GESO - Cotswold Way
Karin and I have been busy. We're walking the 102 miles of the Cotswold Way down the middle of England from Chipping Campden in Gloucestershire to the city of Bath in Somerset. We're doing it over 10 days. I was hoping to post a picture a day, but today (day 9) is the first time we've managed to get a decent network connection so here's 9 days worth in one go. http://www.mitch.myzen.co.uk/CotswoldWayPAD/ Haven't managed to do any work on the pictures so it shows them as taken. We arrive in Bath (a World Heritage city) tomorrow and will spend a couple of days there before being driven back to Chipping Campden. Re: GESO - Cotswold Way
I liked Day 4 very much, for its simplicity and simple colour palette. Speaking of colours, bulls see in BW, so red isn't all that special. It's the movement of the capa in the bullfight that draws them to it, not the colour. I've been to Bath twice in my life (cue pun jokes) and I like it very much. Being one of those people who enjoys stones, Romans and buildings made of stone, Bath appeals in that it offers buildings made of stones built by Romans. And some delicious pasties too. The warm precincts of the cheerful day
Chris and Karin weren't the only ones enjoying the glory of England's spring. I spent the weekend in the Peak District walking, including a day on Kinder Scout learning to navigate using maps marked only with contour lines - a very interesting way to learn to read the landscape closely. One of the pictures shows an example of the kind of terrain we had to read - mostly peat bog on the watershed. Very few snaps from the navigation day, but here are a few from the village where I stayed, and one or two of the nearby dales where I walked. The village is taking part in a programme called SOS Village (http://www.bbc.co.uk/villagesos/), and they had a food fair on the Saturday, so I took a few snaps of that. Nothing great, but very typical of such places. While waiting for the bus on Monday I took some pictures - probably too many - in the parish church, which is very large for such a place, but very attractive. In fact, they have more churches than pubs. But the pubs had more people in them. http://www.web-options.com/Tidza/ B -- PDML Pentax-Discuss Mail List PDML@pdml.net http://pdml.net/mailman/listinfo/pdml_pdml.net to UNSUBSCRIBE from the PDML, please visit the link directly above and follow the directions.

Thanks stan! We're stopped for the night on the east side of the Mississippi River in Vicksburg. Tomorrow, Louise will head in to work ... RE: PESO: One advantage of video mode... (lightning)
Interesting video still capture... Nice colors... Luckily here we are not having flooding but west of us in Memphis they are having the flooding that we had last year. ___ Pictures that I have taken on Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/photos/jt-johnson/ -Original Message- From: pdml-boun...@pdml.net [mailto:pdml-boun...@pdml.net] On Behalf Of Charles Robinson Sent: Tuesday, May 10, 2011 9:08 PM To: Pentax-Discuss Mail List Subject: PESO: One advantage of video mode... (lightning) When you're recording a thunderstorm going by, with all of the roiling clouds, it's easy to isolate a frame and save a single interesting frame. Looks, unfortunately, a little JPEGgy but... purty nonetheless to my eyes! http://charles.robinsontwins.org/photos/2011/IMGP0505.jpg Two weeks ago it was snowing here - now it's 86F with thunderstorms and tornadoes. I love it Charles. You give me ideas. If we ever had thunderstorms in Seattle when it wasn't already pouring rain. And the wires! I produced a reply therein that hasn't been moderated yet, so you don't see it. So to re-iterate it here - I think that what the newspaper did is wrong on more than one (or even two) levels, including whatever limited understanding of Judaism that I have. However, the tone and the wording of the comments is such that it clearly shows (to me, at least) that judge a person by their actions and not by what they are principle is, how to put it, still remains rather theoretical one. But the pubs had more people in them. http://www.web-options.com/Tidza/ A very enjoyable gallery - certainly not the sort of landscape and village life that I'm likely to see here. I hope our ABC picks up the BBC's Village SOS programme - should be interesting. How extensive is that flat landscape of Kinder Scout? - not sure I'd want to get lost there. I particularly enjoyed 4, 6, 9, 13 and 15 - and those wood carvings on the church pews.
