My apologies - I wasn't clear about something. I'm /*not*/ using a
browser, but rather a dedicated DASH media player. No cache, no
incognito mode, no location active, no cybersec stuff. If you look
again at the two feeds I sent you, it looks to me as if the BBC's
provided feed ("llnw" in the URL) is being allowed through
NordVPN, while the ("ak" in the URL) feed is being selectively
blocked.

the BBC streaming itself, you might not be able to access it at this
time.
Regarding a specific type of media player, please try re-installing it
as that will force its cache to be cleared. See if that helps.

No core difference between 1.5.* anbd 1.6.*. BBC don't own or run the many servers which needed to stream the data - they subcontract them to two CDNs: Akamai and Limelight Networks. When starting to playing a Live or Listen Again the BBC top level URL returns a choice of two URLs - an Akamai service or a Limelight service. The same effect is apparent on BBC iPlayer Radio Live Streams when the time signal pips are heard about 35 - 40 seconds after the same on Live FM Radio. (Here in the UK). Just for the moment on the Sanity Check issue, yes, I am in Paris,
France.
On the other issues: that's my basic puzzle. Using the VPN I can usually
get 'net access to assorted BBC streams, even when region-restricted.
But I can't do so via LMS and its assorted apps. On verra ("We shall
see", as we say here in France...).

This is all LMS, on the same laptop from which I tried the net streams referred to in the previous post. I'm in Paris, and tired various options both with and without a VPN. A) First a regular R4FM stream, without any of the sports commentary regional restrictions - using NordVPN: works on the LMS BBC app and on iPlayer . - using NordVPN: Did not work on iPlayer : "Can't Find File". - without any VPN: works on the LMS BBC app, and on iPlayer - without any VPN: Did not work on iPlayer : "Can't Find File". So, that seems all as expected. B) Second, trying the region-restricted sports commentaries on R4LW - using NordVPN: LMS BBC App worked for R4LW - using NordVPN: iPlayer was either silent with a "File Not Found" message () or Rights Restriction Audio Message () - without any VPN: LMS BBC App had Rights Restriction Audio Message - without any VPN: iPlayer was either silent with a "File Not Found" message () or Rights Restriction Audio Message () So, only the LMS BBC App worked, and only using a VPN. To check whether problem is LMS or network. You can test BBC DASH stream using BBC Web pages as long as browser is setup NOT to use Flash - see http://www.bbc.co.uk/html5 . When BBC web pages are setup to use HTML5 they are using DASH for video and audio. I can get live access to most BBC region-restricted sites and streams via LMS (+ net access to the TV iPlayer). Currently I'm listening to R4 LW (TMS - a real thriller today!) via the Logitech internal BBC: http://open.live.bbc.co.uk/mediaselector/5/select/mediaset/http-icy-mp3-a/format/pls/proto/http/vpid/bbc_radio_fourlw.pls Try to go BBC iPlayer>Listen Live>BBC Radio 4 LW and I get nothing except this message on the Touch screen: "Problem: Can't Open File For: BBC R4 LW" Likewise for any other BBC live stream via the iPlayer. What else can I try? That version barely worked on Windows when it came out - I'm v. surprised you heard anything. If you only listen to Live streams - would the MP3 stream of the Logitech BBC App be adequate ? It may not be if you want to listen say country cricket. The googlecode URL has been out of date for abotu 2 years. 'Morning All, Haven't made any changes to my system for quite a while, but today I can't get the "Listen Live" on BBC iPlayer to stream any radio at all: the Touch screen gives me a "Problem: Can't Open File for Radio [Whatever]". Oddly, if I go into the "Listen Live (Non-UK)" option, I can get some radio, or at least the "Owing to Rights Issues." message. And, perhaps even odder, if I go to radio channels from the iPlayer that I've saved to my Favorites, they play fine. For assorted reasons I've never saved the various channels that carry Test Match Special, usually accessing them direct via the iPlayer: but, today, nothing I can get the TMS strean on my laptop via the R5 Sports webpage. Aha - I did install Inguz DRC and that did require me to make some sort of custom type file. Can't quite remember the details, and I have given up using Inguz now (sadly). I think I'll just leave it be with the Native AAC option disabled as this seems to work nicely. At some point I'll have to rebuild my PC and start afresh then. I have had the same problems for the last few days. The streams sometimes work - sometimes not. However if you take the url of the live stream (say Radio 4 FM http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listenlive/r4_aaclca.pls?livetxt=pubsub.livetext.radio4 ) put into the web address in a browser it will also work when the iPlayer works on Squeezeserver fail when the iPlayer does not work on the Squeezeserver. For some reason if I go Internet Radio-BBC iPlayer-Listen Live-Radio XX then it doesn't work for any station. No music ever starts, and it says under More info Bitrate 128000bbps CBR. All stations are the same. Surprisingly the Listen Again works fine. The URL is e.g. http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio/listen/live/r4_aaclca.pls?livetxt=pubsub.livetext.radio4;. Also I saved a few of the live BBC radio stations to my favourites some time ago. They still work absolutely fine. In both cases I am using AAC.
