RE: CSWilliam Briggs - help with inaccuracies

Subject: CSWilliam Briggs - help with inaccuracies

 Hi all,

I will be attending a talk to be given by William Briggs,
 author of a book
on CS (don't know the title), to be held here in Perth on Nov
 26. I was
invited, separately, by a couple of different friends, both
 of whom I have
talked to extensively about the virtues of CS. Because of this I did
a
little net searching on William Briggs and found a site that
 appears to be
closely associated with him, the Compassion Response Network:

 http://www.nw.com.au/%7Ekeane/healing/02CSHealthSafety/00index2.htm

What I found was quite a number of, in my opinion,
 inaccuracies and half
truths. I may be doing Mr Briggs an injustice by assuming that the
statements are linked to him and, if that is not so, I
 apologise totally.
If, however, these are really related to his ideas then I
 would like to be
sure of my facts before my friends are exposed to his talk.

Could those with a reasonable grasp of the following issues,
 selected from
the various web pages on the site, please comment on them
accordingly?
Also, anyone who has read his book may be able to discern if these
are
similar concepts to those he has written.

BTW, at one point Bill Briggs is described as Australia's
 leading authority
 on colloidal silver.

 On colloids, ions and salts:

A Particulate Test, or Specific Ion Test. This test measures
 only colloidal
(that is, ionic) silver, and can be expressed as ppm of
 colloidal silver

True. A silver ion selective electrode (ISE) will register only the
activity of silver ions (or sulphide ions). It does not measure
concentration directly, but this can be inferred by the use of a
calibration curve generated from the measurement of standards of known
concentration. This is not a particulate test.

Pure water itself does not conduct an electron flow, but
 ions (colloidal
particles) and salts are good conductors for electron flow.

I thought ions (Ag+) and colloidal particles were different.

True colloidal particles do not conduct current in water, being
clusters of uncharged atoms. Conduction in water depends upon free
ions. As most Colloidal Silver contains a high percentage of ions the
terminology has become somewhat blurred, however, when describing
characteristics of colloidal silver in a (pseudo) scientific manner,
one should be particular about the terminology.

On what is formed when making CS:

with most products, show that about 80% of the silver
 content is in silver
 salts or compounds.

Rubbish! Given that one starts with pure water, and other substances
are not added, it can be readily demonstrated that greater than 90% is
found as silver ions or particles.

Silver sinters off from the anode, forming either positively
 charged silver
colloid particles, or combining with any salts or compounds
 in the water,
forming silver chloride, silver nitrate, silver iodide or
 various other
silver compounds depending upon the salts and impurities
 originally in the
 water.

This is true as far as it goes, however, distilled water of any merit
does not contain more than the merest traces of any of these elements
(nitrate, iodine, chloride) in the parts per billion range.

Even most of the genuinely electro-colloidal solutions
 contained about
80% silver salts, and some of these were in such high
 concentrations, or
using toxic salts such as silver nitrate, that regular taking
 of them over
years could lead to severe silver toxaemia and perhaps even
diagnosed
 argyria.

Rubbish! Show us the figures...from an independent laboratory...with
traceable samples. This is just scare-mongering of the worst kind...

More on positively charged next, but is ionic silver
 (the 80%) the
same as silver salts or compounds?

No.

On absorption (adsorption?) and associated charge:

Colloidal silver and silver salts however, because of their
positive
charge, are repelled by the intestinal lining, which
 therefore does not
admit such positively charged particles to be adsorbed into the
blood
 stream.

Then of course we would never absorb sodium, potassium, zinc, copper,
magnesium or any other mineral (being positively charged
ions)...unless of course these are absorbed in the mouth and throat
also by that negatively charged blood.

But in the mouth and throat, the Ph balance is definitely
 alkaline, and
under such situations, the positively charged silver colloid
 is rapidly
adsorbed, that is, attracted and assimilated by the negatively
charged
 mineral elements in the blood.

I was under the impression that, while the ions had a
 positive valence,
the colloidal particles were negatively charged.

Colloids are negatively charged in some

Hi all,
Herx, many thanks for your ppm calculator, it's great to finally have a
reasonable idea of the CS ppm I'm making.
The ppm of my last CS batch is calculated to be 48.09ppm.

The color of the CS is clear in daylight and has a pronounced familar

I'm definately going to incorporate a stirring mechanism next.

CSDark CS

2001-11-15 Thread Terry Chamberlin
Pam,
Whenever you have colored CS, it is usually one of
only a few reasons.

Either your water is not pure (has minerals, etc., in
it), or the silver is not pure silver, or you are
cooking it too long.

If you are using a quart jar, first add one cup of CS,
then 3 cups of DW. Position the wires about 2 apart.
If using 12 volts, brew for 45 minutes. If using 27-30
volts, brew for 20 minutes. If the water is turning
color before the brewing time is over, I would suspect
your water is not pure. This doesn't mean you can't
make good, effective CS, but, if the water has some
minerals in it, you will not likely be able to make
clear CS. The CS you have made is perfectly good CS,
but you should ingest more of it than you would need
to if it were clear. Unless the silver you have been
using is not pure, .999% Fine Silver (in which case
you should not ingest one drop of it) having colored
CS does not make it toxic in any way, just a little
less effective (which is why to drink more of it).

If you find that, after brewing your CS for, say, 45
minutes (depending on your voltage), the CS still
turns gold or brown, brew your next batch for 35
minutes and see what happens.

Now that you have silver wire, tell us what happens.
If you have the same coloring experience, you are
probably brewing too long.

Anytime I over-brew, I get colored CS. I use that for
myself and my family. I only sell the clear stuff (the
customers only want clear).

CSQuestions and more questions

2001-11-15 Thread Pamela Maltzman
Hi again, folks:

WRT the DW I was using, it was Arrowhead Distilled
Water (steam distilled). It turned pink and then
purple after I had diluted some of the stronger CS
solution with some more DW (after it had been sitting
in the cupboard for several days). Maybe I'll try
Wal-Mart's brand next time. I'm in Southern
California... I have read that different people on
this list had varying success with Wal-Mart's brand of
DW.

As to timing, the first batch I made I let cook for
about two hours (no starter). The temperature at all
times was room temperature. Our evenings are now down
into the 60-degree Fahrenheit range.

For the later batches, I used some CS as starter. A
couple of batches I let cook for an hour. The last
batch I left to cook for a couple of hours, even
though I had used starter.

Leave out a piece of uncooked chicken untiil it starts stinking. Pour CS on it

The usual amount of 3 to 6 ounces per day does not seem to kill it. When I

I also use it applied externally to stop the itching until it is

CSnew to the list

2001-11-15 Thread Bob Darlene
Hello,
I just joined the list and have TONS of questions!
My name is Darlene and I am just learning about colloidal silver. I have
dabbled in natural health and herbs for some time, and will be pursuing a
degree in natural nutrition as soon as my finances are in order!:)) I was
hoping someone would reccomend a book on CS that would also explain on
making my own. Until then, I wanted to know how one should take CS? Right
now I bought some because I think I am getting a throat infection, and my
doctor is on vacation. I have been on antibiotics so much these past few
months and really do not want to be again. My resistance has been down due
to stress, I lost both my mom and mother-in-law to cancer just a few months
ago, needless to say my immune system has been like a yo-yo! How many parts
per million is good? And can anyone reccomend a dosage for illnes, and for
taking daily, like for my 7 year old, and my dogs?
And what should I look for with stor bought as far as quality? I purchased
mine at a nutrition store where I use to work, and have some knowledge of
there quality processes so I trusted that it would be good, but I don't know
enough about CS to really know. I have many more questions but don't know
where to begin, lol. thanks again

is 99.8 (or .9)--anyway, very pure and comes in a
thick white plastic bottle. As I understand it, we
need to use not less a concentration of dmso than 10%
to be effective against virii. Is this true also for

10% will be ok too. Thanks. pj

Re: CSGot some more questions.

2001-11-15 Thread Ode Coyote

The CS was probably made too fast in too cold an environment and was not
stabilized by proper hydration. It then agglomerated into large particle CS
ranging from amber and violet to reddish.
If you wish to rescue these batches, put a few drops of hydrogen
peroxide in them and wait...but do not use them as starter for the next
batches.

Hi again, folks:

When I made my first bunch of batches of CS, I ended
up with the better part of four quart-size Mason jars
full of it. The last couple of batches were
extra-dark amber.

I put them in a kitchen cupboard, but the cupboard
door was left open to light.

Right now I have about 1-1/2 jars left. Last night I
diluted what I had left with some distilled water.
The CS looked kind of dark pinkish. Today, both jars
have darkened again. The one I haven't yet tasted is
dark amber. The other one, which I have opened
several times to take some out of, looks actually
purple.

Is this stuff okay? Does CS have a long shelf life?
Maybe I should just keep this dark stuff for topical
use... my 12-gauge silver wire arrived the other day
from CC Silver, so I want to try that out. Maybe that
ribbon-shaped stuff I bought from the jewelry supply
place wasn't as pure as they told me it was.

Anyway, thanks in advance for your advice. I really
appreciate your generosity in answering all my
questions.

Any experience using H2O2 or chlorine on evergreen trees or fruit trees for
fungus? I found the second year spraying of my trees did not seem to get rid
of the fungus problem. I had a cherry tree where 3 limbs died, only a couple
limbs left. Cs sprayed twice a week turned it into one of my best trees this
year. I removed the dead branches.

Allergic reaction?

2001-11-15 Thread JB
I'm thinking I may be having an allergic or toxic reaction from my body
wanting to get rid of CS. I used homemade CS in my eye about 2 weeks
ago...when I had a sty forming and it went away within a day, but I
continued the CS for pain several times a day for 3-4 days. I also ate it
thinking I may have staph in my body it could kill too.

I have a lump over my eyebrow (same side) that is getting a little bigger
each day over the last week. There is no redness, no 'pain' when I push on
it. Last couple days I do feel occasional aches or pressure on top of head
or rear of temple. Nice for removing wrinkles, but getting a little strange
looking and a tad worried to know what it is. I did go to the doctor
yesterday, but he didn't know what it is.

If anyone has any clues, please reply...thanks!

I dilute the murky green solution to half water half stevia liquid.

CSTaking another look at side effect studies..... More evidence of probable misquoted studies commonly circulated

2001-11-15 Thread Jason / AVRA
List:

I have often tried to puzzle through referenced studies on the various side
effects of silver use that are often referenced in reports and literature.

Earlier today, I was seeking inspiration on how to program my up-and-coming
silver bot - a net bot being designed to track down, follow and crawl links,
then search through the tens of thousands of references found for interesting
information. While I am still facing a programming brick wall, I found an
interesting document while testing complex search strings. At first, I was
unable to access the document because it was password protected. Not to be
discouraged so easily, with a bit of creative effort ( wholly legal luckily ) I
extracted the document in question.

The document has been compiled by IPCS Inchem - International Program on
Chemistry Safety, apparently with the cooperation of the United Nations
Environment Programme and the World Health Organization.

Since I am uncertain WHY the sub-levels of the site required full authorization
to access the document, I am going to refrain from posting it. However, I will
draw from the extensive citations. This document has gone a LONG way in
clarifying some confusion on where some of the popular referenced studies
have come from, and what types of silver were actually being used to actually
draw conclusions.

I will share interesting notes along the way...

Oyster shells were examined for silver presence. The analysis was conducted by
atomic absorption spectrophotometrically. The conclusion stated that no silver
existed in the hard shell ( below 1ppm ), and yet the soft tissues contained
28-82 (±10-20) ppm (Casarett and Doull, 1975; Windom and Smith, 1972). Very
interesting!

It was silver salts that have been exclusively used to determine what body
systems/organs adsorbed silver, and in which order... Lungs, gastrointestinal
tract, through nasal mucosa, conjunctiva, and skin. It is then stored in the
in the reticulo-endothelial cells of the skin, mucous membranes, liver, spleen,
possibly bone marrow, in basement membranes, especially those of the renal
glomerulus, and presumably in muscles (Ham and Tangue, 1972; Kanai et al.,
1976; Bader, 1966; Anderson, 1966; Voldrich et al., 1975).

All determined exclusively via various silver salts, which at this point were
not identified. It is, however, extremely unlikely that silver chloride would
have been used.

110mAg was administered to rats ( oral intravenous and intraperitoneal routes )
( an isotope? ). No doses given, but the conclusions stated that 90%+ of
silver was not absorbed. Less than 1% retention after one week from the
initial dose was observed in mice, rats, and monkeys (Fnrchner et al., 1968)

It seems that even mild degrees of liver damage considerably impair the
ability of the liver to excrete quite small doses of silver (Petering, 1976).
Unlike lead or mercury there is no evidence that silver is a cumulative poison
(Petering, 1976).

PLEASE NOTE: It is references like THESE that cause so much confusion...
Petering did not use isolated silver... Proteins, salts and silver acetate...

No information was obtained on the biotransformation of silver in the animal
body except that absorbed ionic silver is transformed into metallic while being
deposited in tissues (Petering, 1976).

HERE, it appears, is direct evidence that ionic silver does not necessarily
convert soley to silver chloride in the body, unless we don't trust Peterings
definition of metallic silver. However, after struggling through the document,
it is evident that Petering used silver acetate to do his ionic silver study.
Perhaps somebody more chemically inclined could explain how and why Ian?
Bob?

Numerous enzymes were inhibited in vitro by silver ions. High affinity to
sulfhydryl and histidine imidazole groups was observed. Silver ions compete
with molecular oxygen as hydrogen acceptor, resulting in inhibition of glucose
oxydase (Nakamura and Ogura, 1968). Interesting, but still an in vitro study.

Protargol, a silver-protein complex containing 8% silver inhibited the in vitro
prostaglandin E2 synthesis by bull geminal vesicles even at concentrations of
10-7M (Deby et al., 1973). Interesting, but apparently irrelevant to our
silver.

Silver ion is a very toxic substance when viewed from the standpoint of its
action of an inhibitor of enzymes and as a metabolic inhibitor of lower forms
of life. Biochemically, the silver ion (Ag+) can act as potent enzyme inhibitor
(Chambers et al., 1974). It has been reported (Wagner et al., 1975) that in
vitro administration of silver dramatically decreased liver glutathione
peroxidase in rats fed Se-supplemented diets with or without vitamin E. It
seems therefore that silver acetate exerts its antagonistic effects on Se
(silver induces Se deficiency signs) through an effect on the activity of
biosynthesis of glutathione peroxidase. Much of the biologic

Re: CSHMS BEAGLE

2001-11-15 Thread MARIANO DELISE
I love to tell my successes story.
I had relapsing-remitting MS all of my adult life (58 years), but was
not diagnosed until 12 years ago. I went on Beta-Seron injections as soon
as they went on the market at a cost to my insurance Co of $984. per mo. I
had some numbness that would come and go in my feet, arms and hands. I had
two not real major exacerbations and life was nottoo bad. I could cope.
About four years ago I changed to the chronic progressive form of MS. At
this time I went down hill VERY quickly. I was applying for disability
since I could hardly walk anymore. I was using a cane, but the rate I was
going, I figured I'd be in a wheel chair in a year or so.Every morning I
would wake up and another part of my body did not work.
In desperation I read a book titled How to beat MS (and what your doctor
didn't tell you) by Nadine Wooley. She introduced me to CS. I drink 16 oz
per day (a little all day long) and within 8 weeks I began to feel changes
in my body, but this time I would wake up in the morning and I slowly
started to get feelings back. It was like a reawakening. I went through
periods that I call healing crisis ie my toes ached for about three weeks.
I really didn't know what was going on, but then one morning I woke up and I
could feel the cold tile floor on the bottom of my feet. It had been so
long, that I forgot what that felt like. It was so exciting. Even today 1
1/2 years later I still get excited when I step on the cool tile floor.
I must stress that the process is very slow and very subtle, but it is
an absolute progress.
I kept a very short journal of my progress as I improved and I would be
delighted to share it with any one interested.
I am so very convinced that MS is among Many Many auto immune diseases
that will truly respond to CS.
I would be happy to answer any questions about my miracle cure. Nancy

CSThanks!

2001-11-15 Thread Pamela Maltzman
Hi all:

Thanks for your replies to my questions. It will be a
few more days before I make some more CS... I'm
getting ready to go out of town for most of next week,
then will make some when I get back for sure--with the
new 12-gauge, . silver wire I got from CC Silver.

When I got back today from doing errands, one jar had
precipitate at the bottom, and the liquid was mostly
clear. The other one is dark purplish.

When I first made the batches, two of them were very
light yellow, one was slightly darker, and the last
one was quite dark. They were made at an approximate
room temperature between 60 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit.

Next time I won't cook it so long. Last time, I had
intentionally cooked it past the time when gray swirls
appeared in the water. I will not use this dark CS
for starter, but will keep it for topical use.

Thanks a bunch! You folks are great!

fellow. But to be accepted by mainstream dosnt it seem necessary to come up
with some more concrete experiments. I dont think it is enough to say that
by taking CS you were able to cure such and such because as someone pointed
out we are complex creatures and any number of things could have caused a
cure or remision. It may be that CS activates some other immune response,
rather being the active compound in the cure. Dosnt this sort of thing
bother you all. That is the unknowing? Anyhow thanks again and if anyone has
got some more experiments i would be pleased to hear.

Take care all
damian

One of the quickest tests is to put it under your arms as a deoderant. Any
odor should stop within a couple of seconds.

Leave out a piece of uncooked chicken untiil it starts stinking. Pour CS on
it
and note the immediate termination of the odor. We use it in our garbage
disposal when it starts smelling.
