[RBW] Clem Smith Jr, 7 month and 2200 miles in
Hi Zed! Thanks for this write up, it made me appreciate my Clem more than I already do! If possible. This bike is such a great ride, no matter how you set it up. That being said I wish I shared your same experience with front end loads as I experience some shimmy with a Nitto big front and wald basket. I recently removed the rack and am currently rocking only a saddle bag and I am enjoying the un-weighted front end handling. After reading your review I'm really curious about running more supple tires as they relate to speed as I feel the stock kendas are holding me back. But all in all I share a lot of the experiences you write about, good job. Tim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clem Controls
Thanks guys. Kevin, I was able to use the existing shifter cables and didn't have to cut them, they were quite long to begin with, and switching to albas also gave me some length from the boscos. I got lazy with the brake cables though and was able to switch out the levers without even un-hooking the cables at the brake so I'll have to go back and shorten those up one day. Rene, I scanned through your Flickr page and must say, you have/had an awesome collection! Wow. And all the builds are very clean and classy, well done! Looking at the latest additions to the Atlantis, specifically the front campee rack, did you try and line up the lower mounting tang with the rear braze on shared with the fender? It appears it would bring the rack in closer to the rider as well as lower it a bit. Maybe there isn't clearance around the skewer head. Not critiquing, just wondering if it would work as I have always been interested in that rack. Nice job! [RBW] Clementine / Cheviot comparison and random questions
Hey Bob, I can't comment on the Mixte comparison but I can on the fit of the 59 Clem. I have a PBH of 90cm and my saddle height is usually around 78.5 and I love the fit. I was a little leery of the top tube length and the stand over but I am very happy with the fit and a 52 would have been ill fitting. With regard to stand over, riding in my blundstones, which have a reasonably thick sole, I have at least an inch, maybe 2 before I touch bone. Baggy pants may rest on there but not man parts, stand over hasn't been an issue, even off road. I have put my Clem on the skytrain/light rail system in Vancouver and while it fits, it's a bit akward and takes up a lot of space. The wheelbase is long. I haven't tested it in bike racks yet. Very good shape, no rips, tares, stains, just superficial ware. It's probably seen about 4 weeks of touring. I can't find the shoulder strap or the keys. -$50 shipped 3) Ortlieb Back Roller Classic Pannier set (2), in black. These are the larger ones: Height = 16.5 inches. Width = 12.6 inches. [RBW] My Darling Clementine: A Saga
Nice write up Mark! And the clementine looks awesome, stately was a good adjective describing the ride and the looks. It's fun getting to know a new bike and sometimes it takes a bit of time to learn and work out the quirks but in the end I'm sure your Clem will be just as fabulous as the le tour! The more I ride mine the more I feel at home on it. On a fender note, to my eye the rear could be sucked in a bit and that would give a bit more stay length. [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
Bill, I think you're bang on with your analysis and description, thanks for breaking it down and examining/explaining the shifter. I'm not upset at Riv for sourcing this part, its just less then ideal and the nuances of the shifter in this application make it difficult to live with. This is which why I ponied up for some ultegra bar ends. It's good to hear the sun race bodies will house the barcon so further options there. Now this may offend some, and call me new school, but I don't really understand the benefit of friction shifting in the rear. What is the point of being able to trim the rear derailer? it's either in line or not in line and when it's not in line it runs like crap. I know it's all personal preference and no one way is the right way, but I'll take a well tuned index system any day. I don't want to have to think about or customize rear derailer alignment. Front shifting on the other hand I love having the ability to smoothly move the derailer along its plane to prevent chain rub. I'd be willing to sell the shifters Bill if you are serious. But I want to make sure I like the bar ends first and there is no chance that I would want to dismantle the sunrace shifters and turn them in to thumbie bodies - if that is even possible. Deacon Patrick, that's funny I was looking for your front shifter in those photos as it was glaringly missing from the bars. I assumed it was just hiding behind the fender shield on the dt. So, I'm curious Bill and Kai, what do like about these shifters that makes you want to hoard them? [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
Sweet mixte! You have quite the harem of cool city/utility/fun bikes Mark! Ya, I know what you mean with the front shifter, either I'm bumping it or maybe it is rattling out of position as I'm always giving it a couple clicks to stop chain rub. I was thinking it was a cable tension issue but I think you're on to something with the vibration theory. The bottom line is that these shifters weren't meant for this type of application, they are an internal gear hub shifter which I'm not going to pretend I know a lot about but I know that they work on very different shifting principles. Do you guys think if we canvassed the group and band together that Riv would help correct the issue and maybe offer a discount or credit toward some different shifters? Probably a long shot. Based on the description they seem to love these things and they aren't going away cuz they're on basically every ready to ride. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
Well, I bit the bullet and bought some ultegra 8 speed bar end shifters. Gonna run the rear indexed I think. And heads up, I got them for a great price from chain reaction cycles, $70 Canadian, which is like what, $10 US? Haha just kidding, but a good deal. Threw some $30 all silver deore brake levers in the basket too and got free shipping from the UK. I've ordered from CRC before and they are good. I've never run bar ends so I am curious to see how I like them. I've had brifters, down tube, thumbies, trigger and grip shift so it's time. I was a little concerned with the shifters bumping my legs in turns but with the shorter then bosco Albas and the longish stem I have lots of room. I was also wondering if I could dismantle the sunraces and use the bar mount with the ultegras, as a cheap Paul thumbie?? For grips I'm either going to slice a channel in the cheapo Clem grips or go with the felt padding/ newbaum set up. Slicing the grips may be tricky as there are thick finger grooves along the bottom. I decided to switch out the brake levers too because they are all silver, will probably have better performance over the tektros and I don't like how the fastening bolt on the tektros is right on top, it's often digging in to my hand. Both pieces of kit come with cables and housing too so I'm pretty happy with the deal. Yay, new bike parts! I should be done spending now Oh but wheels and tires.hmmm. [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
I thought that too Joe when I first saw them but shifting them is comfortable enough. I push and pull with me thumb and sometimes on the rear shifter I use my index finger from under the bar to push it up. The real issue is this shifting, it's starting to drive me nuts. Last night I went on a 2 hour spin through some local greenway paths and ended up finding some nice undulating forest trails that followed a little creek. The bike handled the swooping turns and uneven surfaces amazingly, it was so fun. But, at one point I was descending and I could see a steep ramp approaching and knew I'd need to be in the small chainring (I was mid or higher up the cassette). Without even touching the rear shifter, only dropping down in the front, it started skipping and clunking and I couldn't get it back again and had to dismount part way up the climb. Annoying. I started thinking about it and wondered if the long chain stays played a roll in this scenario? It's likely the rear shifter is to blame, it was probably one click away from being perfectly in line with the gear and when the chain went to the front ring, the new angle of the chain was enough to cause an alignment issue in the rear. But would the long stays and associated chain also contribute to this? Would the extra length exaggerate the angles? Does the extra long chain affect shifting performance? All bitching and hypothesizing aside, it's not gonna stop me from riding again tonight! And neither is this relentless west coast rain. Once these kiddlings are in bed I'll be out there! -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Sorry Steve, I re-read that and it does need clarification: When I shifted to the small chainring up front, the rear derailer started skipping, clunking and became misaligned. Re: [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
I think you're on to something Steve. Although, the first time I noticed the wobble it I was on the aforementioned descent and I merely sat up to take off my gloves and was coasting, not pedalling, when the shimmy initiated. But your explanation seems more plausible than mine which is the saddle angle adjustment lead to a wobble-free distribution of weight. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
I made an interesting observation on last nights ride regarding front end wobble. Prior to the ride I was looking at a couple photos of my Clem and thought the saddle was tilted a little high, and on my last ride at times I felt a little pressure. So I tilted it more level and no more wobble. Is this even possible? I even went as far as riding to the same descending section of bike path where I first noticed the wobble to replicate the speed and conditions and it didn't happen. Could shifting my weight ever so slightly cause the correction? I made no other changes to the bike prior to this ride, not even tire pressure. Wait, not totally true, I also adjusted the angle of the left brake lever because it felt a little more outward then the right. Maybe it's neither of these, maybe my body is now accustomed to the new handling characteristics with the front rack on now that I've done a few rides with it. Either way I'll take it, and my butt and position on the bike felt way better and balanced with the saddle tweak. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Thanks for the kinds words Wayne. Isn't riding bikes the best form of therapy? It always helps me through the tough times. My girl is such a trooper, and to top it off while at the hospital they did blood work and she was diagnosed with celiac disease. Jeez. So the whole family is going gluten free - but I have to make an exception when it comes to beer! You should try the albas, It greatly improved my enjoyment of the bike. I often find myself going out to the garage to just stare at it now. Is that weird? I'm sure I'm not alone there. That being said I hope not too many Clemers make the swap, I don't want the market to be flooded with boscos as I plan to list mine soon! [RBW] Re: Clemmin' Around
Hey RDS. I'm really not loving the shifters. I'll preface that with the fact that I come from a road background and have only ever ridden indexed rear shifting. I had my front der, down tube shifter on my LHT set up in friction for custom trimming, but never the rear. So on the Clem maybe I'm an inexperienced friction shifter but I often experience mis shifts, especially under load. You know when you "down shift" (easier gear) at the base of a climb and then part way up you realize you need to go easier, it's tricky to finesse the der to the next gear. The shifter clicks, the chain clunks and skips, you give it another click and it can't find the chainline, you move the shifter back up and then it goes back in to the gear that was too hard, and then you loose your momentum, then you slow down and then you start to swear. This doesn't happen when up shifting and it must have to do with those clicks. The shifters only click when down shifting. My next upgrade should be bar end shifters with the rear set indexed. I don't want to pay attention to rear derailer alignment I just want to flick it and go. Front I like to trim as mentioned. It would also be nice to free up some bar space but bar ends would require getting cork grips and I hope I like them as much as the cheap rubber Clem ones cuz those are awesome ! Seriously. The tires are the stock ones that come on the complete build and are Kenda kwick 29x2.0. I don't have calipers but by my eye and a tape measure they seem to measure a bit over 50mm. The fenders are planet bike cascadia 29ers. They claim max tire size of 29x2.3 which I could see as I have a bit of wiggle room. If you're debating which fenders to get and want to see different options on the bike, check out this folder because I tried three different ones before settling on the Cascadias. https://flickr.com/photos/137638381@N05/sets/72157660720878839 I don't mind the look of them and they have good coverage. I just picked up some nomad resist 700x45 tires and probably won't go bigger than 50 and wouldn't mind trying some velo orange 60mm fender of some style, to class it up a bit. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. Thanks Bob! One thing I'll say about the Bosco is that they have a lot more useable grip options and It was nice to rotate through them on longer rides. On the albas I'm mainly on the grips, maybe a bit in front of them and I found a nice tt position with my forearms resting on the bars. [RBW] Re: What stem?
Hey Keith, thanks for posting those pics. Btw, Looks like a nice piece of property you got there - enjoyed the view!!! Much whiter then over here! i think I've figured out that a 1 to 2cm stem deduction from the boscos will give me the position I am after. I always feel like the boscos come too far in to me, especially while sharp turning. I am also constantly grabbing ahead of the break lever so I can stand to loose some reach from the bar end. I did a nice 40k ride 2 days ago, completely in the the rain/sleet/snow and had a 12km stretch of riverside flats with a headwind. I was grabbing the Bosco at the front, ahead of the bull horns(?) and it was quite helpful in staying out of the wind. I can see a similar position on the albas, in the "humps" but they appear to be 2 or more cm ahead of where the Bosco front is. A 1 cm reduction for me will make that area useable. Have you tried flipping the albas to get lower? -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] What stem?
Thanks everyone for the input. I sent a PM to Keith requesting comparison photos of the albas and Boscos on the Clem but maybe others would want to see them, Keith up to you if you want to post them here. A lot of my desire to do a bar switch is fit related, but some of it has to do with aesthetics as I don't love the bull moose. I like the look of a level quill stem versus the positive angle and triangular set up of the bull moose. I think a tallux stem with an Alba bar would give me the drop and lean I am looking for, taking in to account the -40mm difference between bars only, and the further difference between the stem angle of the two styles. I never really considered the width of the Alba to be a deal breaker, or concern, and this is the first time I'm hearing about that being an issue. All other reviews and comments I read about the bars is that people love them and often never look back once installed. The width of the boscos is pretty extreme and I can't see wanting to go any wider. As it stands you have to be pretty focused riding through traffic and on narrow bridge decks or passing others on paths. I would be happy with a reduction in width. Sounds like I've made my decision! [RBW] WTB: Nitto Tallux Stem

I had a shopping basket all ready to go on riv with a stem and a couple other goodies but I'd thought I'd check with my fellow part-hoarding-cockpit-modifiers to see what's out there. What I need: -Nitto stem, 110 or 120, preferably tallux, but it has to be the brushed, dull brite finish, not shiny Chrome. [RBW] What stem?
In the next couple days I'm putting an order in for some Alba bars and tallux stem for my Clem. My 59cm Clem has the stock bosco bull moose and I'm looking for group input on what length stem to buy. As we know the bosco bullmoose has a 12cm extension and I'm just wondering how that should translate to an Alba conversion. It seems the Alba extends past the clamp area at the "humps", in effect, increasing the reach in the forward grip. This leads me to think I should go for a shorter stem, say 11cm. I like the current fit and reach on my Clem and if anything I wouldn't mind a more aggressive position - less rise, more lean, shorter grip. Does anyone have any personal experience in switching between bosco and albatross and what conclusions were drawn? Thanks for your time and input. [RBW] So how lively is the Clem?
I've been pleasantly surprised with its liveliness. I expected it to ride like a tank but when I climb out of the saddle I don't feel like I'm losing momentum, slowing down or fighting with the bike. I think it would benefit from nicer tires, I'm running the stock kendas. It's not the quickest accelerator from a dead stop but if you are already trucking along and need to accelerate, to beat a traffic light for example, it gets up and goes. My points of reference are carbon and steel road bikes and also a surly LHT. Compared to the surly I enjoy the Clem's ride a lot more. I think the surly was a little quicker To get up to speed but I always found that when climbing out of the saddle on the surly it fell stiff and the opposite of lively. I don't get that on the Clem. Re: [RBW] Re: Anyone order a Joe?
Ya I think you're right about the illusion. However, I think most 55cm joe riders would also ride a 52 Clem, and the 52 Clem has a 61cm tt which I think compensates well for swept back bars. Maybe the joe will be more versatile in the bar selection dept. meaning it would be suitable to run uprights or drops. When I found out prior to delivery that my 59 Clem had a 64cm tt I was concerned as all my other bikes are all around 57-59, however it feels great. I am loving the extra room, and while drop bars are probably out of the question, I wouldn't want the top tube or reach to be any less. In fact I am probably going to swap out the boscos for albas as sometimes I feel the bars are too close. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, here or in other posts, but there are some nice photos of the choco bar in staff bikes on grants cheviot. Not sure how long they've been up, I pop by the staff bikes area for accessory inspiration once in a while and just noticed. Kinda looks like a Bosco with less rise. [RBW] Clem with drop bars?!?
Do it! And take pictures. I did a nice 50km ride on my Clem a couple days ago and was amazingly comfortable. While riding I was imagining where the hoods would be on a drop set up and I think it would be doable for me. The boscos on the other hand offer so many grip options that I'm not sure the change would be an upgrade, just a change. The one thing that drops would add is more grip control while descending and braking. I hit 70km/hr on the ride and it felt a little unnerving holding the bosco at the brakes. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clem Smith fenders?
Hey Keith, you and I seem to enjoy fretting over bike details together! I was laughing at myself as I literally have 3 sets of brand new fenders for my Clem and I can't make a decision. Every time I rule one out I look at a picture or throw them back on and change my mind. Oh the curse of indecision. So I took some quick photos of the fender selections on the bike. They aren't great but hopefully they give you an idea of what will work. I actually already had the B65's packaged up to be returned but I opened the box again for the shots and they aren't as bad as I remember. I'm fairly certain I'll end up ruling them out so if you, or anyone else wants them I'll sell them for $55 and I'll eat the shipping in conus. [RBW] Clem Smith fenders?
Mark, the pinstripes on the 65's are actually clear or see through. I don't think there are any reflective qualities. The traditional Sks stripe pattern, as you described it and is on the 55's, I don't mind. I thought about spray painting the 65s but not sure how they'd turn out. Those aluminum PB's look sweet too, and if they are less shiney then the poly then that would be a positive. I also considered some VO aluminums but plastic seems to suit the Clem concept. The p55s, when you raise them off the tire and in the "install position" do seem to offer just enough coverage for the 2.0s. They wouldn't rub but as Zed mentioned above there may be some side spray? I put the 55s and the 65s side by side and with the mudflats the 55s are a little longer. The current stock Kenda tires need to go, they are heavy, loud and slow. So I think the plan for now is: run the kendas through the winter with the black Planet Bike Cascadias (they were only $35 Canadian so what's that? Like $2 USD? So sad right now) Keep the Sks p55s for the summer tires which will be the soma supple vitesse 42c. I think the gum wall and the silver fenders will be nice. Depending on the durability and longevity of that tire I'll probably switch to a schwalbe 50c for the following winter and for touring and extended gravel. Riv site says the 50 big bens measure at 45 so should be good to go. So, the B65s are for sale. I'll probably start a FS post if no one offers in the next couple days. Thanks for the feedback. [RBW] FT: Curious About The Bosco?
I propose a trade: My barely used Bosco bullmoose off of my new Clem for your albatross bars and Nitto stem. Based on riv pricing it seems like a good straight across trade. The boscos are sweet, stylish and comfy, but my 59cm Clem is big - in a good way - and I just don't need the extra rise that the boscos offer. Any takers? Lemme know. If I can't find a willing participant I my be interested in buying an albatross if you have one laying around. [RBW] Clem Smith fenders?
I'm having fender dilemmas, mainly because I'm picky when it comes to fender appearance. The first set I tried was the B65 in silver (my Clem is 700c), and while they fit well over the stock 29x2.0, they looked awful, and huge. Maybe the long stays expose the rear tire more but the fenders seemed to dominate the appearance. Also, the new SKS's have pin stripping down the centre and I just wasn't digging it, it could have also been the silver wasn't playing well with the grey paint. For some reason I then tried the silver p55's, and while they are marketed as a 26" fender, riv recommends them for 29" up to a 2.0. They were barely wide enough to cover the tread and being a 26, longboard or not, they were just too short. And again, the pinstriping. I was willing to settle on the p55 as I have plans to try out the new soma 42c gumwall and thought it was a good fit, but they just weren't looking right. Both of those sets are going back and I'm going to try some black planet bike cascadia 29ers. Hoping they look decent and are full coverage. [RBW] FS/FT: Tubus Tara Lowrider Front Rack
Hey everyone, I have a Tubus Tara, black, that I no longer need and wondering if there is any interest in the group. It's in good shape with only minor scuffing where the panniers attach. It's seen minimal use, maybe a total of 4 weeks of touring. $75 USD shipped to lower 48 and Canada. I would also entertain a trade for either a Nitto mini front rack, a silver surly front rack, or a Nitto big front rack (34f) and cash. Let me know if you are interested and I can send some photos. [RBW] Re: Let's See Some Clem/Clementine Pics
Hey Mark, With regard to the stock saddle, I only rode around a parking lot for like two minutes on it and put my brooks on before my longer rides so I can't really comment too much. It felt pretty good tho, it's a flat saddle and is wider then my b17, it almost resembles the shape of a b67. The riding position is upright but you can still achieve some lean in your back, I think it feels tall more than upright if that makes sense. That being said, and as Zed alluded to, the boscos allow for multiple hand positions which allow you to get lower and more aggressive if the situation calls for it. I found when I was climbing I grabbed near the "stem" on the flat, front area and that got me in a pretty aggressive position. While descending or powering the flats, I found it comfortable to rest my forearms on the high tops, on top of the brake/shifter lever area, and grab just fore of them. In that position I would say my back was flat and almost parallel to the top tube. But it sure was nice after riding hard in these positions to sit up and grab the grips and not feel stretched out or strained. It's the best of both worlds. I even did some out of the saddle efforts and once I got the cadence and weight of the bike figured out it was a nice climbing position. That being said, running bar end shifters on these bars may be difficult as you'd be bumping them with you legs and or body. The bike is like a locomotive, once it's up to speed it just rolls along, soaking up the bumps beautifully. I literally smile every time I'm on it. It's raining here in Vancouver and my fenders haven't arrived yet but I think another night ride is in the cards. [RBW] Re: Racks for the Clem
I just realized that my Tubus Tara won't work on the Clem without installing mid fork clamps. Does anyone know how the surly front rack would line up with the higher fork braze ons on the Clem? What about the mid fork struts on the new soma porteur deluxe? Maybe I'll have to pony up for the nitto campee with the removable low riders. I want to be able to run a basket and panniers up front. Why does rivendell have to be different and mount their braze ons higher that the majority of manufactures? And what about the braze ons on top of the fork crown? Is there a rack that attaches there? I think I remember seeing a rando rack that did. Cycles Touissant out of Calgary maybe? [RBW] Re: Joe Appaloosa geometry
Any Clem buyers regretting their decision? I'm waiting for my 59 Clem but the 58 Joe seems appealing. A lot of the same positive features (long chain stays, tire clearance, high bars, load carrying capacity), but it seems the joe could be set up as a drop bar fast tourer. I feel like the Clem geometries prevent it from being a go fast or drop bar bike, but that being said I haven't even ridden it yet. The joe is obviously in a different price bracket and I don't see the purpose of owning both one day due to their similarities. I'm just going to love my Clem and have fun riding it, that hasn't changed. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Racks for the Clem
As the shipping date for my Clem draws nearer I am at an impasse with regard to accessories. I'm pretty sure the Sks B65 fenders are the way to go, and a front mounted wald basket is mandatory, but racks are still a question mark. I have a Tubus Tara front low rider laying around but it's black and I want to stick to a silver theme. Right now the front rack choices I'm tossing around are: -surly nice rack (can mount the basket and tons o'pannier) -soma porteur deluxe (as above) -a combination of the Tubus Tara for panniers and a Nitto m18/mark's rack for the basket -the $30 soma front rack would get me rolling with a basket with less output but I question its strength. My basket needs to be able to tote at least 12 cans of beer For the rear I like the daija works or an axiom journey, or even a matching surly nice if I went that route on the front. I also like the look of the sackville med bag so maybe I don't really need a spendy rear rack. What should I do? My rational side says wait till the bike gets here and feel it out, but part of me wants it ready to roll when it arrives. Bottom line, I should be riding more and searching the internet less Advice is welcomed. -Tim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Racks for the Clem
I was wondering that too Wayne. In looking at the most recent photos on the blug it appears they've added a lower braze-on a couple inches north of the dropout which I assume would work for a rack stay. This would effectively bring the rack inboard, accounting for the longer stays. Not sure about the plescher rack. What really would you put in a rat trap? I can see it being handy for a jacket or a u-lock but that stuff can go in the front basket. Tim -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clem Geometry
That's a strange and curious pattern for sure. Curious as I feel that big gap would be a very common and popular size for the average sized male (5'9-6'1). What is a good amount of stand over anyway? If the 59 Clem with 700x60's has an 88cm stand over and I have a 90 pbh in bare feet, I think I'm in for a snug relationship with my top tube. Luckily I ride in fairly thick soled shoes (keen sandals and blundstone boots). I ride mostly road and trail, nothing super technical so I feel good about my choice. But as you say, it would be nice if there was a size in the middle. -- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "RBW Owners Bunch" group. [RBW] Re: Clem Geometry
Keith, great analysis. I have to admit, I thought I had a good grasp on fit and geometry charts, but can honestly say that I have I no idea how front centre translates to ride and fit. I come from a road background and always based my sizing on tt length and head tube (a little thought was put in to ht/st angles but again I didn't know how they translated). For years I have been under the assumption that I needed a 57/58cm tt and that's that. So the thought of a 64cm tt is a lot to wrap my head around. Like you said,I'm going to trust in the process and method and hope it all works out (gulp). What reassures me is the comparison you make between a 59 Clem and a 58 hunq being close in size and fit. I'm not sure why this reassures me cuz I've never ridden a 58 hunq, but I feel like if I were to buy one I'd buy a 58. Yikes. Anyway, not gonna stress about it, just gonna open that box when it gets here and ride off in to the sunset with my bars high.and hope that I can reach them. [RBW] Clem Geometry
Hey all, looks like riv has posted the geometry chart on the Clem page. Must have just went up. No stand over heights but the top tube lengths are listed. Not sure if it's effective length or actual and how the 6 degree slope would change the length if it is indeed the actual. I'm a little concerned about the 64cm of tt length I'll be rocking on my 59 but with bosco bars I'm sure reach won't be a major concern. Can't wait.
