Scan both sides of the unpopulated pcb and save them as a bit maps.

Then use a bitmap import tool (e.g.
 http://groups.yahoo.com/group/protel-users/files/BMPtoPCB.zip , you may
have
to join this group to get access to this file) to import the bitmaps to
 *MECHANICAL LAYERS*.

Then simply trace over the mechanical layers with signal traces.

Might just be a default security setting, since the numbers of services and
related functionality that have become diabled by default have dramatically
risen over the last few version upgrades (w9x-NT-2k-XP). Check
Microsoft's KB or DejaNews (now Google) for command prompt in WinXP or
similar search phrases.

Re: [PEDA] PEDA[OT] - PCB Duplication Methods

2003-06-24 Thread Bagotronix Tech Support
Maybe you don't have Administrator priveledges? Your box might be set up to
require Administrator priviledge to run cmd.exe, and you might not be
running at that level by default.

BTW, if you ever intend to use Linux, you need to get used to the idea of
different priviledges. Just to install or remove a piece of software on
Linux, you usually need to be the superuser (a.k.a. root user). It's
annoying until you get used to it. But it sure does prevent settings from
getting screwed up by programs. None of this user program edits registry
and crashes before completing the edit, screwing up the registry nonsense,
like on Windows.

[PEDA] PEDA[OT] - PCB Duplication Methods

2003-06-19 Thread palaniraja

Hello all,

 I am interested to knowthe
methods available to
duplicate single side and double side loaded/bare
PCB boards.

At present, I am doing it by
manually measuring the
component coordinates and placing them in the worksheet.

 Is there any
scanning/semiautomatic/any other shortcut
methods available for board duplication.

 Thanks in advance for your
information.

I am not sure what you mean by duplication.

Do you mean panelising a PCB so there are multiple copies on one larger PCB
panel.

You mention measuring the component coordinates and placing them in the
worksheet - are you trying to get the pick and place coordinates for
automatically stuffing the components onto the PCB?

I think I may not understand the question. Can you explain what you need
in more detail.

Ian

Re: [PEDA] PEDA[OT] - PCB Duplication Methods

2003-06-19 Thread Thomas
Scan both sides of the unpopulated pcb and save them as a bit maps.

Then use a bitmap import tool (e.g.
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/protel-users/files/BMPtoPCB.zip , you may have
to join this group to get access to this file) to import the bitmaps to
*MECHANICAL LAYERS*.

Then simply trace over the mechanical layers with signal traces.

 Hi Palaniraja

Artnet Pro Inc in San Jose, California can produce gerber
 files from a
photoscan of a (two-sided) board. So far I have only looked at the
gerbers successfully in Camtastic, and did not find a way to import
these into P99SE. But I am sure the import will not be
 difficult when I
 get to the project.
They can be reached by phone at 408 954 8383 or by fax at 408 954 8380

  Hello all,

I am interested to know the methods available to
duplicate single side and double side loaded/bare PCB boards.

At present, I am doing it by manually measuring the
component coordinates and placing them in the worksheet.

Is there any scanning/semiautomatic/any other shortcut
  methods available for board duplication.

Thanks in advance for your information.

Two more things:

1) don't forget to flip the bottom side scan
2) The BMPtoPCB utility only uses black and white bitmaps so you may have to
mess around using something like Photoshop to get the required contrast
between tracks and the substrate before converting to black and white.
