[SlimDevices: Plugins] DSTM not working on 1 of 6 Squeezeboxen
Thanks, Michael, for the great Don't Stop the Music plugin, which I usually have set to use Spotify recommendations to add to the playlist. The weird thing is that it doesn't add tracks to the playlist for one -- and only one -- of my six SBs. I've rechecked the DSTM settings, tried turning DSTM off and back on again on that player, but no luck. The player in question is an SB2, while it works fine on a mix of other players (SB2, SB3, SB Receiver, SB Radio and Squeezelite-X app on my Win10 machine). Fwiw, the server is running LMS 8.1.1 via piCore on a Raspberry Pi 3B+. Any ideas on what's going on, and better yet, a fix? Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Where can one download third party plugins?
You don't download via the forum, you do it straight from LMS. It's easiest if you activate the Extension Downloader plugin that comes with LMS. Then within the LMS web interface you go to the Plugins tab under Settings. You will probably want to activate the Show all 3rd party plugins tick box near the bottom of that page. Depending on which plugins you want you may also need to specify the relevant repositories in the boxes immediately below. If you don't see what you need after activating Show all 3rd party plugins, check with the specific plugin developer about whether you need to give the repository address, and find out what it is. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=101209 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Plugin to power off VFDs?
There is a plugin that works with all the SBs with VFDs, not only the Transporter. I think it's called AutoDim. If so, it's possible that it no longer works with current server software (see http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?47857-Auto-Dim-not-working-w-7-01/). Alternatively you could use Server Power Control to put your devices-with-VFDs in off/standby, and set the VFDs to zero brightness when off/standby. But in either case it is probably as triode says, that is, it most likely sets the brightness to zero, rather than actually cutting power to the VFD. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100908 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

On dBpoweramp it is in the Batch Converter module, but when set up correctly it doesn't really convert anything, it only adds the RG tags. dBpoweramp isn't free, but there is a 30-day free trial, and it is worth its modest price as a great ripping tool. If the OP already has perl installed (eg, working on a *nix box) then Robin Bowes has a nice script called apply_replaygain.pl that will go through your library recursively and add track_gain and album_gain tags. You can probably find it on robinbowes.com. As for the question of -Which is best: to lift the lower gain FLACs up to the highest level, lower the higher gain FLACs down to the lowest level or to normalise to a certain level?-, all of this software sets the tags to a certain reference level. Doing it relative to the highest or lowest level in your library would be kind of bonkers, because (a) it would have to analyze your entire library to find the highest/lowest before writing the first tag, and (b) you'd potentially have to do it all over again every time you added a track to your library. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=100813 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Have you tried using the conventional method, via the Plugins tab on the LMS web ui? Be sure you have the Extensions Downloader enabled first. If you have already tried that and not succeeded, then the normal plugin location is indicated on the Information tab under Settings on the LMS web ui. I don't know about Synology locations, but on a standard Debian install the 3rd party plugins go in /var/lib/squeezeboxserver/cache/InstalledPlugins/Plugins. Of course, Pandora will play on a lot of non-Logitech hardware. But not when you're making that hardware emulate Squeezebox hardware via player software like squeezelite. There aren't any 3rd party plugins that will get around that, but aren't Pandora subscriptions something like $36/year (10 cents/day)? If that's what your wife really likes it seems like a good bargain to me. If you want zero cost, I think Slacker has some themed stations that play certain genres/sub-genres/similar artists. I'll keep that Squeezebox Classic search going on eBay, I guess! :-) I may be wrong, but I don't think there's anything SliMP3-specific about squeezeslave. It's just a headless player, so it likely doesn't have any code for display. I'm not clear why the behavior of Other Players sending commands to the server is a problem, because that's exactly how the SB3 works as well. When a fully-functioning SB3 receives an IR command it sends it to the server, which then sends back a command that the SB3 can understand. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=96975 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Guide to get good MusicIP mixes working
Welcome to the forums, and glad to hear that you have MusicIP working for you (well, more or less). I don't have a definitive answer for you, but here are a couple things to try: 1) See what happens if you disable the Spicefly plugin. It's a fine plugin, and really helped me get MusicIP set up. But now I don't use it, and I don't have the mix problems you report. 2) Check your mix and variety settings, and how they compare to the same settings in the Windows GUI program. Note that there are settings that appear on the general MusicIP page (server_ip_address:10002 on the headless version) as well as settings for individual players under LMS's Settings Player MusicIP menu. I've never figured out how these settings interact or which takes precedence. But try setting both of them to the same settings you have in the Windows GUI and see if that helps. Good luck. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95936 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

[SlimDevices: Plugins] displaying bitrate, codec etc in iPeng and Squeezepad?
Sometimes when listening to tracks from music services like MOG or Rhapsody I like to take a look at the reported bitrate. In the LMS web interface this is shown in the right-side panel, but I can't figure out where -- or if -- that information is available on iPeng or Squeezepad. Any pointers? And if that info is currently not available on one or both of those great apps, please consider this a feature request. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] displaying bitrate, codec etc in iPeng and Squeezepad?
Thanks guys. All looks well on Rhapsody in both apps, including bitrate and encoding info. But on MOG the results are a lot more mixed. On one MOG album I was trying the long press on the Now Playing cover image doesn't provide any context menu info in either app. It would seem that on this one that MOG isn't sending info for this album. In Squeezepad the context menu shows only track title. In iPeng it shows various Lookup... , Search For Album, Search For Song Title, etc options, but none of the album or track info. BUT, for that same album (The Tel Aviv Session) if I go to the track listing (not the Now Playing cover image) in either app I get the usual info on the context menu (genre, duration, artist, On Amazon, etc), although not bitrate or codec. On a different MOG album, long pressing the NP cover image in either iPeng and Squeezepad shows a context menu with most of the normal info most normal context info, though no bitrate or encoding type on either. On the LMS web ui it is showing 320k CBR MP3 for both this album and the previous example with no metadata, but I wonder if that is just a blanket (and potentially misleading) placeholder in LMS. aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95599 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins
Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] displaying bitrate, codec etc in iPeng and Squeezepad?
I thought that some MOG was 320 and some was less, but I could be getting that confused with Spotify. Maybe MOG doesn't send the bitrate, although as garym says, where does the LMS web ui get it then. But aside from the bitrate/codec question, I am puzzled why the apps show the other metadata in a context menu from the track listing, but not from the NP cover image's context menu. In other words, MOG is delivering the other metadata, and whether the apps display it depends on which context menu is called. Is that clearer? aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95599 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Dynamic Playlist Using File Folders
You don't like Elvis with Wagner? The shows they did together at The Apollo were the stuff of legends Here is one thing you could try that wouldn't require much effort. Forget about trying to restrict Dynamic Playlists to certain folders, and stick with inclusion/exclusion by genre, which DP is set up to do perfectly. You don't need to fix up all your classical tags, just the genre, and you can even do that quick and dirty. Open the classical folders in a good tag editor like mp3tag, which should be easy if your folders are well-organized as you say they are. Then either (a) delete the current random contents on the genre tags, or (b) fill the genre with something simple that will not collide with your pop/rock. For example, you could tag them all as Classical or even Not for Dynamic Playlist. Then set Dynamic Playlist to exclude that genre. As always when doing mass tagging: 1) be sure you have a current backup 2) test operations on a small subset first to make sure it does what you want 3) be sure you have a current backup aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=95581 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

Hmm, for a variety of reasons I have not been using SvrPowerControl lately, but in the long time I was using SPC I never experienced the SB sending a WOL packet when it was searching for a server. The SB's screen would turn on and say it was looking for a server, but it wasn't sending WOL packets at all, unless I pressed the power on button on the SB or its remote. Maybe I could make the number of extra options in the My Music menu configurable... have to think about that. Thanks for the suggestion anyway. What I was thinking of was leaving Just Covers as a single item on the My Music menu, as it is presently, and adding an option on the JC plugin settings page that allowed the user to specify whether they wanted Just Covers to do Genres Albums (current behavior) or simply go directly to Albums. Very nice plugin. I like the view of cover art without the text, as for me that's part of the whole point of doing cover art: you can recognize the album without any text. Any chance you could add an option to go straight to Albums view, without first passing through Genres? My genre tags are in decent shape, but often I want to look through albums to play without first deciding on genre. Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Announce: Just Covers plugin
It's Genre Album. The sort order appears to use the same setting (cookie?) that is already set for Albums browse (eg, Artist/Year/Album), and the plugin includes the same drop-down in the lower left corner for changing the sort order. If you change the sort order in Just Covers it gets changed to the same thing in regular Albums browse, too. I don't know about the choice of album art at the genre level, but it appears that a disproportionate number of them are taken from the last album listed when you drill down to albums. -- aubuti aubuti's Profile: http://forums.slimdevices.com/member.php?userid=2074 View this thread: http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=91030 ___ plugins mailing list plugins@lists.slimdevices.com http://lists.slimdevices.com/mailman/listinfo/plugins

I mean if that is the case then it could well be that if SvrPowerControl dectects that the SBs are idling a suspend is executed even I'm working at the PC. If you configure SPC to trigger the shutdown based solely on SB status, then it will do so even if you are working at the computer. That is why it may be useful to use a different shutdown criterion, such as idle disk IO threshold, idle network IO threshold, or CPU load threshold. If you use one of those, then SPC will not suspend the computer while you are working on it (assuming you are at least meeting one or more of those thresholds), even if the SBs are idle. Take a look at the SPC configuration options and you'll see there are various alternative thresholds that can be used for determining idle. One can be using idle SBs as the only criterion, but other options use network traffic, CPU usage and maybe hard disk activity. See which you have set in your configuration. Note that if you are running a really old version of SPC it only uses SB idleness to trigger a suspend/hibernate action.
