 - A user interface designer without any development knowledge
 and
 - A user interface developer with design experience, preferably with
knowledge in Java or some other multi platform language as we need
support for at least Windows, OSX and Linux.

At this stage it's more about designing user interfaces than creating

PM or mail me if you are interested and I'll give you more information.
If you can spare a few hours a week that should be enough.

I'm not interested in beta testers at this stage but we will eventually

Just lifting this thread again in case there is some user interface

[SlimDevices: Plugins] Future of Spotify on Squeezebox

2011-04-17 Thread ncameron

I use Spotify all the time on my Squeezebox 3 and three Booms; it now
appears that Logitech is brain-damaging their own Plugin such that it
will now only work on Touch and Radio.
I got my first evidence of this when I upgraded to a new Nightly 2 days
ago and found that Spotify disappeared from my Internet Radio options.
I downgraded and got it back, and have now unselected 'automatically
upgrade plugins' and have it back - for now.
I was offered the new Squeezebox Server upgrade this morning and turned
it down as I'm terrified of losing Spotify.
I see that the advice in this Forum in such circumstances is to move to
the Triode 3rd Party Spotify plugin; but I'm not offered that in my
list, and I see no other way to install it. It's also said that you
have to upgrade Squeezebox Servber to be able to see the Triode Spotify
option, but I don't want to do that as I may lose the Logitech Plugin
and still not be offered the Triode one!
Don't want to paint myself into a corner and lose Spotify!
Where do I go from here?!

Neil

The 3rd party plugin should definitely be available for install and
should be able to coexist with the built in support. Is it not
available from the recommended 3rd party plugins section of the
plugin web page?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-04-17 Thread mrw

I have noticed that flash MP3 listen again streams no longer appear to
be available.

This is evident with BBC Radio 4 Extra listen again streams, which will
fail to play if 'Use Flash AAC streams' is disabled.
I tested a couple of BBC Radio 4 listen again streams. These did
play, but in a WMA mode, not MP3.

Looking more closely, it seems as if some server/host information might
have gone AWOL from the BBC's connecting up data.

It's not a show-stopper for me, because the AAC streams are playing
fine, but I thought I would flag it up as a potential problem.

2011-04-17 Thread Leonard1052

seren;625871 Wrote:
Happy to find someone with the same system and same problems, cycom!!
I'm afraid it's something related to our machine. the question is what
 :)

Concerning the multiple slimserver processes. I just can't limit it to
one. It keeps starting up multiple ones. And I guess that's the problem
actually, together with the multiple ports used, confusing the spotify
plugin. SBS itself runs just fine with these multiple processes running
and the SBS web interface settings still work on the default 9000
 port.
I'm not sure, but vagely remember that before installing the Triode
plugin, SBS just ran with one single process. But as said, not sure.
Should check that by uninstalling the plugin again.

However, what struck me, is that SSODS lists the helper app port 9005
in stead of the SBS port in the status screen as the URL to access
SBS???!!! Cycom, does that happen with you too?

So I think there is some conflict with our older Synology, SSODS
(4.9.1, we can't run a newer version, we have a funny system
according to SSODS :) funny Marvell Orion/Kirkwood) and the triode
 plugin.

Hopefully this gets solved soon. Because I am not happy with SSODS, it
doesn't hybernate as good as the native SBS Synology package in my
experience. So without Spotify I don't have any reason to run SSODS.
Anyone have uninstall instructions for SSODS, can't find them anywhere?

I have had the same problem: instability of the SB package etc. so I
decided to install the SSODS with SB 7.5.2 version. Until Triode said
that the new SB 7.5.3. would run steady with his latest plugin and DSM
3.1. What I did was, not knowing how to uninstall the SSODS software
too, I stopped the SSODS server. So it is still on my server but not
active. I installed the SB .spk file ver 7.5.3. and Triodes plugin
after I upgraded the Diskmanager to version 3.1.Everything works
smoothly now!
My system: Synology DS210j (slightly different than yours)and SB Duet
The only thing is that the server doesn't show album pictures anymore.
I don't know why this is and hope someone can help me with that.

I have no idea but bear in mind Touch and Radio uses the official
spotify app and it does also work from mysqueezebox.com without the
server running but the old players that uses Triodes plugin must be
conected to the server running the plugin, so if you connect an older
player directly to mysqueezebox.com I assume that the spotify menu
would go away ?

Note that you don't need to switch servers if you have a local server
running all radio can be handled (better)trough it, just enable
mysqueezebox.com integration and have the server knowing your login via
the mysqueezebox.com tab in the settings

Yesterday on the iPhone I destroyed a playlist trying browse and add an

I think I'm using the current version of iPeng on the iPhone. I thought
you had been fixing this ?
I tried using Party Mode but even with every option set to off, it is a
bit too much.

How about this if you want to keep the shortcut:
When browsing and hitting an album image,
- if the selected player or group has no playlist, play at once
- if has a playlist, show the album as when hitting the album title.

Why does iPeng recache everything after it have been in the background

When I start iPeng i can get that it shakes hand with the server

But if put iPeng in the background and use some other app for a while
and then chose iPeng again, it painstakingly reloads all these menus
again ?

Can this be improved ?

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Erland: Lyrics plugin

2011-04-17 Thread Nocko!

Wow, Erland, you're great !

The above mentioned problem with {} disappeared - thank you. But
perhaps I have to describe that I had changed the plugin in a way that
it only asked Musixmatch because Chartlyrics has a real bad hit rate
compared to Musixmatch.

With your update there are no more {}'s with this Talking Heads record.
But a strange beahviour stays:
Sometimes it finds the correct lyrics, especially with the singles And
she was and Road to Nowhere but most of the time it shows No Lyrics
Available.

In general Song Lyrics is now by far better than before so I don't want
to give you more to work. But because you asked here are a few tags only
from the above mentioned singles because I have seen that there are
lyrics for these two songs.

Album:
Little Creatures
Artist:
Talking Heads
Title:
And She Was

and

Album:
Little Creatures
Artist:
Talking Heads
Title:
Road to Nowhere

Right now it happened that the lyrics for And She Was were shown for
a second (delivered by Chartlyrics) and then disappeared to a No
Lyrics Available.

I have to mention three things:
1. Don't spend to much time in Talking Heads. It was just the one
example which shows a strange symptom. I am no die hard fan of
Talking Heads.

2. Although it seems that Chartlyrics serves the lyrics for the both
singles mentioned above, I still prefer Musixmatch by far. It seems to
me that changing the way Musixmatch is asked by your plugin helps a
lot.

3. THANK YOU !
Nocko!

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: BBCiPlayer Plugin (UK only)

2011-04-17 Thread Wigster

I am running .16 on SBS 7.6 and a Squeezebox 3.

I've been experiencing weird behaviour over the last couple of months,
on SBS 7.5 also. Quite frequently, when I try to listen again to a show
and I try to access it through the SB3 remote it pretends to start and
then just says Stopped with the title of the show.

However, going though the web interface, the stream can be coerced into
playing: it usually involves reloading the web page a couple of times
and pressing play. Skipping forward also works, but only when the
stream cover graphic has been loaded successfully, which it doesn't
sometimes until the page is reloaded.

All in all it's working, but a little unstably. I am listening to the
AAC streams outside the UK.

whoa it's sensitive to file paths? hmmm that rings a bell. been a
couple of years since i've played with this :) could explain my
trouble

i'm messing around on how to do this on a separate server. Reason
being I run SBS on a solaris 10 x86 box (ZFS, RAID-Z, and a giant
archive of data). What I did a couple years back was run a Linux zone
virtually on the same server, and it worked out ok.

What i've been trying this time is running it on a Debian server on the
same network, mounting the music via NFS, and then doing an ssh
port-forward back from the solaris box. yes i know, seems like i'm
going out of my way to make it more difficult :) just experimenting.
I can go back to the linux zone method, it's just another thing to set
up.

What I'll probably end up doing in the longterm, is just make the
solaris box a giant NFS server for applications like SBS, and then
running stuff on Debian or something. Solaris had a good run but now
that Oracle owns it we'll see even less people in the opensource
community supporting it.

[SlimDevices: Plugins] iTunesUpdate not working!

2011-04-17 Thread squeezeb

Would appreciate any help.

Succesfully MAKEd everything with XCode under terminal and have tried a

Placed the iTunesUpdate folder in appropriate location.
Have it checked on under 3rd party plugins in the web interface, and
have it set to DIRECT.
Running iTunes 10, SqueezeCenter 7.5.4.

I've tried putting the iTunesUpdate into a Boom menu, hit play, and it
says that Nothing's being played, or something to that effect.
Songs play, no update seen in play count in iTunes.

Any suggestions?

The additional problem of our DS107+ is the limited memory (128MB). As

slow. I could try 7.5.3 with SSODS, but I guess that will be not

the beta version 7.6.0 r31xxx (not sure of the number) - I downloaded
 it in January this year.

But I've just downloaded a later beta 7.6.0 32300 - and there is now a
 problem with lazysearch.

It used to be that if you did a search for, say, BOWIE it would find
David Bowie and when you pressed right arrow it would give you a

Now, it finds David Bowie but a right arrow just loops back to
David Bowie again. (I'm just using Bowie as an example - it's true
with all the values I've tried).

Not a disaster, but a bit annoying. And of course, the old version of
the 7.6.0 beta which worked ok is no longer available on the web site.

(I'm using the 7.6 beta as it uses SQLLite - I'm running my server

I have noticed that flash MP3 listen again streams no longer appear to

This is evident with BBC Radio 4 Extra listen again streams, which will
fail to play if 'Use Flash AAC streams' is disabled.
I tested a couple of BBC Radio 4 listen again streams. These did
play, but in a WMA mode, not MP3.

Looking more closely, it seems as if some server/host information might
have gone AWOL from the BBC's connecting up data.

It's not a show-stopper for me, because the AAC streams are playing
fine, but I thought I would flag it up as a potential problem.

 Log entry:

Thanks for identifying this. It looks like the xml feeds from the bbc
no longer include the mp3 details for all but 4extra. The 4extra ones
are there but incomplete. The plugin deals with no entry, but not the
incomplete ones.. Will check and potentially remove the mp3 support if
these are no longer available.

I've been experiencing weird behaviour over the last couple of months,

and I try to access it through the SB3 remote it pretends to start and
then just says Stopped with the title of the show.

However, going though the web interface, the stream can be coerced into
playing: it usually involves reloading the web page a couple of times
and pressing play. Skipping forward also works, but only when the
stream cover graphic has been loaded successfully, which it doesn't
sometimes until the page is reloaded.

Windows error 10060 means connection timeout
(http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms740668%28v=vs.85%29.aspx) -
so this probably means that there were network problems accessing their
site. I suspect this is the cause of your problems, but if you set the
plugin.bbciplayer.rtmp logging level to debug then you should see
more entries in the server log which will help diagnose.

Stuart, just a bit of warning. I'm not sure if Logitech has decided if
they are going to release 7.6 from trunk or the onebrowser branch yet,
I suspect these problems might only be related to the onebrowser branch
which currently is used for the nightly 7.6 builds. So if Logitech would
decide to release 7.6 from trunk, you might have to change back if you
do the changes already now.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] MusicInfoScrn - Music Information Screen: why always crashing after scan?

2011-04-17 Thread SamS

Hi Michael,

I have found a way to consistently break the MusicInfoScrn to result in
the overlay-text behavior described earlier.

With the player stopped and screensaver on, if I use SBS to clear the
current playlist, the display will be garbled/have overlay text.

I'm using the latest nightly build 7.6.

Now, for some reason iPeng for iPad and iPhone won't honor the bit-rate
limiting options I have set when using wi-fi and will default to
no-limit.

I have to start playback and manually go into the server settings and
change it =[

Am I the only one with this issue?

 Thanks for your info!!

The additional problem of our DS107+ is the limited memory (128MB). As
of SBS 7.5.3, this is too little to run, so making it impossible for us
to run Synology SBS 7.5.3 package. I tried, it was totally unusably
slow. I could try 7.5.3 with SSODS, but I guess that will be not
 different.

Limited memory should not be the problem. My server DS210j has 128MB
too.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] LazySearch and 7.6.0 r32296/32300

2011-04-17 Thread Stuart Hickinbottom
Ah yes, thanks for the reminder. I'd noticed the onebrowser switch might
have been temporary when it was merged to the 7.6 trunk a while back.

A pointer from Logitech on whether this is likely to live-on for the the
7.6 would be appreciated.

Meanwhile, I'll work on any changes to the plugin in a branch so it'll
be revertible.

Hello, yes thanks for the report. I've heard there are problems with

I'm hoping to look into this in the next couple of days - I've been

but should have a few hours soon... I've not forgotten about it and
  will
  fix it soon.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Beta version of SvrPowerControl

2011-04-17 Thread gharris999

Ok, I've posted version 20110417.170325.

Code:

==
  What's new: 20110417

==
1). Added support for hidden custom commands. If a custom command's label
begins with a ., then the command will be hidden on player and the web
menus, but the command will be available as an action item in the settings.

Example: label: .Hidden Command command: cli://tracks 0 500 new

2). If a custom command whose label == .autoexec exists, that command will
be
executed on plugin startup, i.e. when SBS first starts. The .autoexec
custom command gets executed 30 seconds after the On Wakeup: Seconds to
wait before trying to restore value. I.e. the .autoexec command will be
executed AFTER players are fetched back from mysb.com and after syncgroups
  have been reestablished.

See the discussion at
http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=87070 for one possible
use for this feature.

I think I'm using the current version of iPeng on the iPhone. I thought
you had been fixing this ?

Nope.
There is not really something to fix, it's a feature. It's just not
present on iPad because there you have to sometimes hit the cover for
actions other than playing an album.
A lot of people actually have been requesting this feature for iPad,
too, btw, so it's really a question of perspective.

I tried using Party Mode but even with every option set to off, it is a
 bit too much.

I was planning to add another option to party mode maybe, but that's
not yet fully made up.

How about this if you want to keep the shortcut:
When browsing and hitting an album image,
 - if the selected player or group has no playlist, play at once

It's extremely unusual to not have a playlist ever on the Squeezebox.

Why does iPeng recache everything after it have been in the background
 for a while ?

Do you see the blue progress bar?
It should only re-request one page.
That's needed because otherwise iPeng can't know whether there might
have been changes to the database while iPeng was in the background.
Also, iPeng frees up a lot of memory when in the background to be a
good iOS citizen and not to be quit by iOS too early.

But if put iPeng in the background and use some other app for a while
and then chose iPeng again, it painstakingly reloads all these menus
 again ?

 Can this be improved ?
How?

I believe iPeng overrides the bitrate limiting for itself. The reason
is to allow for the use of bitrate limiting with 3G.
I will improve this in one of the next versions but it will be a bit of
work.
