SeaMonkey 2.0 uses the same download backend as Firefox 3.5.

I'm afraid I don't get the point even after reading

Can someone summarize that in easy words? What are they planning to do

be repected? And will there be a GUI for configuration?
I don't get it and that thing is already resolved fixed.

browser.download.manager.alertOnEXEOpen set to false works for me. It
removes the stupid security tag on exe and zip extensions, the ones I
have tested with.

Your profile is always on C: if you didn't move it, no matter where you
put Seamonkey as application.
Copy your profile to another drive and use the profile manager to guide
SM to this new directory (by creating a new profile).
Don't know where your profile is?

Thanks, looks like I have some reading to do.

Dale

The method given by Martin is a safe way of moving your entire profile
onto another drive, but.

Alternatively, Dale, SeaMonkey thinks it's profile is still on the C:\
drive because it's location is stored in it's prefs.js file!

In a Browser, type about:config (without the quotes), read the warning
and if you're happy press enter. The screen will fill with some of your
configuration settings. In the filter line type mail.root (without the
quotes) and you should see where SeaMonkey expects your mail profile to be.

If you are feeling game (maybe close SeaMonkey completely and make a
copy of pref.js first), double click on the line that applies to your
profile and, if you're happy, change it to reflect where you have moved
the profile to.

I agree with this.

Personally, I use Seamonkey for newsgroups, but not for email, so don't
want it handling mailto: even though I want the mail/news support installed.

My wife strongly dislikes Firefox's user interface and uses Seamonkey
with only the browser installed. In her case, having mail/news installed
will add a few insignificant MB to the install, but won't otherwise
affect her - unless it takes over mail functions that 1.x doesn't.

I cannot reproduce this under old Firefox v2.0.0.20 and using Firefox

Roughly one week after the final release candidate goes public - if no
road blockers are found in RC2, our plan is to convert those straight to
the release for about October 27, which happens to be in parallel with
the Firefox 3.5.4 security update that ships the same Gecko version.

Re: SM RC2 Build 3 Win location

Robert, the latest SM RC2 Build 3 that is the Build we need to be Windows
testing, that is the 13MB file at:

Index of
/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.0rc2-candidates/build3/update/win32/en-US

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.0rc2-candidates/build3/win32/en-US/SeaMonkey%20Setup%202.0%20RC%202.exe

??

Just making sure, as at this time, I see a file dated Oct 17th:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.0rc2-candidates/build3/win32/en-US/SeaMonkey%20Setup%202.0%20RC%202.exe

and then the above one dated Oct 17th:

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/nightly/2.0rc2-candidates/build3/update/win32/en-US/seamonkey-2.0rc2.complete.mar

so I will wait a while, then go for the latest and largest Win file.

Not SURE what the .mar file suffix means -- UNLESS it means that the server is
currently updating (will wait a while to be sure), but I will sort that out.

Preferences are available from the SeaMonkey preferences window, that
