Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] aac streams on SC 7.2: where does mplayer go on a mac?
I've been using my SB3 with the shiny new AACplus streams for a few days now, and I notice that when a station (such as Paradise) has the facility to provide a readout on the SB of what's playing (after you press Now Playing), it takes quite a while for the Now Playing readout to change to match the actual playing track. In other words, there's a delay between the song changing and the readout changing. Is there anything I can do at my end to fix the delay? It wasn't like this when I was using 6.5.x - in fact it was a more or less instant change. -- whitman whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56028 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] aac streams on SC 7.2: where does mplayer go on a mac?
It's a known problem due to fact that SC doesn't know SB is playing a Flac stream - SC thinks it is a slow AACplus (e.g. 128 or 48k bit) streams as guesses the amount of music time in the SB buffer wheras SB has a 1500kbps Flac stream and has about 10 or 20 times less music time buffered. Problem is much worse with slow streams. AACplus hooks into SC in an unapproved way to enable the radio text to be displayed - if I used the Normal transcodiong like Alien - there would be no text at all. The method also meant a full blown Plugin did not have to be developed. I do not want to maintain another plugin. I might be able to do something in 7.3 as there have been changes which look promising. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56028 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

1.0.4 seems to have solved my issues. My 4000 albums load reasonably quickly (from SC7.3 on readynas duo), with the correct album art, and don't have to be reloaded each time I start ipeng. Maybe just my imagination, but the response time on using ipeng seems a little faster. I have only one remaining minor point that I mentioned a while back. When I look at all albums for an artist, albums containing songs where the artist is ONLY listed as a composer also show up. The options to do this on purpose within SC are turned OFF, so I'm not sure why ipeng is classifying them in this way. But this is a very minor point. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.3: updates for SaverSwitcher, SyncOptions, PlayLog, and others
The easiest way to get up-to-date when you're running SqueezeCenter 7.3 is to delete my plugins from your normal Plugins directory and use the web Settings Extension Downloader with my extension respository URL, http://www.tux.org/~peterw/slim/slim7/repodata.xml -- Extension Downloader not only simplifies installation, but also learning about applying updates. I prefer manual install. I added your repo to Extension Downloader, and it doesn't seem to list all of your plugins listed from your web page (http://www.tux.org/~peterw/#slim). eg. I know I have manually installed ContextMenu. i.e. ContextMenu does not show up as either an available plugin or a manually installed plugin. I would love it if Extension Downloader could indicate if a newer version of a manually installed plugin were available. I could then follow the link and update manually. Lots of things see announcement but there was a rewrite of the streaming (incl. transcoding) module which improves the sync capabilities. I think the rewrite can enable me to tell SC that that trnascoding to Flac is being used and so A beta feature is enabling SB controller to be a SB player and so user can use SC/listen through earbuds on a portable SB. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] 7.3: updates for SaverSwitcher, SyncOptions, PlayLog, and others
is the only problem with Extension Downloader the lack of ability to set the location? It's not the only problem. I have a lot of plugins installed. I keep on the bleeding edge of development. One of the problems I see is that a lot of plugins have a maxVersion check, and thus would not available for installation, even though they work with the latest SC trunk code. I tweaked the code to just report a warning in the log if maxVersion was exceeded. Other users tweak the install.xml to get them to run. But with Extension Downloader, I guess you don't get an option - you can't install them (are they even listed?). I'd prefer it if maxVersion were only set by plugin developers if they know for certain what the max version is. Even then, the plugin may work with limited capability past the max version (some functionality may not work, but may not cause SC problems). I prefer to disable plugins (or move plugins out of the plugin folder) only if they cause problems. Now that 7.3 is released I hope to add a command line option to set the plugin location for extension downloader to install to, would this fix it? Likely to be --extensionsdir That would be great. A prefs file setting would be good too, with --extensionsdir overriding the prefs setting. If I set that to the Server/Plugins folder, would the extension downloader be in harmony with manually installed plugins - i.e. allow them to be uninstalled/updated as if they had been installed via the extension downloader? Assuming one has any hair left in the first place. Seriously: this sounds like a good development. The automated installer will be very good as it should simplify installs, make sure correct versions are installed and notify when updates are available. However it will still depend on the extension author to create the right package and since this is a new facility - I expect some teething problem with initial implementation For people who want least amount of stress - do complete system backups often. - Use a mainstream platform - not a minority one. - Do not install unnecessary s/w (i.e. no trials, demos etc) or addons. - don't tweak the system for any reason (e.g. not for faster download or uses less memory or more responsive) - never upgrade unless you really have to (i.e. the upgrade has a definite bug fix - not it might fix it) - never install a .0 - so in this case wait for 7.3.1 - if you must upgrade, allow some time (a few weeks) between release and actually upgrading. -- bpa bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56028 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

I first tried the test version, where you had to edit the file to * , but that didnt work, so I installed the latest. Its supposed to work with SqueezeCenter 7.0 to 7.2. It looks like this : targetApplication idSqueezeCenter/id minVersion7.0a/minVersion maxVersion7.3/maxVersion /targetApplication Anyway, I contacted Hugh, and he found out it has to do with the decimal separator, it doesnt agree with the norwegian language on my computer I believe, a fix is underway -- Anne Squeezebox 3 Stereovox XV2 Bryston B100-DA SST Martin Logan Aeon I Anne's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=10071 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56394 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

Again, I have zero Ubantu or debian experience...and, for that matter, limited experience in mounting nas shares from linux. On my Fedora box, I think I would try an approach like this: Assuming that you are using pm-suspend to get into S3 sleep, create a 15nas script in /etc/pm/sleep.d: Code: #!/bin/bash # unmount networkshare on QNAP 109 II NAS before going to standby. # re mount the share when coming out of suspend.. # # Note that this file belongs in /etc/pm/sleep.d/15nas and must be executable . /usr/lib/pm-utils/functions unmount_nas() { /bin/umount /mnt/nas_mount_point } remount_nas() { /bin/mount -t nfs qnap_ip:/sharepoint /mnt/nas_mount_point } case $1 in hibernate|suspend) unmount_nas ;; thaw|resume) remount_nas ;; *) ;; esac exit $? That script assumes that you connect to the qnap using nfs. Again, given my limited experience, I don't know if that is likely to be the case. Anyway, I'm cribbing this idea from Syburgh's WindPC wiki: http://wiki.syburgh.com/audio0-local#toc22 ..and for all I know, autofs might take care of all this for you automatically. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

ManfredK2;370347 Wrote: @gharris999 Hi, i am running your tool on my Duet an a standalone Ubunu 8.10-Server on Dell SX270. Works perfect :-) Now I am looking for a solution to unmount my networkshare on QNAP 109 II NAS before going to standby. QNAP 109 II only spins down harddisk if there is no samba connection to it. Is it possible to modify the script so that a umount /media/nas is done before sending the Dell to suspend? Greetings Manfred To specifically answer your question, yes, it is possible. The command line that SrvrPowerCtrl executes to initiate suspending can point to anything, including your own script. It just has to be executable by the squeezecenter user via permissions in /etc/sudoers. So yes, you could write a script that umounts before calling pm-suspend. However, SrvrPowerCtrl, at this stage in it's development, doesn't have a clue when a system comes out of suspend. So it's not like it will be smart enough to remount the qnap's share when the system wakes up. So, I'd try the methods outlined in the previous posts. They're independent of SrvrPowerCtrl and directly tied into the suspend/wake events on your system. -- gharris999 gharris999's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=115 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=48521 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Trackstat/Custom Scan Export: Missing Data
Many track ratings which are shown in my SC web interface are for some reason not being exported to the TrackStat_iTunes_Complete.txt file using Erland's Custom Scan plugin. Why would this be so? For example, I have rated all of the tracks in a Fleet Foxes album in the last 2 weeks. But there are no lines in the export file showing this rating data- there is only data showing when they were last played, e.g.: Ragged Wood|||C:\Documents and Settings\Steven\My Documents\My Music\E to L\Fleet Foxes - Fleet Foxes\03 ragged wood.mp3|played|20081214202306|100 That is not to say there is no rating data at all- there are plenty other instances where the ratings have been recorded, e.g.: No Easy Love|||C:\Documents and Settings\Steven\My Documents\My Music\A to D\Annie - Anniemal\08 - no easy love.mp3|rated||80||1209841448 If I ask the Custom Scan to continuously write history file, any new played and rated data are written to the file without any problems. It is as if certain data has been lost at some point in the last few weeks- but according to the SC web interface, these ratings are still present and correct? I'd appreciate any help. Philip Meyer;370372 Wrote: is the only problem with Extension Downloader the lack of ability to set the location? I see that as a plugin author issue, but yes people should only really set maxVesion if they know it won't work (which Alien does as there are multiple versions due to api changes) I'll think about what will be possible with the command line option - my original thought would not allow you to set it to the location of the manually installed plugins but I will think about it... -- Triode Triode's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=17 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=56358 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/lists/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: SuperDateTime - Current Date/Temperature and/or Baseball Screensaver
I'd like the date displayed, but don't really have the real estate on my SB3 to fit it in. Is there any chance the forecast description can be modified to contain it? ie, rather than saying Today: Thunderstorms have it say Today, 15 Dec: Thunderstorms ? Cheers.
