Pat,
Coconut water and milk are the same and is the fluid filling the coconut. the
best are the green ones we have in Florida. Once it turns slightly yellow it
is ripe and sweet and the meat is tender. If you can't find a good coconut go
to health food store and get Vita Coco pure coconut water. I was recently on a
cruise and every Carribean island we stopped at I got my coconut treat. If
you ice them before it's even better on a hot day and enjoying it in a hammock
is the best!

Re: CSRe: Gatorade? Coconut Water Cans.

2008-03-16 Thread Rowena
Well, I was a bit puzzled, as the top looked dull like aluminium, but the sides
were very firm. But I couldn't see why they would put an aluminium top on a
steel can.

Anyway, I remembered that a fridge magnet would be enough to test it with and -
surprise - the top is aluminium, the sides are steel and the bottom is
aluminium - so everybody was correct, in a way.

I don't see any mention of sulphur dioxide on these cans, but the sugar is
certainly regrettable, and I only just noticed that there is in any case only
50% coconut water, and the rest is water, pulp and sugar. I'm not sure I want
to pay to transport water all the way from Thailand.

Nothing beats fresh, does it? You know what this means? With the Australian
winter approaching, I may be forced to miss the coldest weeks, trek all the way
to the absolute other corner of Australia, Queensland, Mission Beach, (one of
the few places where rainforest meets the reef) to be near to where the
coconuts grow, in a place that just happens to be warm if not hot, and I might
even have to check in at a Youth Hostel or Backpackers for a month or so to get
fresh coconuts every day and do my coconut cure the budget way! Misery and
suffering, just because I can't buy 100% fresh coconut juice in a glass bottle!

According to http://www.cocotap.com/nutrition.htm the juice/milk nomenclature
is as follows: Coconut water, also called coconut juice, is the liquid found
inside a fresh coconut. Contrary to popular belief, this liquid is not the same
as coconut milk. Coconut water is in a sense a tree sap. It is a relatively
clear liquid that looks more like water than it does milk.

Coconut milk is thick and white, processed from the flesh, and coconut cream is
the same but with lower water content.

Bruce Fife said:
Coconut water has been a popular beverage in the tropics for generations and it
wasn't long before physicians began experimenting with it for oral rehydration.
They found that it was just as effective orally as it was intravenously in
combating dehydration. Due to coconut water's chemical composition it is
absorbed through the intestinal wall quicker than plain water, bringing about a
faster recovery and eliminating the need for IV rehydration therapy.

Test it with a magnet! Steel is magnetic!
  Aluminum is not magnetic!...

I guess it depends on what the cause is. A diet that is deficient in
calcium can cause siezures, which will go away when the dog has been
put back on a good diet. This happened to my dog, as when I rescued her
I didn't have any dog food, so I fed her my food. After a few days she
started having some mild fits. They went away after I got some proper
dog food. Another dog I had got epilepsy after chewing on an electric
cord and getting a severe shock. Not much helped him.

Interesting indeed.

This may be why some alternative doctors are saying not to eat specific fruits.

Seems it is grapes and oranges. Two of my favorite, when I can
get good one.

Plus, wild grapes and muscadines are super delicious.

I don't think this is to say a small amount will hurt a reasonable healthy
person, if one exists.

I still say, of all the bogus sweetners, white sugar may not be the worst.
( a little, not the amount eaten by most Americans )

Honey and molasses are good foods also, ... small amount with peanut
butter.

I eat very little of both, but like them available when I want to nibble
some peanut butter.
I eat about a pint of peanut butter per week, and mix some coconut oil with
it also.

Hi Wayne.
From reading your posts through the years, you seem like a reasonably
healthy fellow. I agree with you that a moderate use of natural sweeteners
won't hurt healthy people. The problem is, many folks aren't healthy and
can't tolerate even those sweeteners touted as natural or healthy. Many
of them -- including powdered fructose -- are very UNhealthy.

I will have more information on this posted on my website in a few months.
I'm in the middle of writing something that should clarify this
considerably.

Interesting indeed.

This may be why some alternative doctors are saying not to eat specific
fruits.

Honey and molasses are good foods also, ... small amount with peanut
butter.

Re: CSCoconut

2008-03-16 Thread Carlos Prez

Hello,

Actually, coconut water is the liquid inside the coconut, and milk is a
milk looking/oily liquid obtained by blending the pulp or meat that forms
the rest of the inside of the coconut, when it is tender. When this pulp is
dry, it is usually grated or passed through a food processor, then pressed
through sieve or cheese cloth in order to extract the milk.

When the pulp is not totally tender and not dry either, it is normally
blended with some of the coconut water.

Actually, the pure milk is used in many recipes in countries where
coconuts grow, for different foods and also deserts.

Any combination of coconut water and tender, firm or dry pulp, in any
proportions, is plainly delicious.

Pat,
Coconut water and milk are the same and is the fluid filling the coconut.
the
best are the green ones we have in Florida. Once it turns slightly yellow
it
is ripe and sweet and the meat is tender. If you can't find a good coconut
go
to health food store and get Vita Coco pure coconut water. I was recently
on a

cruise and every Carribean island we stopped at I got my coconut treat. If
you ice them before it's even better on a hot day and enjoying it in a
hammock

is the best!

Perhaps it depends on what it is being compared to. Though white sugar
is demonized practically everywhere, I myself consider it much less
harmful than high fructose corn syrup, or corn syrup, or fructose. So I
guess I'm agreeing with practically everyone for once.

CScataracts

2008-03-16 Thread Shirley Reed
My husband, who has arthritis, has been taking a pretty high dose of
prednisone for several months. He is developing cataracts, which is an
expected effect at his dose. There is a product called Can-C that claims to
remove cataracts. Does anyone know if this product works? Does anyone know
of anything that does? The husband takes Celebrex and Prednisone which is
scary, but his pain was so great that he has decided to use the drugs rather
than suffer so much anymore, even if it means death. Having had some
experience with excessive pain myself, I completely understand why he has
made that choice, and he is currently pain free and trying to reduce the
Prednisone. But the Dr. has recommended methotrexate for help getting the
Prednisone down and that depresses white blood cell activity so that doesn't
sound good. Iodine at high doses, Lugol's 5% at 8 or 9 drops per day has
helped with pain but not enough. Any ideas appreciated.tiapj He
is currently taking all the supplements recommended for cataracts.

awful bleeding..look like I have taken a beating at times..and gettting really
great results..hope this all helps some.

Re: CScataracts

2008-03-16 Thread Dianne France
Shirley

I understand about the pain your husband is in with the arthritis. I also was
on Celebrex 200 and Vicadin 750 twice daily for the pain along with many other
drugs and muscle relaxers they thought I needed for arthritis and Fibromyalgia.
I also was having to see a cardiologist for the severe chest pains which I
found out later the Celebrex was causing. From all the prescriptions they had
me on (15) I really messed myself up and probably my liver. I was homebound
and very unhappy. I didn't want to live that way either.

A girlfriend was trying to help me with IBS (side effect of fibromyalgia) and I
started rebuilding my digestive track with kombucha and kefir. It was amazing
what being able to digest your food does for you. After I started there I
decided to get myself off everything else and start a more organic lifestyle.
I quit the Celebrex and that was quite painful. I also quit the Vicadin as it
was effecting my personality and felt I was becoming addicted. I was on a
Fibromyalgia study with a specialist and once done with the study stopped all
of those meds. Slowly I felt better but the pain was still difficult.

I think it was Wayne or Marshall that mentioned a protocol for arthritis. I
hadn't heard of that before. I totally put my faith in doctors but with them
was going downhill. I started reading the posts and web referrals and started
with cs to kill out pathogens if that was what was causing the body reactions.
I also started CMO and other supplements and it has helped my knees so much.
I'm not sure I am using the right brand of CMO because my hands aren't better
but I'm walking again.

There are more supplements I will be adding and feel I will continue to
improve. There are some really knowledgeable people on this site that can
advise him but your husband is going to have to decide to turn things around
for himself. The cataracts are the least of his worries in my opinion because
the drugs he is on are so very hard on the body. My husband has a favorite
saying about when you are A_s deep in alligators it is sometimes hard to
remember your purpose was to drain the swamp. It is a personal decision that
is sometimes very hard to make.

I use a capsule and open up and pour about 1/3 of it on to the food and mix
the food, since it is a little bitter. Of course, I also pour some garlic
powder and virgin olive oil on it too, for other reasons. This is for my
tiny 12 lb dog. For my 50 lb dog I use 1/2 or more of the capsule. This
is their maintenance dosage. I surrogate muscle test, so your dog may need
more or less. Black walnut is filled with minerals and helps balance
the thyroid, too.

Fw: CSBad Sugars, fructose, and Delicious Date

2008-03-16 Thread Rowena
I used brown/raw/demerara sugar most of my life, but agree that even white
sugar would have to be less harmful than the chemical alternatives. Learn to
live with less. My husband went from five or six sugars in coffee to none at
all, and now would hate to have sugar in coffee. I put honey in any kind of
tea, but don't like it in coffee. As I don't drink much anyway, it probably
doesn't matter if I put in a little bit of sugar, though I have been using
Xylitol until recently. But I have recently bought in a variety of Date syrups
and molasses to try out, and find I like them in both coffee and cocoa. So
full of natural minerals etc. presumably minimally processed, and great on
toast or bread. The first kind I bought came in a tin, and I would actually
exclaim out loud in pleasure at the taste. This last lot came in plastic
bottles and buckets and jars, with each slightly different in taste and
texture. But I am sold on the goodness content, and plan to persevere.

Palm sugar is a bit of a nuisance coming in such a large, hard form, but I did
wonder about diluting it down into a syrup for quick use when needed. Maybe
one day.
