[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#668712: update-notifier-kde: unowned files after purge (policy 6.8, 10.8)

forcemerge 606623 668712
thanks

Dear Andreas,
could you PLEASE not refile this bug AGAIN for Kingston? Thanks. It is a bug in
the update-notifier-common package as was noted the last time.

The previous bug, you filed, was #656354. What I explained [0] back then, is
still true. The next time I get a bug for this, I'll close it without further
notice or explanation. If this is some automated script, please put Kingston on
the blacklist for auto-filing of bugs.

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

Dear Filipus,
it's an upstream bug, upstream forgot to bump the version (current HEAD still
shows 0.7 [0], and if you download the latest tarball [1], you'll also see, that
it states 0.7 in the KAboutData section ([2]) of src/main.cpp (line 32). Lastly
you can see the import, that happened for 0.8 at [3]).

Dear Ernesto,
what version of gtk2-engines-oxygen do you use (if it's not 1.0.4-1, does the
bug occur after you've upgraded?)? Is your
file://$HOME/.config/oxygen-gtk/argb-apps.conf empty? If not, please try an
empty one. If it is: does the bug occur when you blacklist Gimp?

My problem is, that Gimp is working over here with gtk2-engines-oxygen installed
and an empty argb-apps.conf.

no need to apologize, just thought it might be useful information for you as you
(the language team) might prioritize translations (e.g. debconf first) and/or
use pseudo URLs for tracking progress of translations and then the po-debconf
handler might make trouble with tracking this translation.

And now to an additional request: kingston provides a .notifyrc [1] and a
.desktop [2] file too, both would need translation in addition to the PO
 file to
complete the French translation. Could you translate them too, please?

Please find in attachment a patch for these files containing the
 strings translated to French.

Perfect! I've committed your changes (23e575f) to our Git. The French
translation will be included in the next upload.

I'm not able to reproduce the bug here (I hope I understood you correctly, to
ensure this, this is what I've tried: install gedit, open gtk2-engines-oxygen
README.gz file (after gunzipping) with gedit). Everything looks fine.
Could you please name a few of the other affected programs, maybe I'm able to
see your bug with them, and attach a screenshot of a program showing the bug (in
case it isn't easy to spot on the screenshot, please mark the affected regions).

But I've installed the package Oxygen Molecule from Ubuntu distro and
worked here. This cannot be ported to official debian package?

This is a total different question from any bug in gtk2-engines-oxygen. If you
want the oxygen-molecule theme in Debian, you either need to package it yourself
(and file an ITP) or you need to file an RFP (Request For Packaging) and hope
somebody picks it up. oxygen-molecule has nothing to do with
gtk2-engines-oxygen.

you check with another scanner model if you can reproduce this?
Otherwise it might be a problem in libksane. Can you try to scan with a
different application that doesn't use libksane, like Gimp?

The attachment is valgrind.txt generated; there aren't all the debugging

 time).

The required packages for almost all debugging symbols are:
- kvirc-dbg
- kdebase-runtime-dbg
- kdelibs5-dbg
- libx11-6-dbg
- zlib1g-dbg

I hope the file generated right now would be useful, maybe I'll have to
download some more -dbg packages and generate another one with more symbols.

CtrlAltCa has posted a new request for debugging at [0], please try that instead

2009-11-09 Thread Kai Wasserbäch
tag 555068 + upstream fixed-upstream
retitle 555068 FIXED-UPSTREAM: [kvirc] FTBFS with binutils-gold

Dear Peter,
thank you for reporting the bug.
I've investigated the matter and traced it to the root CMakeLists.txt file which
called for linking against ${X11_LIBRARIES} (a variable set by the FindX11.cmake
script) but not against ${X11_Xrender_LIB} (and ${X11_LIBRARIES} doesn't seem to
include it).

I've fixed this problem upstream with SVN revision 3596 [0]. As we're (Raúl and
me) are momentarily fighting hard to resolve a license issue, I have good hopes,
that our next upload will include above named fix).
A test build of revision 3593 + the fix with pbuilder didn't show this (or any
other) problem(s) with binutils-gold.
If you want to confirm this, please fetch the latest revision of the debian
directory from our Mercurial repository at [1] (I used the dh7_only branch) and
combine that with the latest upstream revision.

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

retitle 539874 FIXED-UPSTREAM/PENDING: popups.kvs script broken

Dear »antsev«,
thank you for reporting the problem! As Pier has pointed out, the bug is fixed
in a later SVN revision, which is ready for upload and only lacking a sponsor
(our regular sponsor isn't reachable at the moment). We're trying hard to get
the latest package into unstable but need to rely on a sponsor for the upload.
If you can't wait to get this fixed a temporary workaround might be:
1. Fetch popup.kvs from upstream's SVN ([0]).
2. Use the packages I've built/will become the next version in Debian from [1].

If the previous workarounds shouldn't fix the problem, please consider filing an
bug report with upstream's bug tracker [2] and mark this bug as »forwarded« to
that report. Alternatively just report back, that this doesn't fix the issue and
I'll take the appropriate steps.

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

[Pkg-kde-extras] RFS: KVIrc [Fwd: KVIrc: new package to fix two bugs with high severity]

2009-07-27 Thread Kai Wasserbäch
Dear KDE Extras team,
five days ago I sent Mark the e-mail you find below and haven't received an
answer so far. As Mark seems to be offline for some while now and the newly
prepared package would fix two bugs with high severity I'm now asking one of you
for sponsorship. Other changes include the bump of the policy version and the
fixing of the remaining Lintian error, which was caused by an error in a CMake
script. For all the other changes please see [CHANGES]

I'm happy to answer any questions which might arise when checking the package
before uploading it into Debian's archives.

Thank you in advance for all your help!

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

Subject: KVIrc: new package to fix two bugs with high severity

Dear Mark,
I hope you're well, didn't hear from you (or have seen you on IRC) for quite
some time now. Raúl and myself were busy with preparing the next package, which
we think, we've ready now, especially because it would fix two bugs of severity
grave [0] and important [1]. The only issue remaining - from your POV - would
be, that we still didn't sync the Hg back to the SVN. The reason for this are
problems with hgsubversion [2], but Raúl is working on this issue. Still we
think, that all the improvements of KVIrc and the two closed bugs would make a
good point, why we should release a new package. Therefore I'd like to kindly
ask you to grab the latest source package (actually you also find an i386 and
amd64 binary package there) from my website at [3] and upload it into Debian.

Thank you in advance for your effort and work. If you should like us to make
further changes, please feel free to tell us so.

Kind regards,
Kai Wasserbäch

yes, after a e hours I asked on #debian-mentors too and two people (raphael and

I like to send everything though lists.alioth so everyone knows what is going

If it's the wish of the KDE Extras team to be kept on loop on all those beginner

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#530311: kvirc: KVIrc should suggest xterm

2009-05-23 Thread Kai Wasserbäch
Package: kvirc
Version: 2:3.4.0-3
Severity: minor

Dear maintainer,
using KVIrc for a few days I've noticed, that some functions like
tracerouting a users IP need xterm to work (if xterm isn't installed you
get errors like (translated to English it should look like the
following):
 Warning: execution of 'xterm' failed
followed by the name of the script which tried to call xterm (in this
case »hostpopup.item5«)).

Please consider adding xterm to Suggests: and maybe mention the reason
in the long description so interested users can decide if they want this
functionality or not.
