I've not really played with MusicIP much, but, yes it would be nice
having an option to create a playlist based on the current song.

If CLI support was added to the SC for MusicIP, it should be a
very simple and quick addition to Moose.

Alternatively, I'm guessing the MusicIP IDs are stored in the database
somewhere ? That being the case, Moose should be able to use a
locally running MusicIP mixer to create its own playlists, display
library searches of related tracks, etc..

So much to do, so little time..

Can I second that - haven't been using Moose long but it is great for
feedback on whats playing and controlling my SqueezeBox - not so great
on picking what you want to listen to in the first place though, the
library and server trees are no more useful than the SC browser
interface (love the cover art method of browsing though, although you
need to be able to pick tracks from here not just the whole album.)
Moose with a simple 'M' type MusicIp selection method would be
stunning!!

Can I also put in a vote for being able to hover over the Artist,
Album, Track etc fields displayed on the main 'whats playing' page
(does this look like a Sonos controller screen or is it just me? :-)
and click through to info pages so you could choose to play that entire
album say or go see a page of that artists albums you have in your
collection and play one of these. Not SC browser info page, your own
Moose ones please - they are much, much quicker and a lot prettier!
:-)

2008-04-06 Thread Blu3IcE

He you did a great job at this!

I have just one little thing.

Since Moose seems to be able to find album covers in Amazon, I was
wondering if it's maybe possible to save those looked up covers (for
the songs who doesn't already have a cover) in an extra folder so that
I can add these later to my cover directory on my SC server.

Would be the best, greatest feature ever ;-)
So please, please ... :-)))

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: InguzEQ / InguzDSP room correction

 I presume it
is the adjustment of audio interface gain, not amplifer volume. Is
 that correct?

Either are good, as long as the audio level remains at a reasonable
listening level (neither deafening, nor lost in ambient noise)

When adjusting the Right channel gain of the audio interface, should
the gain be adjusted so that the peak level is below the top and bottom
of the range or -6dB mark? The Left channel gain should be left
 untouched?

Assuming left channel == line in channel, then yes, leave it untouched.

 Does it look right below?

Looks good!

You have trimmed the audio file quite close to the end of the sweep. Ive
occasionally seen that cause problems - although not in this case. The
amount of silence you have before the sweep looks like the amount I would
normally leave at both ends.

But the important question is how does it sound?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicIp Squeezecenter Windows Home Server

2008-04-06 Thread Timbo

Hi folks,

I have given up after three hours of searching and reading, I now have
a numb bum and need to go get a life! So whilst I swan around town
drinking cups of coffee can anyone help? I have SqueezeCenter running
on Windows Home Server (Tranquil PC) very happily and I would love to
integrate MusicIp with SC and get it to make me some of those great
playlists of stuff I haven't heard for years! I have been testing
MusicIp working on a local Vista PC looking at the music folder on my
WHS and it seems to be happy analysing stuff and making up playlists
and playing them locally. But of course because I don't have SC on the
local PC it won't send them to SC. I haven't done anything else as I
wanted to find all the plugin installation details first before I
messed something up - however, there don't appear to be any, so...can
anyone run me through it?

I have been reading about 'headless' installs, cache moving, running as
service and all sorts of stuff, I am afeared given this small amount of
knowledge it is likely I could mess up big time! Even if I do get it
installed, how do I use it? Will my laptop local copy be able to send
playlists to my SC running on the WHS box? I don't use the remote, I
use either Moose or browser interface on my laptop.

Thanks in advance and see you all after a size-able caffeine intake
:-)

Timbo.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] SlimNAS 0.9 Beta forSqueezeCenter 7.0

2008-04-06 Thread Michael Herger
This can't be right. What's the point of making that copy in the first
place, if the original files are used?

Work around FreeNAS inability to follow symlinks. I was using them in earlier
versions of SlimNAS. But then the web server's configuration was changed to no
longer follow symlinks. As by default that file system is run from a ram disk,
the files are being copied there at startup.

Another BTW: The config.xml sets up services_slimserver_stop.php to be
run on system shutdown, but that file doesn't exist.

That's a good pointer. Will have to take a look at this...

Thanks for the reply.
The filters help reduce the boomy bass problem in my rectangular shaped
listening room. The bass is leaner and the midrange seems clearer and
cleaner as well.

However, there is a something I don't quite understand.
I have been using SC7 on my NAS but it is not powerful enough to run
the filters. Therefore, I set up another SC7 on my notebook (CPU Intel
DuoCore 2GHz, 2GB Ram running Vista) where the InguzEQ was installed and
InguzDSP was set for decoding FLAC, etc.

I happened to compare the quality served from my NAS and from my
notebook (without any Room Correction filter). I was pretty much
expecting no difference. To my surprise, the quality from my NAS is
much better. The sound is more open, dynamic, louder and faster. Of
course, the room acoustic problem is there.

Changing from InguzDSP back to Native seems to help but not much. I
cannot figure out what possibly is going on?

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SongFileViewer plugin

2008-04-06 Thread Phil Meyer
I've just knocked up a new plugin, based on Michael Herger's FileViewer plugin.

I've called it SongFileViewer. It is used to display the content of files that
are found within the local folder (and any sub-folders) where the currently
playing track is located.

It can therefore be used to display locally stored song or album information,
such as album reviews.

I've developed and tested it on SqueezeCenter 7.1 under Windows XP. It should
work on SC 7.0 and later, and I hope will work on any operating/file system.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] XM not showing up on Duet controller

2008-04-06 Thread Howard Passman

I just bought the duet also and installed the 2.0 XM plug in. After
some fiddling it does show up on my controller, but only if I ad XM
stations to my favorites or playlists. It even displays XM logo on
the controller. I'm not sure what I might have done different, but I'd
be glad to retrace my steps if anyone wants.

Right now I'm at work and would have to do it when I get home.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] AlienBBC error loading remote feed alienbbc.opml

2008-04-06 Thread jamullian

Hmm ...

I have the same issue:

There was an error loading the remote feed for Alien BBC: (Unable to
open file '\\NAS2165\Qmultimedia\Music\alienbbc.opml')

And I saw the same read-only permissions level, (although the share is
set to Everyone/Full Access), so I removed the read-only flag for all
the shared music and playlist sub-directories. And restarted SS.

And I still get the same error.

Do I need to re-install AlienBBC 2.0? (btw the little test routine
worked just fine)

Hi Blu3IcE,

You should be able to save the downloaded pictures already. If you
right-click over a cover the menu should have a save option which lets
you save the full downloaded image as a jpeg, or whatever.

Now, yes, I know what you're going to ask next, and yes an 'auto-save
all downloaded covers in a folder' option should be quite easy to add. I'll
see what I can do.. :-)

Im hoping to redesign the now playing info at some point to display more

Try the reset menu (I think) in the AlienBBC Settings. It will
re-write alienbbc.opml.

If there is still an error - then there is still a permissions issue.

I'm pretty sure the Term message may be coming from mplayer and can be
ignored.

More logging info will help.

Can you change the mplayer options in custom-convert.conf from
--really-quiet to --quiet
Run SC from a Terminal window to capture console output.
Can you enable logging (Setting/Advanced/Loggin)
plugin.alienbbc to INFO
player.source to INFO
Start playing a BBC Listen Again program
copy the console log into a text file, compress as ZIP and then attach
to a post.
