I remember seeing somewhere that pin J3-6 (test point 7) had direct COR output? Unless this is only on digital stations. Where exactly did you get the ptt & audio points?     Andy KC2GOW

I have an MSF tricked out to do what you want. Getting audio in and out
is easy. PTT is easy. COR is a little harder. There is now way to get it
directly without building a little 4 componant circuit that takes a line
from one of the ic's and bias an transistor to operate a tiny reed relay.

RE: [Repeater-Builder] Vertex 5000

2006-01-07 Thread Eric Lemmon
Robert,

You will need the VPL-1 Programming Cable for both the VXR-5000 integral
controller as well as the Pacific Research controller. I know; I have a UHF
VXR-5000 repeater in GMRS service right now with a PR R-310 controller.

The VPL-1 cable contains circuitry for data conversion and multiplexing, so
you should purchase this cable- it's not cost-effective to build one. Also,
you should have the VXR-5000 Service Manual in hand before attempting the
programming.

[Repeater-Builder] EF Johnson Scorpion 5960

Hi

I have an EF Johnson Scorpion 5960 and need the programmer for it. If
someone has one or has the pinouts for the mike jack (to build my own) I
would appreciate the information.

I would assume it is simular to other radios and just needs the +- 12v
to be converted to 5 to 0vdc and that a MAX232 should work fine.
This is for use on a GMRS repeater.

Thanks

What type of circuit would they be carving out for you?

Depending on their gear, it may be cheaper to put an E&M card directly
in their chassis.

If they're carving out a complete T1 for you, Adtran, Carrier Access
Corporation, and various others make E&M channel banks, cheap.

The receiver should be good for at least 2 MHz channel
separation without retuning. An internal
filter/duplexer, if present, might need to be tweaked
a bit on the new transmit frequency for optimum
results.

I can reprogram your eeprom, shoot me an e-mail direct.

One word of warning, the MSF-5000 CW ID timer is hard coded to ID at 15

As far as adding an external controller check MSF-5000 article on the

I have an analog MSF5000 (comb# C74CLB7106AT) repeater station on
the ham band already. I have three questions:

1)Does anybody have the resources to reprogram the eprom? (I need
the frequency changed/CW callsign ID changed). This is for HAM, non-
commercial use only. If you do not want to mention it over the list,
contact me direct at: KC2GOW AT YAHOO DOT COM

2)I am only moving down 450KHz on the RX and TX frequency's. Other
than the preselector, is their anything that I need to adjust after
the frequency change because of the close spacing? (It has been
tuned/optimized to the original freq. I am moving from).

3)On the analog station, has anyone ever interfaced an external
controller to it, bypassing the internal logic (An ACC RC-850)?
Where is the best place to do this in the station? Are there any
step by step websites someone could refer me to for this?

Thanks Guys.

You should buy one. You will use this cable when you program your Pacific
Research controller also. There is a small circuit board populated in the
com port connector. It's not just connecting the right wires. There are some
aftermarket ones on Ebay sometimes.

I got this radio used about 2 years ago, so it's long out of
warranty. Trip to Yaesu is last resort, as I don't care that much about 10
or 6 meters anymore & may be inclined to sell the radio as-is if the repair
