Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playing cue files with LMS

2019-08-22 Thread carlmart

OK, let's see if I can sum up what were the problems I had, which I
hadn't and which were solved.

1) Problem playing large wav or flac files. This was my greatest
concern, because I could open the file and see the tracks inside with
LMS, but couldn't play them. Problem solved.

2) Problem using cue to play anything. After being allowed to play large
wav files, I compromised that I could live without the cues, even I
still would like to be able to use them. Problem not solved.

3) Problems with single wav or flac track files. Never had any, they
were the only files that always played fine.

I put a Playlist folder in my c:, as was adviced.

Still use the c:\Musica as my sole folder for audio. For me it keeps
things simple, in one place and easy to find.

That \Musica folder has subfolders organized alphabetically by artist or
other categories, which then hold the proper albums.

Some albums have their own sufolders. But I have no problem getting to
them, either with LMS or Jivelite on PCP.

In practical terms, once I get to the album and open it, I can play the
tracks straight away in the absolute majority of them.

Now, if anyone tells me that a different organization will allow me to
use cue files, I may try it. But default Windows folders with Users >,,,
I prefer not to use. They put too many things there that would be
confusing when using Jivelite-PCP

I'm not interested in LMS to open any video folder or subfolder, so I
deleted them from LMS media folders.

To all of you, thank you for trying to help, and please excuse my
impatience or plain ignorance, or my impatience due to plain ignorance.

The task of this project was to have a very good audio managing system,
that I could control in my listening room with plain remote controls (no
cell phones or tablets).

It was very important that this system could play all type of files, and
LMS/PCP does.

When I get to install my Linux server system I will come back to this
forum to get LMS to work with the Linux server. Perhaps we can get the
cue files to work.

In the meantime, a big thanks again!

In spite of my confusion and efforts to understand the logic of how
these things work, I must say I am very pleased that most of the
problems I had have been solved.

So here goes a big thanks for what you already helped me achieve.

Perhaps I may get or not to use the cue file as I was used to with VLC,
but there seems to be a working alternative to that, which is clicking
in All musics, which starts playing the whole album.

Now another question about LMS, and Jivelite too: is there a control
button to advance to the following track and go back to the track
before? Apparently not, just asking.

OK, sorry, I hadn't understood that db files were data base files.

But I still don't get this rescan sequence to clear library and restart
everything, and how it relates to scanner log, what it means.

If I do that I clear all the album list in LMS, and I have to rescan the
Media Folder (c:\musica) to get them back. What is it I am missing?

I had shown it to you what happened when doing this:

Rescan Media Library:
- choose: Clear library and rescan everything
- click on Rescan (Ler Directoria)

Click on "Scanning - View Progress"

Look at the albums: they are zeroed.

To get them back I have to rescan c:\musica.

Or is that a step that you are not mentioning?

This step makes all the albums disappear. I have to click again on the
scan button up above, to the right of c:\musica to find the albums back.

Why is that?

They are not.

That's an automatic assignment that LMS did, which I didn't find
important to correct. Should I?

My video folders are on other HDDs, and I do not have a picture folder.

Should I delete those on LMS?

Of course I followed your instructions and all the instructions

This made me lose all my albums again!

I had to rescan things again, as shown on the file with the red arrow to

Adding \playlists is not working. It's not accepted by LMS. That would
only work if I add it on the original c:\musica folder, which I don't

OK, some improvements. What caused them is for you to explain, if
possible.

Now LMS opens the wav file in tracks, and everyone plays fine.

The cue file is not shown, but it seems as if the album photo is acting
as the cue. Is it?

I don't know if I'm being clear.

In all I think the advance was HUGE.

Now, THIS seems very important.

For two reasons:

1) There might be someone that can adapt this to LMS on Windows.

2) In my final system I will have to install LMS on the server computer,
which will be running on Linux. So the cue controls might be back. Am I
right?

OK. I implemented the language change. It seems a move in the right
direction, even if not complete yet.

What did change is that now I can play the large wav files, which I
couldn't before. A great thing.

The cue command refuses to work. Says: empty.

The other thing that changed is that the names of tracks inside the WAV
file do not show. Of course that is less of problem than not playing the
file at all.

The cue file refuses to work, and when trying to use to play separate
tracks the message you get is: Error: no items found on playlist.

Separate tracks continue to play as they did before.

Can anyone tell me what does affect the apparent problem with sox?

AFAIK only English language countries use dot and comma different from
the rest of European countries.

Comma (,) for decimals.

Dot (.) for thousands or millions.

Yes, I'm using Windows 7 on the computer where LMS was installed.

How do I know what security s/w this one is running and if it's
affecting LMS?

I could try two things: boot the PC using Linux and install LMS on it;
or boot this PC with Windows 10, also installing LMS on it.

The order of things I was planning, in order to make the audio manager,
based on the Raspberry Pi 3B+, and the video manager, based on the
Odroid C2 or a Raspberry Pi 4, was to make the audio & video managers
work with Windows first, and then assemble the other PC that would be
the Linux server.

I never mentioned a Windows product for the media server, just a more
powerful computer. The software would be Linux, not Windows.

My intention is to run high definition video files from this server, and
to start with my problem is with the HDD interface, that can't be SATA
to USB, which would the option with a Raspberry or and Odroid.

What would be the point of that?

I would never use the Rasberry as a server.

My server for now is my PC, but I will assemble another one, that I
already have the parts of, with an Asus mobo and Intel CPU, with proper
power supply for the 3.5" SATA HDDs. Server program will be Linux.

But testing to solve this present problem may be worth trying.

Yes, I'm a new LMS user, and certainly not used to work with Linux and
its interface with LMS or Windows.

I think I provided some hints when I downloaded the file that was sent
for me to download, and I clearly specified that the cue file included
didn't work on my LMS setup. This might be quite similar.

Apparently my LMS installation and my PCP installation is having some
problems, particularly with cue files, and also opening large wav files
controlled by cue.

Wouldn't that hint what might be happening?

I'm sorry. My upload connection is absolutely awful.

The neighborhood I live in Rio de Janeiro, in spite of being classy and

optics.

I've tried about 10 times to upload the files, and it stops after less
than 10% upload. That was the reason I I said it would be difficult.

I edited a new cue, basing on the original text from another album.

This time I left just one track.

This cue file worked fine with VLC, which is the only way I have to test
cue files.

Then I zipped the cue and the wav file, ending up with a 37.8MB file
which I'm trying to upload and can't. It probably exceed the maximum
size allowed.

What other option do I have to upload a wav+cue files complete for you

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playing cue files with LMS

2019-08-18 Thread carlmart

Yes, the program is playing audio, and quite well. That's why I keep
insisting on this matter.

The only things that do not work, for some reason I can't yet
understand, are the cue commands and the large wav files.

The large files should be opened by the cue command to play the tracks.
So I do not have access to those tracks as things are now.

The cue command should also command the play of separate tracks,
independent ones, and it does not do that. Those tracks are the ones I
can play now by clicking directly on them.

So it's two problems, which I think I explained:

1) The cue command, which should work with separate wav tracks and to
play the tracks inside a large wav file

2) The large wav files with tracks inside them, which LMS or PCP refuses
to play.

Do those logs show why this is happening? Why that connection between
LMS and player is not working for that?

No, the don't play. Same problem message.

Just for the sake of it. I did try this same procedure on another album
with same type of cue and wav, with similar no play results.

So it doesn't seem to be a question of the album. And I keep wondering

But I am using jivelite on the Raspberry!!!

It's the main reason why I got interested in PCP and I am insisting on

I am not interested on all other systems that use WEB interface, and
control the player through a cell phone or tablet.

All things I'm trying on the WENB interface I then go check them on the

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Playing cue files with LMS

2019-08-17 Thread carlmart

The problem is how LMS works with cue files.

What explanation then for the test I was proposed, where I download a
cue file and a wav file.

The cue file opens the wav file perfectly in VLC, but it doesn't open it
in LMS.

What other proof do you need that something in LMS is not negotiating
things as they should to play the file using cue?

No problem in doing another scan. Results will be the same.

Just looked for another album with a large wav file and a cue file.
Exactly the same results.

Who says I can not see the individual track names with LMS? What I can't
is play them. Either clicking on them, where I get the message: Can't
open the file for... Neither clicking in the cue file.

No one else in this topic has an album, with a wav such as I described
with several tracks inside and a cue file to open them, that works in
LMS?

Not practical. The file I'm using as an example now, by Al Di Meola, has
390MB.

Tested the files.

Wave file played alright.

Cue file did nothing.

The wave file playing doesn't prove much, as I have a lot of albums with
separate wav tracks and a cue file. With LMS the files play fine, but
the cue file controls nothing and does nothing.

When the wave file is large and contains the tracks that the cue file
should separate, LMS refuse to play the wave.

I can't see how the wav file can be bad, as I have a lots of them, and
this happened with several with LMS, not just this file. I did test
that.

What purpose would it serve converting wav files to MP3, as I never
listen or care for MP3 files. WAV or Flac are the lowest resolution I
accept.

As bpa said quite well: the cue file may be the issue. Can we
concentrate just on LMS and cue files?

It was suggested to me, on the PCP topic, to do the following to make
the cue files work:

- within the WAV section: change PCM from "Native" to "Disabled" (you
could also disable the mp3 option, just to make sure)
- leave WAV -> FLAC as "flac/sox" (the sox is ONLY used if resampling is
required)

That is what I did. Nothing changed with the cue files or anything I
perceived.

Yes to both questions. It's not one album, it's the same for all wav

I managed to find the log files in a different way. What should I look

Nobody told me that until now, explicitly, that I could not play
anything by clicking on the cue file.

LMS scans the album, shows me tracks inside the cue file on those large
wav files, but it doesn't play them That is the problem.

I just want to play the tracks, I do not need to do it through the cue
file. Whatever way works for me.

But LMS refuses to play those large wav files with the tracks inside.

It's not a problem with the files, it's a problem on how LMS deals with
those files.

I can only play the tracks when they come as separate ones, no matter if
there's a cue sheet or not. That I can work with.

When the wav file has all the tracks inside I can't play it.

Why can't we concentrate on the cue file and why LMS doesn't respond to

It seems as if cue files are not supported by LMS. Is that so?

How can I do to play my music files that need a cue file to run?

When I press on the cue file I get an "Empty" result.

Several of my wav files have been ripped as one large wav file, with all

I am trying to run it with PCP, but I can't . Folks at the PCP forum
here couldn't help me with that.

The cue file worked always fine with VLC, but I wonder why can't with

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Installing PiCorePlayer & Squeebox

2019-08-16 Thread carlmart

Made the change as instructed.

It continues to appear the word "empty" when I press on the "cue" file.

The problem is with the undivided, one piece wav files, where all the
musics are one after the other.

Nothing happens if I press the cue file, neither if it opens the music
files list. It's not able to open the files.

I can't believe anyone using PCP is not using cue files.

I don't get it.

This question with the cue files is related to PCP or LMS?

Is there some place I can go place this question, if it's not related
with PCP?

Can you please load here just one sample cue that works alright with
PCP.

All my cues work fine with VLC, for instance, but not with PCP.

Hooray! Complete success.

DSD playing with great quality.

DAC shows 352.2KHz oversampling, and music plays great.

Thanks a lot!

Now the next question, more current than DSD files certainly. How do I
do to play cue commands?

It is not through the Control Panel that I have installed.

OK, I'm back. So first things first.

Can someone tell me what is happening with my cue files that do not work
on my PCP? What should I do to make them work?

Second, what about DSD files? Is there a plugin I have to use? Are there
instructions on how to install it and use it?

My Topping D50 DAC can deal with DSD files with no conversion to PCM, so
I hope the PCP handling of DSD files does not involve any conversion.

No, I haven't installed the DSDplay plug in yet.

I updated the LMS version quite quickly, as I thought many of the things
I needed might be included.

Yes, Squeezelite is the software running here with PCP.

So now I have to make LMS read the file and run the stream.

Over here is very late, and I won't be able to work back on this until
Monday.

So I wish all a happy week end, and see you next Monday!

Perhaps I'd need to say that I was quite pleased with the audio quality

My questions about how to handle DSD files and cue sheets are because I
would like to start using it.

Yes, Paul. The cue file is on the same location as the audio file.

OK, but why won't PCP play the large audio file anyway, without the
pauses between music themes?

It seems PCP doesn't play DSD files, at least those I tried. Is that so?

It seems PCP doesn't read or can use cue files, from CDs you ripped on
one large file, with a cue.

Why won't it read the large file anyway, in flac or wav? Any audio
program does.

Please let's refer to the image I put up above, captured from what seems
to be an LMS IP address.

How would you call those? Aren't they folders, which they open albums
where music themes are?

Those are the ones I want to order in a different way, so I can access
them from the PCP following my criteria.

Where are they? Who made those folders? They contain album files, so
they are folders indeed.

Where is "Browse Music Folder" so I can browse with it?

Re: [SlimDevices: SqueezeCenter] Organizing folders in Logitech Media Server

2019-08-09 Thread carlmart

Something did create all those folders on LMS and organized the folders
and records in a certain way. I did not.

If it was not LMS, what program did that?

I assume it has to be stored in some temp file, or will it disappear
when I turn my PC off or reboot Firefox.

Where are those folders located? Can I rearrange them in a different
way?

The only thing I did, on the LMS setup, was to tell it where my Music
folder was. Inside it, the only organization I did was by artist. Inside
it other artist folder there were subfolder, the end folders being the
albums, with the themes inside.

I would like to keep that same arrangement, not the one I see on PCP
now.

Well, someone did. I did not.

It's on my LMS web page, so

It took out artists names, for instance, that were inside separate
folders, and organized them alphabetically in an "All artists" folder,
something I would never do.

And that's just an example.

I would prefer to do my own organization, and certainly eliminate the
ones I don't need.
