smplayer is just a gui for mplayer, smtube just looking for mplayer, vlc or smplayer, I think with mplayer as dep is just fine. By default SMTube uses smplayer if you double-click on a video but the RUN_DEPENDS is on mplayer, and it doesn't fallback to a working player, can you change it one way or the other so it works out of the box please? (either change RUN_DEPENDS, change the default in the code, or patch to make it fallback; they already have code to find a working player as they use it in the settings window). I think pretty good/fast is the same people who develop smplayer and upstream response really fast any feedback. If it is really able to play and search youtube videos in an easy way, I would be happy to see it included. Minitube was my favorite tool for youtube, but now, even with dual-core it is unusable. It feels ridiculous when people with worse computers are able to watch movies, but not me with OpenBSD. Minitube had good performance earlier, I could watch youtube videos even on a Pentium4.
