[rt-users] occasional broken attachments, will be okay when forwarded

2009-02-24 Thread Bernhard Hansbauer

Hi,
we run into broken attachments from time to time, broken in a sense that
they can't be viewed, RT will return a 401 error.
When we forward them, the attachments are okay for both Thunderbird and
Outlook users.
What's so strange about this is that it only happens from time to time.
Did anyone encounter this? Any suggestions?

Thank you all,

Bernhard

[rt-users] Long queue name coming out of frame on homepage

2009-02-24 Thread Potla, Ashish Bassaliel
Hi,
I am using RT 3.8.2, and I have a problem on the homepage.

The length of the name of many of my queues are quite long(they follow a naming
convention which tends to add a '.help' to the queue name) that it juts out of
the the left frame, where we see tabs like homepage,configuration etc..

Earlier in 3.6, I didnt have this problem because the layout was different. I
tried a lot to wrap the text, but in firefox which is the browser many ppl here
use, I am unable to do so.

Can anyone help me out here?

Re: [rt-users] anybody using RTx::Statistics

2009-02-24 Thread Steven Platt
Calvin,

We're using a version of RTx::Statistics on RT v3.6.2.
It's partly working. Histograms are OK, but the line graphs (Tkts per
day, Multiple Qs, Time to resolve) display constant values across the
entire graph. I think the query is gathering data just from the latest
date rather than as an array across the date range, but we don't make
great use of the package and so haven't seen this as a priority fix.

The default RT reports get more use than RTx::Statistics charts.

[rt-users] Searching for To: field in Content

2009-02-24 Thread Stephen Cochran
Hopefully this is really simple, but I haven't got it working yet.

I'm trying to search for text that would be in the To: field of the
headers of a ticket that was created via email. I've found (finally) where
this lives, it's in the attachment table in the DB.

When building a query, content does seem to search the headers field in
the Attachment table.

Is there no way to do this through the web interface? I don't see Headers
anywhere in the Query builder.

Currently, you will need to select content to search for something
anywhere in the content including the headers. There is not a header
specific item. This should not be too onerous if you have full-text
indexing available. The Wiki has instructions currently for Oracle
and PostgreSQL backends.

Re: [rt-users] Second Instance Of RT (for branding purposes)

2009-02-24 Thread Doug Eubanks
I'm so close nowbut it's always selecting brandy (the new brand). I'm
sure it's something small and simply that I'm missing now. I really
appreciate your help so far.

I know the whole brandx, brandy thing is a little confusing. I've double
checked all of the refences below, and brandx and brandy are used the
correct spots in each code snippet below.

Here is the output of the foo file that shows that the ENV variables are
being set:

tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com
tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com
tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com
tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com
tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com

I've double checked the httpd.conf file, inside of the brandy site, we have
PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux-brandy.pl

Inside of the brandx site, we have
PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux.pl

Here's my webmux.pl changes for the old brand:
#This drags in RT's config.pm
BEGIN {
$ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com';
RT::LoadConfig();
if ($RT::DevelMode) { require Module::Refresh; }
}

Here's my webmux-brandy.pl changes for the old brand:
#This drags in RT's config.pm
BEGIN {
$ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com';
RT::LoadConfig();
if ($RT::DevelMode) { require Module::Refresh; }
}

This is my RT.pm LoadConfig sub, right before it stats and loads the site
config file:
my $ser = $ENV{'SERVER'} ;
open F,  /tmp/foo ;
  print F $ser \n;
close F;

if ($ENV{'SERVER'} eq tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com) {
  $SITE_CONFIG_FILE = '/opt/rt3/etc/RT_SiteConfig-Refense.pm' ;
}
if ($ENV{'SERVER'} eq tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com) {
  $SITE_CONFIG_FILE = '/opt/rt3/etc/RT_SiteConfig.pm' ;
}

 The best bet to see if its loaded into ENV is by adding a print statement
 in RT.pm LoadConfig, looking at my dev code I think I managed to do
 something like
 sub LoadConfig {

 my $ser = $ENV{'SERVER'} ;
 open F,  /opt/rt3/bin/foo ;
   print F $ser \n;
 close F;

 if ($ENV{'SERVER'} eq 'my_brandx_instance.com
 http://my_brandx_instance.com' ) {
   $SITE_CONFIG_FILE = '/opt/rt3/local/etc/RT_SiteConfig_brandx.pm' ;
 }

 I think at the time of restarting apache something will be written to the
 foo file

 Hi,
 I am using RT 3.8.2, and I have a problem on the homepage.

 The length of the name of many of my queues are quite long(they follow a
 naming convention which tends to add a '.help' to the queue name) that it
 juts out of the the left frame, where we see tabs like homepage,configuration
 etc..

 Earlier in 3.6, I didnt have this problem because the layout was different. I
 tried a lot to wrap the text, but in firefox which is the browser many ppl
 here use, I am unable to do so.
Such are the joys of CSS.

You could try using one of using one of the older themes,
reordering widgets so that it doesn't overlap anything else,
or shortening the name. Else, have fun with Mason...

Hello

If you want to adapt it , then you need to know bash/awk/sql/gnuplot but
this is not complicated (only a few lines of code)
however you can probably use it as is if you update the for q in line

the reports created show tickets historic information per week
- tickets created per week per queue
- tickets resolved per week per queue
- currently open tickets per week

bash script :

[rt-users] User given Administrator Privelages - Still can't make changes

2009-02-24 Thread Ryan Stepalavich
Good Morning,

We have a user that was just given administrator privelages to make some
queue changes, but he cannot make any changes (given error Access
Denied). Is there any tweak in the MySQL database so that I can
forcefully grant him access to RT?

We're running RT 3.6.6.

Re: [rt-users] Second Instance Of RT (for branding purposes)

2009-02-24 Thread Doug Eubanks
That's what I have, two different webmux.pl files...

They are in the same /opt/rt3/bin folder...

The old brand is called webmux.pl, the new brand is called webmux-brandy.pl

They are called in httpd.conf with these two separate lines in their
respective host entries...
PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux-brandy.pl
PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux.pl

Sincerely,
Doug Eubanks

On Tue, Feb 24, 2009 at 11:54 AM, Raed El-Hames r...@vialtus.com wrote:

 Doug;

 Looking at the http conf file you sent below, you seem to call the same
 webmux.pl

 PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux.pl

 You 'll need to have multiple versions of webmux.pl in each version you
 add the line
 $ENV{'SERVER'}= 'my_brand(?)_instance.com
 http://my_brandx_instance.com

 For example you have tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com and
 tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandy.com

 httpd.conf :

 VirtualHost tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com:80
   ServerName tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com
   DocumentRoot /opt/rt3/share/html
   etc etc etc
 PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux-brandy http://tickets.brandy.com.pl

   etc etc etc
 /VirtualHost

 VirtualHost tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandy.com:80
   ServerName tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandy.com
   DocumentRoot /opt/rt3/share/html
   etc etc etc
 PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux-brandx http://tickets.brandy.com.pl

   etc etc etc
 /VirtualHost

 Now webmux:
 You should have atleast 2 copies in /opt/rt3/bin one called webmux-brandy
 http://tickets.brandy.com.pl and the other webmux-brandx
 http://tickets.brandy.com.pl

 Edit webmux-brandy http://tickets.brandy.com.pl adding the line:
   $ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com';
  where ENV is being set
  so basically you'll end up with something similar to:

 BEGIN {
   $ENV{'PATH'}   = '/bin:/usr/bin'; # or whatever you
 need
   $ENV{'CDPATH'} = '' if defined $ENV{'CDPATH'};
   $ENV{'SHELL'}  = '/bin/sh' if defined $ENV{'SHELL'};
   $ENV{'ENV'}= '' if defined $ENV{'ENV'};
   $ENV{'IFS'}= '' if defined $ENV{'IFS'};
   $ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com';

 Now edit webmux-brandx http://tickets.brandy.com.pl adding the line
  $ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandy.com';
  where ENV is being set
  so basically you'll end up with something similar to:

 BEGIN {
   $ENV{'PATH'}   = '/bin:/usr/bin'; # or whatever you
 need
   $ENV{'CDPATH'} = '' if defined $ENV{'CDPATH'};
   $ENV{'SHELL'}  = '/bin/sh' if defined $ENV{'SHELL'};
   $ENV{'ENV'}= '' if defined $ENV{'ENV'};
   $ENV{'IFS'}= '' if defined $ENV{'IFS'};
   $ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com';

 Now RT.pm
 at the start of sub LoadConfig add the lines:

  if ($ENV{'SERVER'} eq 'tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandy.com' )
 {
   $SITE_CONFIG_FILE = '/opt/rt3/local/etc/RT_SiteConfig_brandx.pm' ;
  } elsif ($ENV{'SERVER'} eq 'tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com'
 ) {
  $SITE_CONFIG_FILE = '/opt/rt3/local/etc/RT_SiteConfig_brandy.pm' ;
  }

 Now RT_SiteConfig:

 You should have atleast 2 copies RT_SiteConfig_brandx.pm, and
 RT_SiteConfig_brandy.pm each have the instance customisation ,

 And thats it..

 I'm so close nowbut it's always selecting brandy (the new brand). I'm

 appreciate your help so far.

 I know the whole brandx, brandy thing is a little confusing. I've double
 checked all of the refences below, and brandx and brandy are used the
 correct spots in each code snippet below.

 Here is the output of the foo file that shows that the ENV variables are
 being set:

 tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com

 tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com

 tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com

 tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com

 tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com

 tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com http://tickets.brandy.com

 tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com

 I've double checked the httpd.conf file, inside of the brandy site, we
 have
 PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux-brandy.pl

 Inside of the brandx site, we have
 PerlRequire /opt/rt3/bin/webmux.pl

 Here's my webmux.pl changes for the old brand:
 #This drags in RT's config.pm http://config.pm
 BEGIN {
$ENV{'SERVER'}= 'tickets.brandx.com http://tickets.brandx.com
 http://tickets.brandx.com';
RT::LoadConfig();

[rt-users] RT 3.8 and FastCGI out of memory via http but not https

I had RT 3.6.7 installed on a Debian Etch machine, and all was well. I

I had this same issue. This worked for me.

First login to your mysql database

Mysql –p –u root –D rtdb

This will log you in as root(-u) in the rtdb database(-D) with a prompt for a
password(-p). Next, we want to change the session tables. Type in this exact
command when you get to the

mysql prompt (note capitalization areas):

/ALTER TABLE sessions CHANGE a_session a_session LONGBLOB;/

//

A lot of people have been having this issue, but hopefully this will fix the
issue.

Changing the a_sessions table from longtext to longblob fixed it.
Thanks, Steven! Now that I know the answer I've found the other threads
relating to this, but I was apparently using poor search terms before :)

Shouldn't the upgrade scripts for rt-setup-database --action upgrade take
care of this? Seems weird that it doesn't.

The schema changes necessary for this major upgrade were deemed too
invasive (and slow) to automate. UPGRADING.somethingorother talks you
through the update.

[rt-users] REST interface attachment weirdness

2009-02-24 Thread Tom Lahti
In the REST interface, if you make a request like:

Request: /REST/1.0/ticket/ticket-id/attachments/attachment-id

You get a response like:

RT/3.8.2 200 Ok

id: 866
Subject:
Creator: 66
Created: 2008-08-05 00:27:27
Transaction: 2467
Parent: 864
MessageId:
Filename: word.doc
ContentType: application/msword
ContentEncoding: none
o
Headers: Content-Type: application/msword; name=word.doc
 Content-Disposition: inline; filename=word.doc
 Content-Transfer-Encoding: base64
 Content-Length: 27648

Content: .
 .
 .

Now, the content-length says 27648, but the length of everything after
Content: is 38884. Noting that it has spaces in it after each newline, I
can search replace \n\s{9} with \n and get to 38470 -- I'm still way
above 27648. Now, supposedly this is base64 encoded, according to the
Content-Transfer-Encoding, but if I base64 decode this string of 38470 I get
a string that is 2314 bytes.

Worse, the actual file size is 31332, which is what I get when I download it
through the web interface interactively. This is greater than the
Content-Length header, and less than the content returned. This is
obviously a bit puzzling.

If I use the REST request
/REST/1.0/ticket/ticket-id/attachments/attachment-id/content

I get the correct content, plus 3 extra carriage returns. But I don't get
the filename, the size, or the content type. I could do both, but then I'm
downloading the content from the REST interface twice per attachment, which
is silly, especially if its necessary to scale.

Is there a way I can reconstruct the content correctly from the former REST
call, or get the filename/content type/encoding with the latter? I'd hate
to have to rely on patching the REST interface and then maintaining the
patch for when we upgrade.

[rt-users] force a dashboard report right now?

2009-02-24 Thread Jo Rhett
I'm trying to debug why dashboard mail isn't going out.

I had some errors in rt.log related to graphviz until I found the
undocumented disableGraphViz set command and used it. But now there
is no error ... just nothing. No attempt to send mail. Funny enough
-- if I delete a dashboard I do get e-mail saying that the dashboard
is no longer there. But never the dashboard mail.

Is there any way to get a dashboard e-mail done *NOW* instead of on a
given hour? Every attempt forces me to back off and wait another
hour to see what's going wrong. I'd love to say run my dashboard
RIGHT NOW so I could use ktrace on it to determine what is failing.
Please clue me in.

rt-email-dashboards has an --all option to ignore subscription date/time
constraints. Invoke it with --help to get more information. The --debug
and --verbose options will be helpful for you.

This isn't the first time I've heard of this failure mode so I'd be
happy to work with you to track it down. I wasn't able to reproduce it
myself.

doh! Sorry, I misread the --all syntax in help to mean something
different. Anyway, I did figure it out:

[Wed Feb 25 06:00:03 2009] [error]: Caught exception: mkdir /var/run/
rt38/mason_data/obj/3583890391: Permission denied at /usr/local/lib/
perl5/site_perl/5.8.8/HTML/Mason/Compiler/ToObject.pm line 107 (/usr/
local/sbin/rt-email-dashboards:119)

The problem was that the user I was running the dashboard under has no
ability to write to this directory. The directory is created as
www:www 640.

I know you guys just LOVE to run things as root, but I really prefer
to run with the most limited rights. And I hate running these
scripts as the web server too, but that's all that seems to work given
the rights structure. When I have time I'll be proposing some
alternatives to limit the necessary rights for RT ;-)
