Click-to-play feature (introduced in 2.11b1) mechanism

2012-06-18 Thread Kertesz Laszlo
Hello,

The click-to-play feature introduced in 2.11 seems to work all or
nothing - i mean if there are multiple plugin instances on a page,
clicking on one of them starts all from that page.

Is this the intended way of working? Because its kinda annoying to have
all those flash banners pop up and start running, consuming cpu if, say,
i want to watch only 1 video or something from a page that contains
multiple flash and other plugin elements.

Or it will be refined to the point to work like it does in Opera/Chrome
(as it should, actually), i.e. if there are multiple instances, only the
clicked one will activate?

Problem doing FTP Speed Test on SM 2.10.1

2012-06-18 Thread Desiree
I've been doing this Test64 speed test (64MB FTP download) since I got
broadband in 2001. I suddenly can't do it on the latest SM. I get a 403
Forbidden to access test on this server error instead of getting a download
box. I can do it just fine on SM 2.6.1. Both are running on XP Pro. I also
have no problems getting a download box on Fx 10 Enterprise or on the
current Opera browser.

What could be the problem on SeaMonkey 2.10.1? Thanks.

Hmmm...that's interesting. I get the same 403 Forbidden using both
ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test64 and ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64. ON
SM 2.6.1, if I try the ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/pub/test64, I get an alert
message saying this file does not exist. That indicates SM contacted the
server and got a correct response, but on SM 2.10.1 it gets the 403
Forbidden response instead. (The link with pub in it was dropped years ago
I think I recall. I use the first link but the second one was mentioned in
the old dslr thread (see below) and so I tried it too just now.

OOL is not my ISP but the test is available on the dslreports.com OOL forum
for anyone to use and Google lists other forums that give the llink to it. I
found this old thread: http://www.dslreports.com/forum/remark,9646984. It
suggests for that user that his anon password was messed up. Could this
latest SM version be mangling the anon password?

BTW, this is a clean install of SM 2.10.1. It is not installed on top of an
older version. I didn't think I'd like it (that is why I have still have
2.6 on the host computer) but I really do like it!

My other post where I said it worked for me crossed with this one of
yours so ignore where I said post the exact url you were using. We
are using the same one and I am also not a OOL subscriber. I doubt
that it is a problem with the anonymous password because that site
does not require one and seems to accept anything (or none). And
unless you have changed advanced.mailftp from its default of false in
about:config SeaMonkey will send mozi...@example.com for a password
which it accepts.

What the heck were you storing *need* emails in your trash folder for??
Trash is *meant* to be thrown out, and it's possible this *may* have
happened to you, however...

When you put an email in Trash, it is not really deleted, it is meerly
marked for removal. To possibly recover your needed email, have a look
at Edit-Mail Newsgroup Account Settings and select Server Settings
for your email account. Have a look at the Local directory location.

Now close the preferences screen, completely close SeaMonkey, open a
simple word processor like Notepad or Wordpad, and open the Inbox folder
at the Local directory location and look through it to find the e-mail
that you are interested in and then Copy and Paste it and it's
attachment into another word processor screen.

Hope this helps.

This will change in SM 2.12:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=756025

Since this enhancement semi-depends on core (Toolkit) changes to
localization which only landed for Mozilla platform version 15 (which SM
2.12 is based on), I thought we better not backport the change to SM 2.11.

Jim Taylor wrote:

Question: if you were me, would you format it as NTFS? Or just leave

Good question, and I don't know the answer. Theoretically if you format NTFS
and retest and performance is bad you can use the SD Formatter from the SD
Association ( https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_3/ ) to format it back
to Fat32 for optimal performance, but I have never done it and don't know that
it would get it back to the same performance it has now. It might be worth
using it to format the poor performing one back to Fat32 and retest to see if it
makes a difference. That might give you a hint what you want to do with the new
one.

Thanks, but I decided just to stick with FAT32. SeaMonkey is working much better
with the profile on the new card.

Ditto for me as well. One day, I will dump it. My extensions, plugins,

Some users cannot migrate past 2.0.xx because of the CPU. Debian's

MyYahoo problem

2012-06-18 Thread Tom S.
I have http://my.yahoo.com open as one of my home pages, and it
was set to be already signed in and not have any problem with
loading it. Since the latest couple of SeaMonkey updates (now on
2.10.1 w/Windows XP Pro SP3), I've been getting this small popup
message box stating: We noticed you may have signed in or signed
out in another window. Click OK to reload your page.

This will always occur after starting SM and the Yahoo page. It
will do this even if I run SM in Safe Mode (no extensions). Can
anything be done to fix this so it works the way it used to,
besides going back to an earlier version of SM?
