Yes, with that option specified I'm not seeing the issue. In fact, I'm
not seeing any issues with 2.1.12.1 on Windows 10, it's working well. (I
still experienced some skipping issues with "normal" specified.)

All my music has embedded artwork as well. I also do not ever see the

Thank you! I can now return to using Squeezelite-X. I respected your
earlier decision, but I avoid Windows Store apps whenever possible
(mainly because I cannot easily revert to an older app version when I
encounter a bug or problem with an update).

Michael,

While you're tweaking this plugin, I have found another area that needs
attention. In clicking on Album Information, then Credits, the results
now display only the first line rather than all the credits.

I'm liking having the review author available (though obviously in a

You're the best. Thanks!

(Yeah, the composer first in the default UI's Now Playing always
bothered me -- but I always had the queue in view, and could customize
things there. With Material, I tend to prefer the mobile layout even on
my desktop, so I don't see the queue unless I switch to it.)

ARRGH! With great respect to other folks with understandably different
preference, for my uses (non-classical music) I *really* prefer it the
other way around. I use Composer as "songwriter", and show Artist *
Composer -- which gets me close to how I have always customized the
default skin's queue entries.

I know you hate adding more and more options, but perhaps this could be
a choice in the plugin settings? Otherwise, I can stay with 2.2.1 until
something breaks or you add a feature I can't live without :)

Since I don't use Band or Conductor, I'm, not sure what the complete
order is now, but keeping it as an option along with the 2.2.2 change
would make me very happy.

I've been using an older development build of 2.2.0 (from 1/6). Since
you're close to release, I thought I'd test out some of the developments
since then.

I'm seeing an issue with the latest build, just downloaded from github:
I have chosen to display Composers in all genres; however, I no longer
see the Composer appearing in the Queue or Now Playing (they do still
show up when browsing genres, and even in the browser page title when
playing a song. If I revert to the earlier build, Composer info once
again appears in the Queue and Now Playing. So it appears that a change
happened somewhere between 1/6 and today.

Not to sidetrack the discussion of the development version, which is
working great for me (perceptually at least as fast, even with a list of
2800 albums -- running LMS 7.9.4 on Windows 10), but I have found a
small issue (in both the master and development versions) that has been
around a while, but I have neglected to mention:

I have Material set to sort by Artist, Year, Album in all relevant
views. However, when viewing My Music > Years > [any year], I get
sorting by Album. The Sort By option doesn't work there (I can pick one,
but it isn't applied; neither does it display my choice by filling in
the radio button).

I checked in the standard LMS skin -- there, the albums are correctly
sorted according to my choice.

It's not a view that I use often (and the list for any year is
relatively short), so it's not a big issue.

Yes. This is a feature that I used quite a lot back in the early days of
Squeezebox, before we had graphic controllers/apps. I would use the
remote to ID tracks of interest for various reasons, as you note. I
could then review it when I was back at my PC. I have not needed or
used it in many years, and had forgotten about it until it recently
popped up again in Material Skin.

I installed this plugin, as I would like to be able to play longer
podcasts via LMS. However, it isn't working for me. Whether I am
attempting to stream an internet radio station or a podcast episode, I
get no audio at all with the Reliable plugin 0.14 enabled. In default
LMS web interface, the time bar increments as if it is playing, but I
get no sound. In Material skin, the time bar remains at 0:00.

I am running LMS 8.0.0 - 1594009895 on Windows 10 Pro (build 2004) and
attempting to play on piCorePlayer 6.1.

In the server log, I see an entry like this each time when playback is
attempted:

[20-07-07 05:57:29.5267] Slim::Networking::IO::Select::__ANON__ (130)
Error: Select task failed calling
Slim::Networking::Async::HTTP::_http_read_body: Can't locate object

C:\ProgramData\Squeezebox\Cache\InstalledPlugins/Plugins/Reliable/ProtocolHandler.pm
line 29.
; fh=Slim::Networking::Async::Socket::HTTPS=GLOB(0x1145c824)

If I disable Reliable via its checkbox, playback is normal.

Hope this helps.

Just to satisfy my own curiosity, I looked at the commits from the past

The cause of what I am seeing seems to be a change made to
-MaterialSkin/HTML/material/html/js/toolbar.js- at line 653.

It now looks like:
return true || this.$store.state.updatesAvailable.size>0

In the previous build it was:
return this.$store.state.updatesAvailable.size>0

If I edit the file to revert this change, the latest build no longer
shows the green update icon when it shouldn't.

I really hate to disagree -- as obviously you know more about the code
than I do -- but this has just started on my system, and I have always
used the latest dev builds. I can reproduce for you if you'd like. Older
skin builds (I keep them around) show the 3-dot menu; the latest shows
the green icon. I suppose it is some interaction with other aspects of
our LMS setups that have given us different results (until now).

I only pointed it out because it had just started for me and I thought
you'd want to know. Certainly not worth worrying about.

Thanks again!

OK, got it. But, FWIW, with the same LMS version, earlier Material Skin
development builds didn't do this. Up through the 1.5.0 build that has a
change log ending with "20. Update web page's title to contain current
song.", the settings icon is shown as always (unless there is an actual
update). Builds after that one show the update icon.

It's just a cosmetic issue, and no problem.

Thanks for your continued refinement and support of this great skin.

I am still getting fullscreen from Kiwi on my Android 8.0 phone (both
for existing and new shortcuts). However, I do *not* have Chrome enabled
on this device. I assume that Kiwi (like most such apps) uses Chrome to
display web content if it is installed, and the Android System Webview
if not. So perhaps a recent Chrome update might be causing this? (If so,
the problem may hit my system when Google makes a similar update to the
webview.)

I just installed the latest github build. I love this:

* Show composer in queue and now playing for Classical and Jazz tracks.

However, I would absolutely love to have this for all genres. I use the
"composer" tag for songwriter information on my entire library, and use
it all the time (it is really the main reason I use the "more info"
function from the queue and now playing).

I know that most folks aren't as obsessive about tagging and may not
want to see this, so it could be a setting (though I know and fully
understand that you don't want proliferation there). It's really the one
thing on my wish list, but I never wanted to be so forward as to ask :)

No problem at all. I thought I had reported it back when you switched
from the manual cache management. I knew it would get addressed, and in
the interim, I could avoid the issue by reverting to 2.1.10 or running a
newer version in the background.

I have seen an issue on recent builds that remains in 2.2.4: the Tray
Menu page shows only my first 6 entries under Customize Tray Menu, even
though there is lots of blank vertical space below. I can reach the
remaining links using the down arrow to scroll the list, so it's really
only cosmetic.

I installed 0.5.4 from github, and have encountered a new issue. From
Now Playing, right-clicking on the artwork and choosing "Show track
information" is now producing the same result as clicking the (i)
button, rather than going directly to the "More" information as it had
in previous versions. I didn't see this in the change log, so I am
assuming it was inadvertent (hoping so -- in Mobile mode, the
right-click is the quickest means of accessing that More Info screen).

Thanks as usual for the continuing refinement of this skin.

I use Mobile layout on my Windows desktop (via Chrome browser or
Squeezelite-X). After the 0.5.3 update, the "show current track info"
button at the top has become overly sensitive -- more than half the time
I click it, it seems to register a second click -- pausing the track
along with showing the information screen (with the button changing to
the play symbol).

This is less than pleasant :)

Huh. I always thought that -R and -u were equivalent switches (i.e.,
either could be used interchangeably, not that both were required). I've
always used just -R E to upsample (handling a few odd radio stations).

Just installed 2.1.6. Close but no cigar. Now things are a bit strange.
When I start Squeezelite-X, I am seeing the two-panel desktop/automatic
display -- even though, if I look at the Material Skin settings, it
shows Mobile layout (as I desire, and had previously set). In other
words, I see this:

26970

Even though the Material mode setting is saved:

26971

I can get the desired mobile mode by changing the setting to desktiop,
then back to mobile. Unfortunately, if I close and restart
Squeezelite-X, I get the same issue (desktop/automatic view, even though
setting says mobile).

No, the skin indeed does not save that setting. I had noticed that
previously, as I would have to change it when I cleared the cache for
updates. For now, I'll just run Squeezelite-X in the background.

Well, I never discovered it :)

Going through (i) requires an extra step when all I want to do is
quickly scan track info (all my collection is tagged with
composer/songwriter info that I actually look at more than lyrics). On
the Android apps that I "retired" in favor of Material Skin, it was a
one-click (or one "hold") operation.

No biggie, of course.

Before you release 0.2.8, I believe I have found a bug in the git
version. In the Queue list, if I choose the "three dot" menu on a track,
selecting More doesn't work properly. In the Mobile layout, it takes me
back to the Browse screen instead of showing the "more" info. In he
Desktop layout, it doesn't appear to do anything at all (since Browse is
always visible anyway).

It would be nice to have, but not if it is a big effort. I can work
around it, and am using Material Skin more these days anyway.

One more small issue I have found using the stand-alone version: since
updating to 2.0.12.0, each time the application exits, it creates a log
file on my desktop (C:\Users\username\Desktop\SlxLog.txt). I can delete
it each time, but I don't imagine that this is by design (you probably
want to write it to the user AppData folder).

Thanks again for your work on this nice little app.

Hmmm...now that you mention it...I do have a few small programmable
buttons on my trackball. I just tried setting them for forward/back, and
they do work to accomplish this in Squeezelite-X.

Of course, I will now need to change years of "muscle memory" to train
myself to actually use them.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] [Announce] Squeezelite-X

2019-01-12 Thread bwaldron

I have a minor feature request. Would it be possible to have a "back"
function integrated into the app? There are a few places where I miss
this in the default interface. For instance, I choose Random Albums and
click on one of the albums to view its details. At that point, I have no
way to go back to the list of random albums -- I can only go Home. In a
browser, I can use Alt + Left to go back, but that doesn't work in
Squeezelite.

When I use the Material skin, this isn't an issue because of its
built-in "breadcrumb" navigation. Still, there are times I prefer the
standard LMS interface.

Thanks!

Yes. I also use the mobile layout on my desktop. I prefer to see large

This is really great work, many thanks.

One minor issue I am seeing: When I drill down into an album view, the
header shows the number of tracks in the album as well as what I presume
should be the total length: # Tracks (#:#). However, the length displays
that of track 1 in the album, rather than the total album length.

Funny thing, though, that's why I -don't- use it. There isn't any way

introduces bugs (or even undesirable new features). Not that this has

I just updated from 1.7.7 to 1.7.9 (legacy build, not Store version). I

blue when on.

With the new update, however, when I turn the player off I am getting
gray with the warning indicator. This seems wrong, or am I doing

Huh. I have used squeezelite on Windows 10 for quite some time without

In case it helps:

I was using the stand-alone installer and when I upgraded to 1.6.5 I got
the same error when using WDM-KS for my external DAC that had worked
with all previous versions. I assumed an issue with the updated
squeezelite build. However, when I switched to using 1.6.5 from the
Windows Store, it worked fine. The same pattern holds for all versions
since 1.6.5: WDM-KS works with Windows Store, doesn't work with
stand-alone installer (WASAPI works with both on my system).

I have been using the beta for a few days now, and it sure does seem to

Yeah, these types of things are a major PITA to diagnose. It's not a
lack or RAM in my case; I've got 16GB and my system commit never comes
near that. It is most likely something specific to a certain PC
configuration -- what other tasks are running in the background, etc. I
will play around and see if I can find something that leads to the
problem being reproducible.

Re: [SlimDevices: Plugins] Annouce: Squeeze Control is now available as a UWP app for Windows 10.

2016-10-22 Thread bwaldron

I'm liking the app, and using it more and more on my PC rather than the
web interface. One minor change I'd like to see is in the "info"
dropdown menu when in Now Playing mode. Is it possible for this to be
sized vertically depending upon the app window size? Currently it only
uses less than half of the vertical space available in the app window,
so I have to scroll to see information of interest. A minor annoyance,
but it would be nice if I could see more song info without scrolling.

I am probably misunderstanding -- if so, sorry -- but when browsing my
library with Squeeze Ctrl, a press/hold on the icon at the right of each
track shows basic track information tags (and full tags available via
the "more info" item in this list).

We have a winner! Thank you, Marc -- that was indeed the problem.

I should have thought of it -- way back when I first installed Windows
10, I recall having had to do this for the Edge browser to access a
local server app. Since I don't much use universal apps -- and the ones
I do don't connect to local servers -- I had forgotten all about that.
