[Ql-Users] Launchpad 2.14 update

2024-03-21 Thread Dilwyn Jones via Ql-Users
A minor update to my Launchpad 2 program launcher software has been
issued to fix a problem with the Jobs menu when run on QDOS with
pointer environment. The v2.14 update (just 3 files to replace for
existing users) is available to download from
https://dilwyn.qlforum.co.uk/gen/launchpad/demo/demo.html

The full Launchpad software is available to download free from
https://dilwyn.qlforum.co.uk/gen/launchpad/launchpad.html where you
can see the system requirements for the software. There are two
versions - v0.96 runs on QDOS systems with pointer environment, while
version 2 demands a system with Window Manager 2.

1. Go to http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/gen/launchpad/demo/demo.html

2. Scroll down the page until you find the "Launchpad 2.12 Update"
section. Short instructions there, basically this:

3. Download the file labelled launchpad212updt.zip and unzip those files.

4. This contains three files - LAUNCHPAD_OBJ, HISTORY_TXT and
HISTORY_DOC. You can either overwrite the old files with those names,
or rename them temporarily until you know that this version works on
your system (if you rename them, and it doesn't work, you can just
delete the 3 new files and rename the old ones back to revert to the
old version).

5. Doing an update in this way means that (if done properly) all the
old settings, icons etc will all be kept.

That's awesome, Dilwyn!

I will definitely give it a try this QL season (Oct-Mar) when weather is
right (cold, wet), life allows and my mood is for QL exploration.

Chances are there that Launchpad makes in into the next release of QL/E.
Fingers crossed.

That shows the most recent version of Launchpad, running in high colour

ALL programs use that font by default, including Launchpad), and some GD2
sprites presumably defined by the blog author for his/her own use (wonder if
the blog author could be persuaded to share some of those nice sprites?).

There are only two "current" versions of Launchpad:

1. v0.96, the older version for systems without Window Manager 2

2. v2.10, the recommended version if your system supports WIndow Manager 2.

Both can be downloaded free of charge (password protection was removed back
in 2017) from http://www.dilwyn.me.uk/gen/launchpad/demo/demo.html . I
appreciate that the URL of the download page implies it's a demo, but
nowadays the download is actually the full version.

Hope that helps,

With software, it doesn't even have to be registered. Prior use is
all that is required.

Think back to the Firebird Database versus Mozilla Firebird

[Ql-Users] Launchpad

2007-10-05 Thread Matrassyl
Hi

Does anyone know of a simple way of getting Launchpad to open at a specified
location on the screen.
My problem is that Launchpad 2.09 insists on opening its window at x=0 y=0
on the display no matter how it is EXed. There seems to be no way to configure
launchpad to open its windows at an exact location.
Launchpad 2.06 can be made to open its windows at exact pixel co-ordinates.

[Ql-Users] Launchpad and Q-Trans Updates

2007-09-28 Thread Dilwyn Jones
I've put updated versions of Launchpad and Q-Trans on my website.

Launchpad 2.09 includes a change suggested by Fabrizio Diversi, to
allow faster entry of user name and password where more than one user
has been set up in Launchpad.

Q-Trans v2.08 corrects a bug in the RENAME command in Q-Trans when
used on QDOS systems, which caused an object type error when the new
filename was entered.

The Launchpad demo version and full Q-Trans package are available to
download from:
www.dilwyn.uk6.net/gen/launchpad/launchpad.html - just follow links to
the downloads page. Registered users of Launchpad can also download
the full version of the package, use the previously notified password
after downloading.

[ql-users] Launchpad 2.06 and SCP2

2005-12-18 Thread Dilwyn Jones
Launchpad version 2.06 is now available for download from my website.
Registered users can download the full version using the password
already supplied to you.

I've now added the zipped accessory programs for version 2 as well.
Anyone can download these, they are not password protected.

Also added to the site is the new version of my Sort & Column Print
utility which lets you arrange plain text into columns for printing.
This latest version uses system palette if available.

Re: [ql-users] Launchpad bug

2005-12-15 Thread Dilwyn Jones
Hi John,

Yes, you are right about the problem with the file selection menu.

I've now received a new set of Easyptr extensions from Marcel Kilgus
to deal with the single filename case - it seems that in current
Easyptr extensions, MAWDRAW does not correctly display a single item
array slice unless the array is DIMensioned 'wider' than the text it
contains. As you said, the last two characters in the single filename
menu were being corrupted in the displayed menu but the correct
filename was returned.

The issue of sorting two filename lists turns out to be a bug in the
sorting routine which is caused by the shell sort routine used being
designed for arrays with subscripts starting at 1. In QL BASIC, the
array subscripts for a two filename list are 0 and 1. The Shell Sort
routine divides the array into smaller clusters for sorting by
dividing the highest subscript by two, unfortunately 1 DIV 2 is 0, so
the program never manages to escape from the sorting loop, hence the
lockup you described if the two filenames are not already sorted.

I'm working on a new version and will upload it soon.

Launchpad 2.05 upgrade and demo version are now available from my

This is mainly a code tidy up for Launchpad and the addition of a few
new colour theme files. Q-Trans 2.02 now uses the new FileInfo II

[ql-users] Launchpad v2.03

2005-11-13 Thread Dilwyn Jones
I've uploaded v2.03 of Launchpad to my website to fix the most serious
of the issues reported to me over the last few days.

There are some lesser issues to be seen to, but they can wait as they
are mainly cosmetic.

Here's a summary of the fixes made today in v2.03. If registered users
are aware of any further serious bugs, please let me know as soon as
possible, so that I may try to fix them in the next version.

One person is having problems unzipping disk 1 and 2 with Unzip 5.32,
can anyone suggest what might be going wrong as I can't reproduce the
error (on his system it stops unzipping at the Hexpawn instruction
files)?

Password for the new upgrade remains the same as that already issued.

Download upgrades or demo version from
www.dilwyn.uk6.net/gen/launchpad/launchpad.html - click on downloads
link below first picture.

List of problems fixed in v2.03 follows. (Initials of person who
reported bug in brackets, thank you!)

v2.03 (13/11/05)
Fixed problem with re-entering Launchpad after
picking SBASIC from a desktop icon. (MK+FD)
Suppressed selection status of loose items in icon
Properties form. (MK)
WMAVER$ error in launching accessory program fixed. (MK+JP)
Minor bug in launching items from Quicklaunch menu
if already launched from desktop in demo version
  (variable not local). (DJ)
Fixed bug in resizing file selection menu (one item
  wrong scaling value). (DJ)
Most sub-menus now located minimum of 20 pixels
from top of desktop to prevent destructive
overwriting by clock, where the sub-menu is small
enough to allow this on a minimum size desktop. (DJ)
Fixed problem with inconsistent clock text colour
after redraw (confusion between foreground and
  middleground ink colour). (JP)
Fixed problem with shutting down screen saver when
logging off between users with different settings. (JP)
Fixed minor problem loading less than full set of
high colour sprites via LP2SPRITES_dat. (DJ)
Add Program now puts icon in correct place on a
sorted desktop menu (problem in cross-calculation
of icon placement in Launchpad 2 app. window
working from a Launchpad 1 _dat file for icons
  placed as loose items). (DJ)
Launchpad can now start another Launchpad more
reliably, but the second Launchpad should not do
anything to force a save of system files. In any
case, if one Launchpad updates system files, the
other copy running cannot find the changed details,
as if it was useful to run two copies in the first
place (the only valid use I can think of is for the
full version to run a demo version for testing
  purposes). (JP)
A few minor typos in the manuals corrected. (DJ)
Fixed WMAVER$ error when starting Accessory programs.

I've updated my website to reflect the fact that Launchpad v2.01 is
now available from me. It will be available from other resellers
shortly.

There is a demo version and some sample screen shots on the Launchpad
page on my website - from the home page, go to the About The QL
section and follow the link to the Launchpad page.

Launchpad 2 needs a recent pointer environment (v2.01 included for
QDOS systems) or SMSQ/E supporting Window Manager 2.

Version 2 of Launchpad supports System Palette colour themes (use
QCoCo theme files directly, some samples supplied with Launchpad and
QCoCo) and features a new shortcut toolbar at the top. It also
features better support for background colours and images (wallpaper)
than the old version as you'll see from the sample screen dumps. The
accessory programs have been updated too (the new versions are
included in the Launchpad trial version download).

For those people still not using Window Manager 2 the old version will
remain available, but future development will focus on the new
version, as it's so much better - it has more of the feel of a 21st
century front end on systems like QPC2 for example.

If nothing else, I've no doubt Marcel will appreciate the fact that
his work on the new colours and window manager are being used!

If you go to the Quanta page on the same site, you can see pictures
and a report fromt he QL Is 21 show.

Does this mean we get the update from your site for the full version, as
a paid up user ?

... and there is a 'demo' version also, for new users ?

[ql-users] Launchpad 2

2005-11-04 Thread Dilwyn Jones
