Whether that allows manipulation of the photos in the way Der Tzitung

It's a new post. In about two weeks I have about thirty people coming to my

I'm doing a lot of home repairs. The dance floor needed a better support for
the cover, my deck needs some repairs, I needed to finish converting the attic
to storage so we could get stuff out of the downstairs apartment and use it,
plus all sorts of related repairs and jobs like re-doing a lot of the wiring in

Karin and I have been busy. We're walking the 102 miles of the

I was hoping to post a picture a day, but today (day 9) is the first

worth in one go.

Haven't managed to do any work on the pictures so it shows them as taken.

We arrive in Bath (a World Heritage city) tomorrow and will spend a

Re: GESO - Cotswold Way

2011-05-10 Thread Miserere
I liked Day 4 very much, for its simplicity and simple colour palette.

Speaking of colours, bulls see in BW, so red isn't all that special.
It's the movement of the capa in the bullfight that draws them to
it, not the colour.

I've been to Bath twice in my life (cue pun jokes) and I like it very
much. Being one of those people who enjoys stones, Romans and
buildings made of stone, Bath appeals in that it offers buildings made
of stones built by Romans. And some delicious pasties too.

How are your feet feeling, Chris?

Trillium is the Michigan state flower, but it's an endangered species in our

shape and fragile nature. Several dozen plants grow along the garden trail next

The warm precincts of the cheerful day

2011-05-10 Thread Bob W
Chris and Karin weren't the only ones enjoying the glory of England's
spring. I spent the weekend in the Peak District walking, including a day on
Kinder Scout learning to navigate using maps marked only with contour lines
- a very interesting way to learn to read the landscape closely. One of the
pictures shows an example of the kind of terrain we had to read - mostly
peat bog on the watershed.

Very few snaps from the navigation day, but here are a few from the village
where I stayed, and one or two of the nearby dales where I walked. The
village is taking part in a programme called SOS Village
(http://www.bbc.co.uk/villagesos/), and they had a food fair on the
Saturday, so I took a few snaps of that. Nothing great, but very typical of
such places. While waiting for the bus on Monday I took some pictures -
probably too many - in the parish church, which is very large for such a
place, but very attractive. In fact, they have more churches than pubs. But
the pubs had more people in them.

Karin and I have been busy. We're walking the 102 miles of the Cotswold Way
down the middle of England from Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire to the
city of Bath in Somerset. We're doing it over 10 days.

I was hoping to post a picture a day, but today (day 9) is the first time
we've managed to get a decent network connection so here's 9 days worth in
one go.
http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/CotswoldWayPAD/

Haven't managed to do any work on the pictures so it shows them as taken.

We arrive in Bath (a World Heritage city) tomorrow and will spend a couple
of days there before being driven back to Chipping Campden.

Cheers Chris

Trillium is the Michigan state flower, but it's an endangered species in our
state. It's not all that rare, but it is easily disturbed, and I assume
there's a lot less of it than there once was. I've always been fond of its
delicate shape and fragile nature. Several dozen plants grow along the
garden trail next to my house, and I always have to be careful not to step
on them. Even raking the leaves away can kill them.

 peat bog on the watershed.

Very few snaps from the navigation day, but here are a few from the

Saturday, so I took a few snaps of that. Nothing great, but very typical
 of
such places. While waiting for the bus on Monday I took some pictures -
probably too many - in the parish church, which is very large for such a

 But
the pubs had more people in them.

A very enjoyable gallery - certainly not the sort of landscape and
village life that I'm likely to see here. I hope our ABC picks up the
BBC's Village SOS programme - should be interesting.

How extensive is that flat landscape of Kinder Scout? - not sure I'd
want to get lost there.

I particularly enjoyed 4, 6, 9, 13 and 15 - and those wood carvings on
the church pews.
