Unfortunately it is a limitation in LMS. It has very few fields that it makes available for use by the players - and they are named (like artist, title, album, year). If I join the station name to another field then it would mean that players / controllers would have to unpack it to use them. Maybe I could hide it in a custom field that is accessible via "More" and then Material (or whatever) could go and fetch it from there. I'll have a think and maybe other developers here could come up with something. I did suggest to mherger a while back that having some of the players (esp Jivelite) using more fields would be good since it does have the screen space to show more. Hello Paul, do you think there would be a way between Material skin and your plugin to show more than 3 elements of information? I use playlists in which I store different FIP streams (FIP / Rock / Nouveautes etc) and when I want to skip a track that I dont like I actually switch to one of the other streams. Unfortunately if I want to display the name of the station I cannot display the album nor the year (and, importantly for me, I cant display the AllMusic review of the album). There is ample space on a PC to have all of it, how about adding a setting allowing to add a 4th line with the station name? (I guess it would require a change on Materal skin?) I found that some of the segments from RF (in particular for France Culture and France Info I think) were not in time sequence (despite them using an array for them). So I now sort the segments. I also made the number of days in the schedule a configurable element instead of being fixed at 8. My guess is that since this addition does not provide much for FIP listeners then the best way to get some feedback from real users is to make a real release so that people get an update without having to add an extra repo. Paul, not sure if you care about the icon Material uses but if you do... Material currently has a JSON file that maps from RadioFrance's PNG file to an SVG that ships with Material. As of Material 2.3.0 plugins can ship with these SVG icons, and Material will use that in prefence to its own. This allows you to use a better, or different icon. To know if a plugin's PNG icon has a matching SVG icon, Material looks at the filename. If this ends in _svg.png then Material expects there to be a matching .svg file. e.g. if you rename your icon to -radiofrance_svg.png- and copy https://raw.githubusercontent.com/CDrummond/lms-material/master/MaterialSkin/HTML/material/html/images/france.svg to -radiofrance.svg- (place this in the same folder as -radiofrance_svg.png-) then Material will use this - and I can remove my mapping. When loading SVG files, Material will replace any "#000" string with its desired icon colour. Make sense? Beta 3 now available. This introduces the ability to collapse programmes with multiple segments into a single top level menu item which then expands to the programme plus all segments at the next level down. See Settings field "Flatten the schedule". There are still some anomalies because of data differences in their different stations but it works quite well. I'll probably change the titles for the expanded items to not include the name of the programme so that there is more space to see the segment name. The 7 items that are listed after it are short segments from within the full programme. Playing one segment does not result in the next one being played at the end of it. Beta 0.3.1 now available The biggest change between this and 0.3.0 is that programme segments are now listed. This resolves the problem where almost nothing was shown for France Info but it makes the listings of some of the stations considerably longer. I am going to try to put the segments into a submenu so that you can choose to play a full programme or navigate down into the segments. One thing that this does show up is that there segments of programmes that are repeated during the day on some stations ... but the timestamp information gets confused. So you might see what looks like a time-ordered list with some of the items in the wrong place. I might change this (by sorting or faking some timestamps) but for now it is in the same order as provided by Radio France. The programme icons and descriptions that you see come from Radio France as part of their stream information as it plays. It looks good but is nothing to do with me being clever. Everything that I have seen so far is MP3 and it supports seeking - again this is nothing that I did, it is the nature of their on-demand content provision. I'll add a picture showing segments. Experimental feature added ... beta for now as I know there are still lots of things to do but has been usable by me for a few days now. YOU CAN NOW REPLAY VIA A LIST OF SCHEDULED PROGRAMMES. At the moment this lists shows only by calendar date and only for the last 8 days (although there is content available that is much older than that ... but I want to work out a way to display that without have a year long list of days). This might not be very interesting for FIP-only listeners as the only make "Club Jazzafip" (the early evening Jazz programme with 2 people introducing tracks usually around a theme) and the 2 specials per week (the live concert and "Certains l'aiment Fip" (the film soundtrack show). Programmes that I cannot find content for a not listed ... by default ... but you can change that via the settings so that you will be able see that a programme was found but it will be marked as "not available"/"indisponible". There are plenty of things that I want to change or add so please don't give me lots of related feature requests for now. Visible things that I will probably change: - more hiding of titles when title and subtitle are very similar (issues here because one station uses UPPERCASE a lot in subtitle and I have been trying to avoid changing the case of their stuff so that it remains like they intended) - access programmes by programme name as well as by schedule - currently no programmes are displayed for France Info (news channel) but there is On Demand content ... it needs more work on the underlying data to get to it and then work out how to present it - The PLAY link is only for the first found audio ... however, there are often 2 and up to 4 different ones available so I should try to find the "best" one or make it list them all - SB2/SB3/Slimp3 users do not see the Radio France plugin listed under Radio or My Apps ...I am researching this but it was also the case for prior version of the plugin an no-one complained. To try out this beta version and my repo at the end of the list of plugins in LMS http://www.dabdig.co.uk/slimserver-rep/repo-radiofrance.xml and then select the Radio France plugin with version 0.3.something To revert to the released code (0.2.4) ... remove the repo and uninstall the plugin ... then restart LMS and choose the Radio France plugin from the regular LMS list. There are some parts in the source data that imply that Radio France might modify things in the future - for example making some content not available outside France. Also I am relying on something from their web browser implementation for this to work ... and that could break at any time. Thanks to @expectingtofly for the code that was implemented in his Virgin Radio plugin because that helped me to get the menu system working. IIRC the HTTP metadata handler calls a "getmetadatafor" type routine which provides values for client and URL. For BBCiPlayer I found LMS calls the the getmetadafor routine everytime LMS needed metadata even for items in a playlist. I identified an item in a playing playlist (i.e. $client->isPlaying is true) by checking for the $song from the URL - if not defined it is not playing (i.e. not current) and in playlist for client. I've tried to play with "Select if you do not want the album name to appear" and "Select if you want to try to show icon for the show/programme rather than the station" but I never see the name of the station, neither in the list nor when displaying only what's currently playing. I realize it's the same for Radio Paradise. I'm using Squeezelite-X on Windows with the material skin. To build the playlist, I go to Radio / Radio France, then add the stations that I want to the playing queue, then I save the queue as a new playlist. There are 2 different issues: 1) the fact that the song info from the 1st FIP station is used for the subsequent ones in a list display 2) the fact that I would prefer that the name of the station be displayed when in a list As for 1), I'm doing it as I type: as I add the stations to the queue to later save as playlist, they all show different (correct) song information. Once the playlist is saved, when I play the playlist, all the FIP stations show the title of the first one. Interesting. As far as I know (not very far) the plugin is not called when the items are put into the playlist. It is called when LMS detects that the stream URL matches one that the plugin is looking for. Does the problem happen when the items are being added to the playlist or when one of the FIP stations (or one of the others handled by the plugin) start playing? How have you constructed the playlist? Hi Paul and the community, I hope you can help with my request, or potentially add a feature? :-) I like to create playlists with radio stations, that way when I launch the playlist it makes it easy to navigate from one to the other with skip / previous. For example one playlist is France Inter, France Info, FIP, FIP nouveautes, FIP jazz, FIP monde, FIP rock The problem that I am facing is that when the playlist is displayed as a list, the name of all the FIP stations is replaced with the name of the 1st song playing see 1st picture. In newer version HLS can support "inserts" - say for localised advertising in a national service. HLS has other adminstration advantages over plain http. The bitrate of a station as displayed by LMS can be unreliable. For "normal" http stream the bit rate can be declared in the http or icy header - this can be fiction and totally unrelated to the actual bitrate. For MP3 and AAC - the bitrate is also encoded in the framing - I can't remember which LMS uses to display - the declared bit rate or the encoded one. How PlayHLS determine the actual audio bitrate can vary according to the stream. IIRC plugin usually provides the bitrate as taken from the encoded bit rates. However some station will transmit two channels - a video and audio. I think FIP just uses HLS as another broadcast format. HLS was initially an Apple implementation of "chunked http", but now an RFC and with multiple versions of varying complexity. AFAICT A lot of stations implement HLS to get better compliance with Apple devices. HLS is a transport protocol - it is not concerned with codecs. Often station use the *exact* same audio stream in the normal http and HLS streams. Technically, the main benefit of DASH/HLS (i.e. chunked http) is that the broadcaster can vary the bitrate of the stream according to feedback from the player regarding the available bandwidth. This has been used by video streaming (e.g. Netflix - quality varies according to available bandwidth rather than stop & rebuffer) but I haven't come across many broadcaster who implement it for audio. PlayHLS does not support varying the bitrate dynamically. HLS also has defined more standardised & flexible methods for metadata (e.g. ID3, fragmented MPEG4) rather than icy which is limited. If you install the "RadioNet" plugin (like PlayHLS also from bpa) you will get access to around 30k stations from around the world. At the moment the Radio "Search" function in LMS goes to TuneIn in the background - so to search the radio.net database you have to start your search from within that plugin. Hi Paul - I mentioned I had lost FIP/France Music last night - it seems I was using TuneIn streams, rather than yours so that's why. I've switched over to the streams from your plugin now. The mp3 and aac are fine, but HLS throws up an 'unable to play file type' error. I have Play HLS installed from a while back, and BBC m3u8 streams from the iPlayer plugin play OK. Any thoughts? So do not be surprised to find the same thing playing if you sample a few. These are regional stations and have local content when not simulcasting. The music information is often not provided and sometimes incorrect (for example when there is live music added to the schedule but the broadcast information has been left untouched). Note - you will need PlayHLS (at least version 2.7) to play the France Bleu HLS streams. PlayHLS V2.7 now support HLS MPEG2-ts MP3 format. This means the regional FIP station should now work. The midfi stream are MP3 140kbps. The lofi streams are 32kbps MP3 mono. Very close now. They are MPEG2-TS MP3 stream which I knew could exist but never seen before and so never tested. The Bordeaux m3u8 (other FIP have 3) had two URL for midifi and lofi both MP3. Other FIP often have 3 (hifi, midfi & lofi) all AAC. The Bordeaux lofi is a MP3 mono which AFAICT doesn't play on SB player and squeezelite. I need to do some more checking but if the problem is in the squeezelite decoder - then I'll disable the format in PlayHLS and make log entries that the format is unsupported - rather than have users chase "silence" issues. You would have to uninstall and reinstall if you already have 0.1.33 This adds France Blue ... but they have the same hls problem that bpa is already looking at. So I won't make a new official release until PlayHLS update is out otherwise I'll probably get people moaning. There are a few logos that do not work for France Bleu because they have not followed their own naming conventions. I'll try to find them on their site over the next day or so. I let it run for a few minutes this morning and it picked up the details of 4 out of 5 tracks. The one that it missed (in my test) was because they had provided a title but no artist so it was presented as a programme not a song. You could try those again just to confirm. Meanwhile I have made a new version of 0.1.33 in the test repo. LMS will not offer it to you because I have not changed the version number ... so simply uninstall the plugin and reinstall to get it. I plan to add France Blue stations into the menu (but not into the meta data provider) later today - and then I'll make an official 0.1.34 (I'll skip official release of 0.1.33). Historically, i have not processed meta data for the Blue channels because they did not provide song info and the programme name is available via TuneIn. There is an issue with HLS versions of the regional FIP stations - so I have taken them out. I'll post over in the PlayHLS thread about it. I have left it (FIP Pop) running for quite a long time and it seems to work quite well. One issue compared to regular FIP stations is that it is using the GraphQL API that is used by some of the Mouv' stations and not the "regular" meta data one. An issue with this is that it only lists the currently playing song rather than a short list of previously/now/next playing. In theory that should be fine but if their API does not update quickly or my fetch for new data comes a bit late then it can lead to the station logo appearing (I fall back to that around 20 seconds after the scheduled end of the song). With the other API I can skip through the list of upcoming songs to find which one is in the time range which means a more seamless switch between tracks. Perhaps they are preparing to switch off the "regular" feed over the coming months (or even weeks) and switching all to the new one, in which case this behaviour will become the norm so I am taking a look to see if I can improve things. I'll have a better idea when they release the next version of the mobile app with FIP Pop available.
