[QUAD-L] Fwd: A request to please read, vote and .........
For those who remember Sue, she is still out and about... doing her thing. Vote if you have a chance. Best Wishes From: DTXNEWS To: DTXNEWS BCC: wheelchair Sent: 12/10/2008 9:03:39 A.M. Central Standard Time Subj: Fwd: A request to please read, vote and . We're down to the wire people. The shelter contest ends Sunday the 14th at midnight PST. Please vote each day until then for 2nd Chance Animal Rescue in Vandalia, Illinois. Why? Animal control killed 93% of the 800 animals turned over to them in 2007. This in a county of 29,000 people. We're not talking feral farm cats either. Lynn can get a discount to spay or neuter the known pets that have owners who cannot afford to get it done on there own. We're hoping when the audit comes through that 2nd Chance wins not just the $1,000.00 for first in Illinois but gets a weekly prize of another $1,000.00. But how they count is beyond us when a rescue who was and is 59th, Etosha Resue in Texas, beat our rescue that had stayed in the top 4 for so long and then slid to 10 and now 11. But the 1st in state will pay most of the propane heating bills this winter. The second $1,000. would have paid for 20 neuterings or healthcare for the 3 pups that just died from Parvo after removal from animal control. One of those pups had bleach burns on his pads from the Animal Control using bleach to clean cages without removing the animals first and not rinsing the cages after cleaning. Let's just say someone will be investigating and training in correct running of an animal control facility or getting them fined. Maggie will be sending 2nd Chance some things from their wish list for Christmas--hint, doggie jewelry. While her human will be supporting spinal cord injury research again for Solstice. Happy Holidays My Friends! Sue Pendleton PS...Remember that the Hunger site will remain as will the others so click as you can. . It's amazing how close 2nd Chance gets to the weekly win then out of no where. So please keep clicking on the animal rescue site and when that second page comes up click at the very top on the shelter challenge icon. Select IL and Vandalia then vote for this small but vital rescue in the poorest county in Illinois. The state $1,000 win will pay the propane heating bill for the winter. Yes, the first bill was $472.00 so even that will be tight. But when you see the dogs, pups, cats and kittens with their new forever homes it is so worth what these people are doing. A weekly win would spay or neuter 3 or 4 of the town studs or sleazy dames that create so many litters and yet their owners can't afford this simple operation. Please keep clicking every day until December 14th. Thanks again. Maggie and her human Sue Taylor Pendleton PSI'm fair game when your cause comes up. I already click for food, mammograms, literacy, rainforests, child health and support veterans causes and, of course, SCI research. Please remember us today! We are 9th in the nation, 1st in the state of Illinois. If we can just hold on until 12/14 at midnight, we can win the 1000.00 for 1st in state. Please talk with all of your internet friends and ask them to support us, the 1000.00 will go a long way for our rescue. Just a reminder, the nice part of supporting Second Chance is we have NO paid employees, everyone that works there volunteers their time, gas, etc. EVERY PENNY DONATED GOES STRAIGHT TO THE ANIMALS, there’s no CEO’s making 100,000.00 a year! 2nd Chance Animal Rescue Vandalia, Ill. _www.theanimalrescuesite.com_ (http://www.theanimalrescuesite.com/) Lynn Brown 2nd Chance Animal Rescue 618-283-0898 618-267-4002 www.2ndchancevandalia.com Owned By 3 Rescued Doberman's Ruby, Kobi and Minnie Moo-Moo I GoodSearch for 2nd Chance Animal Rescue. [QUAD-L] Getting rejected from the quad-list
It seems that part of the problem is related to AOL. See the message I received from eskimo.com support. Jim, just a note here, a problem we have with quad-list is that someone on it with an AOL address keeps marking list mail as spam. But when AOL, moron idiots at AOL who I wish would all die, when they forward a spam complaint, they redact the addresses, so instead of a valid address we could act upon we get [EMAIL PROTECTED]. AOL is a problem on ALL lists, but for some reason it is particularly an issue with the qual-list, as someone at AOL on that list keeps persistently marking the messages as spam. With this list I would much appreciate it if you would add something to the subscribe messages encouraging people to use an alternate e-mail and not AOL, and if they must use AOL to be absolutely sure not to mark list mail as spam, as doing so causes AOL to block ALL mail from our servers and then everyone at AOL ends up getting removed and all of our customers can't send to AOL for some period of time. There are only 6 people currently subscribed with an aol.com address. If at all possible could you subscribe with another email address. Gmail is a good free one, http://gmail.com Thanks! Re: [QUAD-L] Getting rejected from the quad-list
LOL, I am one of those 6 using AOL. I only noticed last week for the first time in decades where an email ended up in my spam file. Its never happened before. I've never consider any mail from the Quad List to be spam for any reason. Besides, I only get bounced once or twice a year and resign quickly if I don't receive mail. Re: [QUAD-L] Question about Supplies
Don't get me wrong. I know you wish to sell it if you can. Keep in mind that most people who need this kind of equipment will have the government purchase it new. Used equipment carries no stated or implied warranty. Used equipment may require additional cost to upgrade it to its new user. For this reason a Slightly used electric wheelchair that costs 5-10 grand for its original owner, may only be worth a couple hundred dollars. Plus the costs of shipping. Most people don't have the capital to buy into a risk and those that do want new equipment. Plus you will always have that one complainer after the sale that will drive you crrazy with this doesn't work and that is not what you said it would be. That is why I originally advised Craig's List. Best Wishes and Good Luck! In a message dated 12/10/2008 4:30:34 P.M. Re: [QUAD-L] Getting rejected from the quad-list
This probably still won't get to the List but at least W Dan will get it. I'm guessing Cox.net and AOL may use the same service for identifying and tracking spam. Perhaps sending to a spammed list (where address mining may be occurring) is stopped as much as receiving spam is for others. FW: [QUAD-L] sore advice and pressure relief.
Years ago I had sores more often than not using the High Profile Roho regardless of weight shifts. Several years ago by accident I began using a smaller cushion cover. Since that day inflation does not need be perfect nor are pressure shifts even necessary regardless how long I am up. I get one healed and anothr develops. Its very depressing and frustrating. I was having pretty good luck until my tilt chair died. Now i can't relieve pressure and things aren't going as well. I visit a wound clinic once a week and have done so since june 2007 _ Date: Mon, 8 Dec 2008 19:27:06 -0800 From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: Re: [QUAD-L] sore advice and pressure relief. To: [EMAIL PROTECTED]; [EMAIL PROTECTED]; quad-list@eskimo.com I think you'll be ok now that your cushion is properly inflated. I had a sore that I got in rehab over the summer heal while sitting on my roho after they got me on an air mattress at night. Its the other sore that got infected and lead to another surgery in almost the same place as the sore I got fixed last year. When I met with the wheelchair dealer for a new chair, he said that he has seen people heal on a roho cushion. As long as it has the proper amount of air in it and pressure relief is being done. Speaking of pressure relief, since I got this surgery fusing my back even more, I am not longer able to get any sort of shoulder deppresion that leaves me unable to get my butt off of the surface. I lean now. I haven't gotten any new breakdown since the episode over the summer but am curious how you all do your pressure relief. My wife said it looks sort of like a purple colored bruisecan you guys tell me the best things to put on one early---when it has not even opened up??? is lantaseptic or bag balm good for it ?? i'm real worried because last april, i got a blister on my heel from my wife buying a pair of tennis shoes one size too small---that turned into a pressure sore and now 7 months later it is still slightly discolored and i still only wear sandal type shoe to keep all pressure off that area. So besides the last shoe incidentthis is my 1st time with a butt area pressure sore---i know to do pressure release and stay off as much as possible-- but not sure what to put on it in the early stages. thanks for any help !
