scripts f8 shows conversion status.

 I
 am
unable to use the file menu as it is frozen as is the application
 key.
 If
you could give me some idea of keystrokes or short cut keys I would
 be
thankful. I don't have Skype but I am on Live Messenger and my
 contact
address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] Feel free to add me and we
 can
discuss this matter or if you prefer, you can contact me off list via
 email.
 Walter.
