You should probably ask around the max2play community, too. Are they

Thanks for the log. It's going to sound strange, but on every case it's
an error between LMS and the bridge, more precisely LMS disconnects with
an "unknown cause" before everything has been sent. The bridge signals
that and LMS moves to next track. What I don't know is how much was
really received and if more could have been played, but LMS' reaction to
such error is "move to next". Can you tell me the size of the file

> What am I doing wrong?

The correct format for a weather station identifier based on a US postal
zip code is 37830*:4:*US.

PS - Starting with SDT version 5.11.26 I added a little more logic to
attempt to correct so now entering only the US 5-digit zip code without
any suffix will also work. If you enter 37830 then leave the SDT
settings page, when you return you will see it has added the :4:US to
the end of the zip code. SDT will also add :1: + the 2-character
country code to an 8-character alphanumeric weather.codes station
identifier entered without the suffix. For example entering USTN0370
will be updated to USTN0370:1:US.

For future reference it is a good idea to check server logs if a plugin
does not work as expected. You might find clues about what went wrong.
If you check your log now you should see entries similar to these.

Code:

Spot on! It was the PowerSave plugin that was the issue, set to "always"
(default?) rather than "on stop" etc. I had installed it to try it out
int the last few weeks as it was discussed briefly here, and immediately
forgot I had done so, apologies for that.

Yes, am enjoying the multi-zone functionality, great job!

Hi Phillipe - thanks for your continued work on these plug-ins. I got
around to trying your new version of UPnP Bridge - version 2.0.7.3 on
LMS 8.3.0, on a Win 10 laptop with i7 processor. I thought you might
want another test result of the new plug-in, as i once again experienced
the track skipping/truncation problem we talked about a few months ago
with the old plug-in version. My settings for the new Bridge plug-in
were completely default, with binary set to "static". The log begins
with trying Radio Paradise then another internet radio station briefly
(no problems), then an MP3 album. First 2 tracks played fine, advanced
to 3rd track, 3rd track skipped to 4th track about 3/4 through, 4th
track played then skipped to 5th track about 3/4 through. 5th track
played through, and i stopped it after 6th track started.
I understand if it is too early to try to troubleshoot individual minor
issues like this - I can wait for future updates of the plug-in if you
think that will resolve things.

PS - as I am not a "github kinda guy", i had no idea how to try your new
plug-in until i saw Paul Webster's post in another thread recently about
there being an "other repository" field for pasting your link at the
bottom of the plug-ins list in LMS. I learned something new!

I think it's the terminology that is mixed up.

It should be Linear (live Broadcast) and Non-linear (streaming)

The changes were announced back in May of this year.

Live Broadcast is to stop and content made avaialble via streaming.

What format the Streaming takes will have to be heard when it happens, I
can't find any information that is current.

According to this

https://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/speeches/2022/digital-first-bbc-director-general-tim-davie

there is a three year waiting time

You will just have to wait.

As the station is already on BBC Sounds, perhaps it will just be left as
is; save as a favourite and add to a Preset via the Presets Editor
(which surely you have done already?).

That's good news.

However, obviously that wasn't a good user experience for you. I don't
think the plugin is behaving exactly right in terms of the interaction
with BBC sign-on process. I'll take another look at the code and try
and work out what is going on there.

There is a small interface bug… When selecting the version in the drop

click in that box and click again on the drop down for the URL to be

Yeah, I basically like to put all available players in a sync group
permanently, allowing me to hear whatever I happen to be listening to on
one or more them at any given moment...I think that I read somewhere in
the LMS docs that precise synching was a challenge on android (or maybe
arm hardware?)...nothing to do with SB Player, if I'm not mistaken. Not
a huge deal for me either.

I think Wayne (Angry Goat) has said that synchronization is a
hit-or-miss proposition, depending mainly on the phone. I've had it work
satisfactorily with various Pixel phones. But as Jim said, the subject
is probably best pursued in the SB Player thread.

1) maybe because I really don't queue things up, use playlists, etc. I
either choose a station, or an album and. When I want to do these
things, I just do what it takes without thinking much about it. So I
might hit "play" only a few times a day.

2) Not sure where you got that take from, my comment was really only an
observation after following almost 10k posts on this thread (didn't read
them all :)), and also spending a good deal of time in product
development myself. I think I was trying to compliment Craig for
handling it all, maintaining a balance, that's all.

3) Sync with other players? I wasn't aware. I use SB Player for ear bud
listening exclusively. Maybe post on the SB Player site? Wayne is pretty
good about responding.

I don't think I've said anything to suggest otherwise, in case that

Yeah, I purchased SB Player around the same time as Squeeze Ctrl,
thanks. I also use Squeeze Player, which seems to do pretty much the

I think that's because many (including myself), did not notice the
difference between desktop and mobile, until you pointed it out :). I
guess I just handle the two tap without even thinking about it.

I think that Craig does a good job of balancing the needs/desires of the
user community, while avoiding the mish mash of "everything for every
one". As we all know, our actions have unintended consequences, and what
may seem a benign change for some, trips someone up further down the
road. Then there is the factor of Craig's time. Now that Material is
this mature (and excellent), I think it's a good position to scrutinize
changes, no matter how small (seemingly).

I also use squeeze cntrl as well as material. I like them both for
different reasons. Glad you found what you were looking for! If you have
not used SB Player (also from Angry Goat) and want to have your android
device act like a player, the two integrate well.

Hi...yeah...well actually it's precisely because Material already
handles swipe gestures that I thought my suggestion might be achievable
without too much extra coding and that I also mentioned having to
include a setting to enable/disable the new feature.

Anyway, thanks for answering that particular message...I feel a little
less ignored now. ;) It would seem that I'm the only one who finds the
direct play button useful, and if I'm honest that's puzzling...but as I
mentioned, never mind...particularly since I've now remembered that
Squeeze Ctrl, which I had switched away from for Material Apk, does what
I want (and more) so I'm back on that!and all's well that ends well.

Use an IP address not hostname for the link to LMS ... however, the
player should autodiscover LMS and the field is not needed.
If you have a complicated LAN set-up then that discovery might not work
... in which case you need it ... but to a fixed IP address not a
hostname.

On the settings->advanced->logging page, in the list of logging options,
there is a "plugins.bbcsounds" option. Set that to debug and save.
Select a menu in bbc sounds. If you get the error message send me the
log. Then set the logging back to warn.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] piCorePlayer spams with DNS requests

2022-12-05 Thread DYmR*

Thanks for your answers and please excuse my unclear question.

Actually I wanted to attach a picture -which unfortunately did not work-
then it would have become clear which DNS queries it is about.

It concerns requests to my LogitechMediaServer(LMS)...

here is an example how my squeezelite instances are started

Code:

squeezelite -n "DiningRoom" -o card1_stereofront -a 80:::0: -m
ab:ef:cd:34:12:55 -C 1 -z -s logitechmediaserver

"logitechmediaserver" is the hostname of my LMS

Per second pCB sends about 8 requests to my pihole to retrieve the IP
from "logitechmediaserver".

I hope my problem is now more understandable, if there are still open
questions... please ask

You're using a SB Radio with a buggy firmware not recognizing this
version of Logitech Media Server.
Please consider patching it. Until then we'll try to play nice and
return a fake version number...

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce : BBC Sounds Plugin

2022-12-05 Thread agbagb

Is anyone clearer than me what the import of the upcoming "Schedule and
Format Changes" to BBC R4 Extra? The Beeb are saying that this week it
will become Non-Broadcast and Non-Linear, but will still be accessible
via BBS Sounds. I'm wondering is "Non-Linear" means that it won't
simply stream all day, but that listeners will have to pick an indivdual
program to stream. If so, I'm wondering how I can allocate a preset to
the "Station", rather than just to one of its offerings?
