I checked the sources for kdesvn, it does not launch keditbookmarks
itself. It uses KF5::Bookmarks for that, i.e. libkf5bookmarks5.

If libkf5bookmarks5 requires keditbookmarks to work properly, it should
pull in that dependency (either via a Recommends or Depends). I'm thus
reassigning the bug report to libkf5bookmarks5.

Thanks for the patch, very much appreciated.
I've uploaded a fixed package and asked for an unblock.

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#740326: plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg: not installable in sid

 Hello,

plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg is not installable in sid since it
 depends on:

 plasma-widget-networkmanagement (= 0.9.0.9-1)

However, the version of plasma-widget-networkmanagement in sid is 0.9.3.2-2,
and this package is now provided by the plasma-nm source package.

Upstream has renamed the software and the binary packages were renamed
accordingly. We do provide a transitional package for
plasma-widget-networkmanagement to enable smooth upgrades, but none for
plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg, that's why the version numbers are
no longer in sync.

As you can see [1], plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg is no longer
built from the package and you should install plasma-nm-dbg now.

I guess we just need an ftp master to clean up the outdated
plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg in their next cruft removal.

We could provide a plasma-widget-networkmanagement-dbg transitional
package as well. But then, the popcon numbers [2] are so low, that it's
imho not worth the effort.

It still is a two-digit number in popcorn. All these users won't be able
to update, until they remove by hand the -dbg package. This makes it in
my opinion worhwhile to provide a transitional package also for the -dbg
 package.

Fair enough.

Maximiliano, do you want to take care of adding such a transitional dbg
package?

You've configured your network interface device(s) in

If you want to manage your interface with
network-manager/plasma-widget-networkmanagement, you should remove those
interfaces from /etc/network/interfaces. See also

Ok, situation was a bit more complicated, since the conffile was moved
from knm-runtime to plasma-widget-networkmanagement during the
development of wheezy.

That said, I've uploaded a fix which handles those cases.
As I don't think this issue is important enough to warrant an unblock at
this stage of the freeze, I've uploaded it to experimental.

Thanks for the bug report.

Hi,

GNOME and other desktop environments like XFCE have their own infrastructure
to setup and manage touchpads. Thus synaptiks should be hidden there.
It's probably mostly useful for KDE, so the attached patch uses
OnlyShowIn=KDE;

Thanks for considering.

Please try network-manager (0.9.4.0-5) which I've just uploaded to

[Pkg-kde-extras] Bug#669702: OpenSSL and Openconnect VPN in plasma networkmanagement

The openconnect vpn module is not problematic, as its sources are under
LGPL2.

The only part of network manager directly linking with OpenSSL is that plugin
 - I am by far not a licensing expert, but I hope this means that the rest of
the code, which just loads the plugin at runtime, does not need any
relicensing - after all, that code can't know which plugins will be loaded
 later.

That's exactly what it means, unfortunately. It is the combined work
which is problematic.

According to the copyright headers and the git log, you are the main and
actually almost the only author of that plugin. Is that correct, and if yes,
would you be willing to add a license extension as stated in [1] to the
 files,
so they can be linked with OpenSSL?

The complete networkmanagement sources which use GPL2 would need that
exemption.

I attached a patch which adds the necessary Build-Depends and Recommends for
openconnect VPNs and installs the vpnplugin files. I tested it locally and
successfully connected to a VPN using openconnect.

Unfortunately it's not that easy.
Linking against openssl requires a special exemption which I don't see
granted for networkmanagement.
So atm we can't enable this plugin.
If only openconnect would have used gnutls...

 of existing libraries!

Oh, yeah, I'm very well aware that gnutls has its own share of issues
and peculiarities.

Patches to openconnect to make it optionally use gnutls instead of
 openssl would be most welcome... and it could be done incrementally;
using gnutls just for the TCP connection first and still using OpenSSL
for DTLS (which happens in openconnect(8) not in libopenconnect). That
would be enough to solve this issue, and adding PKCS#11 support and DTLS
 support could come later.

Personally I don't have the time to work on that but would appreciate
any efforts in that direction.

The reply from the author is that the plasma networkmanager compiled against
 KDE 4.6 is incompatible with KDE 4.7 (I have kde-workspace 4.7.4-1)

This means plasma-widget-networkmanagement should be recompiled with newer
KDE, and made to conflict with wrong KDE versions.

You are aware that KDE 4.7 is only available in experimental and
packages in unstable can't be built against packages from experimental.

That said, I don't think this is the right fix for this issue.
If solid broke its ABI the problem needs to be addressed there.

Dear ftp-masters,

I filed 613508 three months ago, about getting guidance-power-manager ported to
newer interfaces and stop using hal, so we can get rid of hal eventually.

So far, no-one has replied. The last upstream version of guidance-power-manager

and with powerdevil there exists an integrated power management solution in
KDE4.

So I hereby request the removal of guidance-power-manager for unstable/testing.

Please let me know, as soon as you have filed a bug against libsvn-dev. Let's
then block this bug by the bug against libsvn-dev.
As soon as libsvn-dev is fixed, we can fix the kdesvn bug by a binNMU.

I've looked into this more closely.
kdesvn uses libsvn and runs
apu-config --link-ld --libs
to get the necessary link flags.
This outputs:

NM versions previous to 0.8.1 only had a simple Enable/Disable API. This
did not allow to differentiate if this action was initated by the user
(and the state needed to be kept across reboots) or e.g. by the pm-utils
when doing suspend/resume.

NM 0.8.1 introduced a new API besides the sleep/wake one, which should
be used by frontends.

plasma-widget-networkmanagement needs to be updated to use this new API.

Are you able to reproduce the bug? Or, can I provide further infos?

I can't reproduce the bug here. knm works fine with a fully up-to-date sid
system and I don't believe it is a general problem, but a local issue you have.
Could you try if you can reproduce the problem with a fresh user account?

What does nm-tool say (run as normal user)?
Could you show me the output of ls -la /etc/dbus-1/system.d

Thanks,
Michael

Hi,

I want to drop libdbus-qt-1-1c2 before squeeze is released.
kdebluetooth is the only remaining reverse dependency. Please
update your package accordingly.

Could you please attach the file /var/lib/NetworkManager/NetworkManager.state

 Hi Michael,

NM-KDE has an option to set VPN Connection for only a certain Address
Range. This can be set through the Only use VPN Connection for these
Addresses option in the Optional Information tab in NM-KDE.

That setting is not keep intact by NM-KDE. Once I set it and save, and
then again when I open the config window, the setting is not there.

This setting is important for many users who connect to office networks
from home but would still like to be connected to IRC, when at home.

Hi,

Hi,

your package uses policykit (via libpolkit-qt0) which is going away and
replaced by policykit-1.
We don't want to ship two policykit stacks in squeeze, so please port
your application to this new API or disable policykit support.

The new policykit-1 packages can safely be co-installed to the existing
policykit package for easier porting and testing.

2009-08-04 Thread Michael Biebl
Package: kdesvn

Review debian/copyright, given the comments of Mike O'Connor:

---
Hi Maintainer,

Although I'm going to accept this package, there are some discrepencies in
debian/copyright that should be addressed:

src/svnqt/cache/conversion_check.hpp is
  Copyright (c) 2006 Thomas Braxton brax...@cox.net

The Copyright statement for Rajko Albrecht should cover 2005-2009, not
just 2005

some of the files in svnqt are GPL2 and Copyright Rajko Albrecht,
though the copyright file clains they are are LGPL2.1 and Copyright
The RapidSvn Group.

Is any of the code actually covered by the SSLeay or OpenSSL licenses?
I don't find any.

Thanks,

I've asked dbus upstream, and according to him, these log messages are rather

The dbus 1.2.1-5 version in Debian contains the relevant fixes (they were

Could you please take a look at [1], is this related to [2] or a different

It's the same type of denial, yep. The key parts are:

 type=method_return
 requested_reply=0

It's an unrequested reply, so it's being denied. I'm guessing it's a HAL bug.

Anyways these denials are typically harmless; we should probably
 consider not auditing them.

Reassigning to hal and downgrading to normal.

can you still reproduce this bug with kdesvn 1.2.2 (KDE 4) from experimental and
/ or kdesvn 1.0.4 (KDE 3) from unstable?

Hi Frans,

are you using group powerdev to control access to hal or consolekit?

If the latter, what does ck-list-sessions say?

Could you also please send me your /etc/dbus-1/system.d/hal.conf

(If it is a bug, then it is in HAL and not kpowersave)

Ok, this looks all good and I can't reproduce your problems.

Does it help if you reload dbus (restart dbus) or reboot your laptop?

It seems 100% clear to me that the error must be related to the dbus
upgrade. I'm afraid I cannot help you much with why.

Yeah, the dbus upgrade made the default policy more strict.
But the hal.conf dbus policy should be fixed (and your version looks fine) for
this dbus version.

Do you use static groups via /etc/groups or a networked setup like nis or ldap?
