Updating bookmarks

2009-06-29 Thread n...@home

I have Vista and SeaMonkey 1.1.17.

Over the years, I have built up a collection of bookmarks organized by
subject, which works for me, but makes it a bit difficult to find a
specific bookmark by name, rather than by subject. I didn't bother with
updating them, mostly because when I established one, there was no
apparent way to set it up to update.

Recently, when I manage a bookmark, I set it up to update late at night
on a given day. Alas, the options to mark the icon when there is an
update do not appear to work, or at least I cannot find any of these
markings. Now I set them to notify me, but if I am not online when the
check is run, I get no notice.

Recently I got a laptop and as I travel a lot, I am often online when
the update runs, and I get a slew of notices, but I can't find a way to
OK them and have the bookmark updated, so I make a bookmark of the new
site, but not knowing where I put the original bookmark, I end up with
extras.

I am wondering if there is a security reason that I would not want an
old bookmark updated automatically, and if not, what would be the best
way to have the bookmark automatically updated without interrupting my
browsing, possibly annotating the bookmark that it was updated from XX
on this date.

So what is the most efficient way to keep bookmarks updated?

I don't believe that auto-notification ability was built into SM1,

This is wrong. Weekly and monthly checks are available:
http://img41.imageshack.us/img41/4042/sm1updates.png

with the majority of work now going into SM2, I don't believe the
auto-download will ever make it into SM1

This is right. SM1 only leads to the Download page and one has to
download the new version manually. But as stated above, the notification
is there and it leads directly to the corresponding Seamonkey website. :-)

Martin

Ohh!! It did have the notification capability!! My mistake.

Is it possible to unselect the selected message?

2009-06-29 Thread Hana Skoumalova

Hello,

I am using SM 1.1.14 and 1.1.17, and in the mail preferences, I have
checked the option Remember the last selected message. Sometimes I
select a message in Junk folder by mistake and it is impossible to
unselect it again. Whenever I open the Junk folder I get that selected
message displayed, which is annoying: I use the three pane view and if
no message in Junk folder is selected I can view the unread messages
immediatly. When a message is selected, I have to switch to two-pane
view or to move the scrollbar to be able to see headers of the new
messages. Is there a way to unselect the selected message?

Thanks,

Of course you're right, but I'm running it on two of three machines
already, there's only one SM1.1.x left for me. ;-)
For an alpha it's really stable and one gets used to some comfortable
things really fast. If you'd like to have a try, feel free to grab your
copy: http://www.seamonkey-project.org/releases/seamonkey2.0a3/

It can be used parallel to the old Seamonkey without any harm.

Can not get new mail on primary profile

2009-06-29 Thread Smiles

Good day Gentlemen

I am using 1.1.17 on XP and in the mail window after reading my mail on
two or three of my accounts I noticed a line underline half of the
account name and could not download emails on my primary account.

So I uninstalled and reinstalled it and there was no line but when I
start seamonkey it checks for mail with out asking for password and the
same on each account

I can deselect check on start up and when I ask for mail it checks again
without asking for password

Any clue what is wrong?

Thanks but that site does not tell me how to make J6-U14 work with
SeaMonkey 1.1.17

The J6-U14's refusal to work is pissing me off so much I feel like
cursing god.

I first completely removed Java from my system by uninstalling it in
the Windows control panel.

I then installed J6-U14 again. Still, it stubbornly refuses to work
with SeaMonkey.

Assuming the following with brutally force J6-U14 to work with
SeaMonkey...

... Just how do I do the following:

Set up the association for Java Web start.
View Preferences = helper Applications = new/edit =
Mime Type: application/x-java-jnlp-file
Description: Java Web Start
Extension: jnlp
Open using the default application

Sorry if my post is inappropriate, I'm just very upset right now
because even after doing all I can do J6-U14 is still bullying me.

In the SeaMonkey browswer I've gone to edit - preferences - advanced
and I have the enable Java box checked.

I still keep getting the same old Click here to go the plugin
message whenever I visit a site that uses Java. I wish I could bring
J6-U14 into living existence and burn it alive eternally. If J6-U14
were a living thing with tactile sensations, I'd do exactly that to it.
