Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] iPeng support thread
Hello Pippin You may remember way back in 2013, we had a good thrashing out of Artist/Album Artist display behaviour for compilation albums, with you and Michael getting your heads together. One problem turned out to be a longstanding server-side issue and Michael successfully fixed it, to the delight of several users (I believe someone called the fix a miracle!). Another problem however was iPeng-side and not a problem in LMS Web UI. I believe you found the fix here: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?51929-iPeng-support-threadp=750711viewfull=1#post750711 (see preceding posts for discussion) A lot has changed since then however, the problem still persists for me (iPeng 8.1.2) when compilation tag is set to 1, i.e: Server settings: Use single, configurable list of Artists + List compilation albums under each artist Tags on FLAC files: Compilation = 1, Album Artist = eg Soundtrack, Artist = e.g. Brian Eno, Iggy Pop, New Order, etc, Problem (a): in iPeng, go to Artists Select the Album Artist e.g. 'Soundtrack' Select the Album the list of tracks all display the Album Artist e.g. 'Soundtrack' and not the 'Track Artist' which it should display e.g. Brian Eno, Iggy Pop etc In fact, the problem has got 'worse' because what used to display perfectly in iPeng now has problems: Problem (b) : same server settings as above, in iPeng, go to Albums, select the Album, the list of tracks now has some displaying the Album Artist and some displaying the 'Track Artist' Problem (c) - change the server setting to 'Group Compilation Albums Together' - Whether go to Artists Album Artist Select the Album OR to Album Select the Album the list of tracks now has some displaying the Album Artist and some displaying the 'Track Artist' in identical pattern to problem (b) Would you kindly be able to try and replicate (and hopefully fix) this? If you can't do it easily, then I can post back with more details/screen grabs/test files as always. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Spotify Premium Plugin (Beta)
I am using this plugin for more then a year now. It works perfect. Only the last couple of months I have the issue that my password for spotify is forgotten by the plugin. It gives in the server log the following info: Plugins::Spotify::Spotifyd::relogin (219) requesting relogin Re-entering the password makes that it works again. I did that on friday and had to do it again today. I want to get rid of this. And I don't know what it is. Some facts: - I use Facebook login for Spotify - My password for Facebook was 2 years old (changed it today, don't keno if that has any influence) Anyone an idea what makes that the plugin forgets the password? ad6922's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=36131 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=79706 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

No, what Michael concluded was that if I used the server menu I could show it differently. Yes, I could do that if I wanted to stop to also show all the other information like duration, file format and so on and used the formatting like Michael's App does. But I'm not going to do that. If the server returns the wrong information when I correctly query it that's a server issue, no matter if some other method somehow _could_ extract a different set of info. utgg wrote: For the adventurous, I've been having a play with adding live updating text for the all the BBC radio channels - since RadioVis only provides text information for Radio1 and 1xtra. I've done this with regular http polling (every 30 seconds) of a URL that is used by the official iPlayer app for its 'onair' information. Although this isn't published as an official interface, it looks pretty 'open' to me and has been stable for two or more years, by the look of it. I can't guarantee how long this will work for, but given the speed at which the BBC are chopping and changing things, this is likely to be as stable as anything. As I've needed to touch a few files in the plugin, I'm posting a patch file (only applies to the BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3 plugin). The .patch file is for command line on linux or cygwin. Copy the file to the BBCiPlayer plugin directory, cd to that directory and type: Code: patch -p1 BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3-Onair-v0.1.patch After restarting LMS check the settings - there is an extra one called 'Show OnAir Text' which needs checking, and the 'Show Live Text' needs un-checking. 'Show Slide Show' will still work for displaying different artwork (on those channels that already had RadioVis). PS. I've also amended the menu.opml, adding a couple of missing stations and including some icon links for those that didn't have one. PPS. patch -bp1 BBCiPlayer-v1.3.1alpha3-Onair-v0.1.patch will also create a backup of the changed files. If you want to go back though, it's probably easiest just to un-install and reinstall the plugin. Edit: I've also added a zip of just the files that have changed, if the patch file is problematic for your system. Extract over the top of the existing BBCiPlayer plugin directory, replacing existing files. Make sure this includes the basic.html file which is buried in a deep path. Edit2: I've updated the .patch and .zip file to fix a bug for display on older players with VFD displays, and also adjusted the description of how to apply the .patch file, to make it clearer that this update does not just apply to linux - it will work on all platforms including windows and mac. I need to say that as I've now modified Triode's original code (which is allowable as it is GPLv2), he's in no way responsible for any problems I may have now introduced... Hi utgg Thank you so much for providing the On Air text .zip file. The disappearance of Live Text from the streams however many years ago was a real disappointment. A number of emails to BBC tech types got no where. Again, thank you so much for reinstating it. Well, iTunes does similar things. My problem usually is when the information in these databases is bad, first, I want an App that shows me the different alternatives found BEFORE I apply the tags and let's me select one (iTunes lists the, but only a summary line). Does abcde do that? And the I want to be able to easily apply bulk editing, like setting a CD number, an album artist and the like. iTunes generally does that but sometimes uses their own library defaults in what they show which lures one into thinking the tags would be correct when they are really not. flimflam wrote: OK, thanks Joerg, I think I got it now: Logitech Web UI uses CLI queries, but iPeng uses some other query system in order to show duration, file type etc in the track list? No. More or less the other way around :) Technically, both use the CLI over JSON. But the Web UI and the Logitech App don't query the library using the documented CLI but instead they query a menu that gets prepared on the server side, including the full text being displayed. iPeng queries a list of tracks with information about the tracks, one of these information types is the trackartist. That's what iPeng displays unless there is no trackartist being returned, in which case iPeng displays the default artist (another field iPeng queries) instead. I don't know what the server uses to display the artist in this menu, it's undocumented in the sense that there is only a way to get a menu, you have no control over or information about _what_ is in that menu. It could be track or a list of configuration settings or metainformation, it's not typed. That's why it's not really useful for iPeng. I have just now tested LMS 7.7.2 I had left on my PC, and the iPeng result is the same as back in 2013. LMS 7.9 on OSX adds those additional problems (b) and (c), so these may well be a regression. Problems b) and c) probably happen on tracks where there is no track artist at all. I suspect the issue here is that there are too many possible configurations and not all of them might be well-tested because it takes so long to switch between them and do a rescan in the process. I, for example, use two separate lists for artists and albumartists in LMS 7.9 and I don't see your issues, I have all tracks in compilations listed with the track artist. And I unfortunately right now don't have the three hours to spare that re-configuring, scanning, testing and reversing the configuration would cost me (a scan of my library takes well above 1 hour over the network from my LMS 7.9 Mac). Especially since there wouldn't be anything I can do short of confirming or not confirming your observation. You are using a recent LMS 7.9 build, right? I guess I should ask Michael about this? as you can tell I can offer no technical assistance other than user testing I'm afraid. Yes, definitely. I am using the latest nightly 7.9 build on OS X , downloaded today, and test methodically with a test album/folder as the library. The issue is the same with your server configuration use two separate lists for artists and album artists. Are you sure you don't see the issue for FLAC compilation albums with the tag Compilation set to value 1? This is specifically where the problem arises. If there is no Compilation tag, or the value is set to 0, then the track artist is displayed correctly. Yes, iPeng just shows what the server sends. And iPeng requests artists, not composers (you can't even specifically request composers from the server). The how does one handle artist roles correctly discussion has been a perpetual one (see the tagging sub forum and the LMS beta forum for details), LMS 7.9 gives you more control by allowing a separate organization by album artist. --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=51929 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Cheers URL if you're interested: https://stream13.mixcloud.com/c/m4a/64/3/c/0/4/de74-8d66-4c8d-a210-492a366fbfca.m4a It may not play with stamdard LMS on a Classic. The stream has a mime type of audio/mp4 but the LMS convert.conf file does not have support for internet streams for mp4 - the conf file has support defined for files. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103485 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer rebuffering
bpa wrote: I find it strange that you get rebuffering with both BBC iPlayer and Extras since the iPlayer plugin will be using HLS and the Extras will be using RTMP - quite different protocols and I would have thought behave differently (i.e. RTMP should not be affected by the HLS DNS issue) unless the issue related to common processing such as AAC transcoding. Are you sure rebuffering happens with both Plugins ? Bpa, yes, rebuffering does happen with both plugins. I'm not sure what to check for an issue with AAC transcoding, as you suggest. What settings should I look for? whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103481 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Does it happen with both Live streams and Listen Again on BBCiPlayer ? Have you applied any patches to the 1.3.1alpha3 plugin ? Since it is transcoding OK - the issue could be some sort of system overload - first check CPU and network perf stats to make sure it is not a system issue. bpa's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=1806 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103481 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] App to play audio from URL (.mp3)
Yes, sure, just enter the URL under Radios-tune in URL... for the server. For MySB you might have to create a favorite through the web interface first, unless you are using iPeng which has a tune in URL entry field also for MySB --- learn more about iPeng, the iPhone and iPad remote for the Squeezebox and Logitech UE Smart Radio as well as iPeng Party, the free Party-App, at penguinlovesmusic.com *New: iPeng 8, the Universal App for iOS 7 and iOS 8* pippin's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=13777 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103485 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBC iPlayer rebuffering
I rarely use Live streams, so I'm talking here almost exclusively about Listen Again streams. I haven't applied patches to the 1.3.1alpha3 plugin. I'm not sure how to check CPU and network perf stats. whitman's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=9053 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=103481 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] BBCiPlayer Plugins - an alternative quick fix guide
I'm now running the new faad.exe on my Windows Home Server v1 box. My only player is a Duet Receiver so faad.exe is used to play all iPlayer stuff, live or listen again. I'm running the official LMS 7.8.0 release: Logitech Media Server Version: 7.8.0 - 1395409907 @ Thu Mar 27 20:19:17 CUT 2014 Hostname: ripnas Server IP Address: 172.27.151.104 Server HTTP Port Number: 9000 Operating system: Windows Home Server - EN - cp1252 Platform Architecture: 586 Perl Version: 5.14.1 - MSWin32-x86-multi-thread Database Version: DBD::SQLite 1.34_01 (sqlite 3.7.7.1) Total Players Recognized: 2 The second player recognised is SqueezePlay which I run on my laptop to control the Receiver, but I almost never use SqueezePlay as an actual player. So far Radio 2 live is playing fine with the new faad.exe.
