Getting rid of some graphical interface elements

2014-09-04 Thread Dominik Vogt
[Currently using version seamonkey-2.17.1]

In the attempt to maximize space for website information (size of
the urlbar and the tabs), I'd like to get rid of a number of
UI elements that are useless to me (see attached image):

Toolbar:

 - The Button to minimize the toolbar.
 - The dropdown menus behind the back and forward buttons
   (The same list is already in the Go menu, I don't need the
   information in three places).
 - All the icons in the urlbar (link button, bookmark button,
   rss feed button).
   (I never use any of them.)
 - The dropdown menu behind the urlbar.
   (I don't use it; tab-completion is good enough for me.)
 - The Help menu entry.
   (There's nothing in that menu that I'd ever use. As an
   alternatively it would help a lot if I could change the menu
   names to something shorter.)

Tab bar:

 - The new tab button.
   (When I want a new tab, I press ctrl-t.)
 - That green thing at the beginning of each tab that does not
   seem to do anything but eat up space.
 - The dropdown menu at the end of the tab bar.
   (To switch tabs I hit ctrl-tab or ctrl.shift-tab.)

Any help is welcome.  :-)

Ciao

Dominik ^_^  ^_^

Hi... Questions...

2014-09-04 Thread Ed - KB8QEU

*Hi

I'm Ed in Beckley, West Virginia.

I've noticed that when there is a table in an e-mail that there no total
table control/edit functionality like in Page Edit Mode. Can that be
addresses?

Like my tag lines below. They are in a table. I can not edit the table
without copy the whole thing, open up compose, paste it in it and edit
it there.

It would be logical to have full html function in mail as is in
edit/compose.

I love SeaMonkey for it is like NetScape. I hate IE!!! All my sites are
written using SeaMonkey.

Thanks for at least reading this e-mail.*

I have recently had Seamonkey update to version 2.25 on several
computers. About that time I started having a problem opening mail
received by my Yahoo mail account. I can log in, go to mail, however
when I try to open a received e-mail, it will not open. The operating
system on these computers is Windows-XP, and I have had no problems for
the last several years using this combination.

Any insight into the problem would be greatly appreciated.

just a suggestion

2014-09-04 Thread Howard Philipson

Hi
i am not a computer buff, but just upgraded SeaMonkey to the latest
version.

My only suggestion is that the program add an option to increase or decrease
the size of the fonts ( letters, numbers) somewhere where it easily
accessible

other than having to go to View, Zoom, etc on the top menu. Various websites
seem to appear sized differently and it would be beneficial to be able
to change

the letter size easier

Saving emails in compressed format

2014-09-04 Thread Cygnus X11

Hello.

I'm using seamonkey / mozilla / netscape since 15 years or more, and
have tons of emails saved on my disk, organized by folders. They amount
to 2.3 GB as of today, and this is becoming a sort of problem (for
example, it's hard to put them on some virtual disk on the web). As far
as I understand (also thanks to a chat with KaiRo), they are saved in
mbox format. This is basically plain text, a useful feature if I want
to edit a saved message, but not optimal in terms of disk usage (not to
mention the fact that attachments are not readable with a text editor
anyway).

I'd like to have an option for saving my messages into a compressed
format, and also to convert into such format my existing folders. In
case no suitable format already exists, I would propose to save the
messages in a gzipped mbox format. Editors like emacs and utilities
like less decode gzipped files on the fly, and gzip is public and well
supported format. Hence this would not cause many problems, in case one
needs to import the messages from another program (at worst, one would
need to gunzip each email collection by hand).

I hope you'll keep my request in consideration for the near future.
Thank you so much for the beautiful work you've been doing for such a
long time!

Best regards,
Diego

Please help remove find bar

2014-09-04 Thread Charlee S. Cornish
Hi there,

I hate and detest the find bar appearing but cannot find how to get rid of it.

All the information on the web states that you have to go into
Edit-Preferences-Advanced and then disable it. However, if you look at the two
screen shots I have attached, I do not even have that option available to me
and all searches for the programme come up that it cannot be found.

I have updated to the latest version, but I still have the same thing. I
cannot get rid of the Find Bar.

Please can you help or tell me where in the registry to find it to alter the
settings from true to false, as it is driving me bonkers.

Many thanks in advance

changing print size, etc

2014-09-04 Thread Howard Philipson
 i sent an earlier e-mail suggestion that you add an easier way to
resize text, etc on web pages.
 I then came across the add-on theme font and size changer,... that
positions itself on the right side of the

impaired, but various websites
 appear differently and I am always changing the text size, etc, so the

 Like using Sea Monkey, though the name might need to be updated ?? to

Update 2.26.1

2014-09-04 Thread Peter Lübcke

Hallo Support,

Installationen? Würde mich freuen von Euch zu hören.

Help...you hijacked my thunderbird and I cannot delete anything have 2500 msgs

2014-09-04 Thread EP RamosPhD
Honestly your email is BAD...upside down from all the others AND each
message MUST be deleted ONE BY ONE.

You must have reserrected an old Netscape program from the 80s...
I don't like to be critical but getting Tbird hijacked when I just
started using it was aggravating...Hotmail will not recognize and I HAVE
to use the antiquated seamonkey...that barely even sends mail

replay function of a searched email by Gloda

2014-09-04 Thread irman

Hi everybody,

I have created a plugin for seamonkey to search emails by Gloda.

main part of my code is the following.

let query=Gloda.newQuery(Gloda.NOUN_MESSAGE);
query.bodyMatches(searchKeyword);
query.getCollection({
  onQueryCompleted: function _onQueryCompleted(msg_coll) {
let msg;
try{
 while(msg=msg_coll.items.pop())
   ExpressionSearchResult.messages.push(msg);

 var searchResult = ExpressionSearchResult.messages;
 for (i=0;isearchResult.length;i++) {
var dbView = GetDBView();
var indices = GetSelectedIndices(dbView);
var ioService =
Components.classes[@mozilla.org/network/io-service;1].getService(Components.interfaces.nsIIOService);
let messageUri =
ioService.newURI(searchResult[i].folderMessageURI, null, null);

dbView.loadMessageByUrl(searchResult[i].folderMessageURI);
dbView.selectMsgByKey(searchResult[i].messageKey);
window.openDialog(
chrome://messenger/content/messageWindow.xul,
_blank,all,chrome,dialog=no,status,toolbar, messageUri, null, dbView );

}
} catch (e) {
ExpressionSearchLog.logException(e);
 }
}
  });

the founded email is shown in a the message window, but replay button
does not work, because in following code in mailWindowOverlay.js

function ComposeMsgByType(aCompType, aEvent, aFormat)
 {
   var format = aFormat || ((aEvent  aEvent.shiftKey) ?
msgComposeFormat.OppositeOfDefault :  msgComposeFormat.Default);

   ComposeMessage(aCompType,
   format,
   GetFirstSelectedMsgFolder(),
   gFolderDisplay ? gFolderDisplay.selectedMessageUris : null);
 }

gFolderDisplay.selectedMessageUris returns null.

folderDisplay.js

get selectedMessageUris()
  {

   if (!gDBView)
   return null;
   var messageArray = gDBView.getURIsForSelection({});
   return messageArray.length ? messageArray : null;
 },

because gDBView.getURIsForSelection returns null.

it is natural because I do not select an email from email list window.

how can I bypass it and solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,
Farshad

BAD !! Bad!! BAD !!

2014-09-04 Thread Fergy's Place

Sir,
I have been using SeaMonkey some time and I loved it, but the last
two SeaMonkey 2.25 and 2.26 software programs was very BAD. This e-mail
is late so I will not give you any details because I know you have read
other e-mails before this one.
I have tried both SeaMonkey 2.25 and SeaMonkey 2.26 and I found
them defective. SeaMonkey 2.24 was great and for some reason, you put
out very bad defective programs. I went back to SeaMonkey 2.24 !!
Please think and TEST the next SeaMonkey 2.27 before putting out
new software this time You should know better !!!

page setup

2014-09-04 Thread Bonnell Frost
I had my setup for Seamonkey with inbox under bfr...@skybeam.com,
followed by local folders. I have lost it for no good reason that I
know of. It was set up with inbox directly under my login,
bfr...@skybeam.com, with a local folders group directly under the
listing of inbox subfolders like sent and trash. Now no subfolders and
no local folders with lots of saved messages. I have tried to
reinstall seamonkey and checked it's setup, to no avail. I have saved
stuff which

I tried to restore, to no avail.
I am in a retirement community, where I am the most experienced computer
user, so no one to lean on.

Addendum: I'm Fixed! Reinstall of Win7-32 did the trick, along with
removal gxgq2lzx from Thunderbird before reinstall of SM.

Two sea-monkey issues that I cant resolve

2014-09-04 Thread Mike O'Brien
sea-monkey 2.26.1 run on windows 7. Two issues that I cant resolve:
first each incoming e-mail shows a long list of code begining with the
message ID. How do I get rid of this visble code. Second when sea monkey
opens it indicates that the following file is missing: mozalloc.dll
Where can I find this file and where should it be stored when found?
Thanks for any help.

Generally speaking, the easiest way to deal with the DLL problem is to
uninstall SeaMonkey and reinstall it. Something is amiss with your
installation. If you're stubborn and don't want to do it the easy way,
you may be able to register the errant DLL. Search for the filename on
your SeaMonkey install volume and then use Regsvr32 to unregister and
reregister the DLL. If you don't know how to use Regsvr32, Google it. Be
aware that the path for the 64-bit and 32-bit versions are different.
Choose wisely.

For the first issue, I'm wondering whether you have View | Headers | All
selected. SeaMonkey offers differing levels of header detail. Just a
guess, though, not knowing exactly where you're seeing the header
information.

For #2: You don't have to uninstall... Just reinstall over the old

Ed, in my Linux set-up, I have Always ask selected for Bzip archive,
Gzip archive and Zip archive file.

I expect the settings are the same for Win7, but will actually check
tomorrow.

Tonight I'm on Win7 using SM2.29b1 (I've already d/l'ed b2) and, as I
suspected...

1. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Downloads, I have Always ask me
where to save files selected, and,
2. At Edit - Preferences - Browser - Helper Applications I have Bzip
archive, Gzip archive and Zip archive file types set to Always Ask.

Just in case, you know, you never know, I'll set Edit - Preferences -
Browser - Downloads to the other setting, close SM, and then tomorrow
I'll re-download Linux SM2.29b2 and hope it goes to the Download
folder,
then I'll reset to the Always Ask setting, re-boot SM and try again.
;-(

Here I am, having re-boot SM and downloaded Linux SM2.29b2 again. This
time I had SM set up to save Downloads to the Download folder, which I
did *and* the Download Manager opened up, as it should, to show me
the downloads progress.

Now I'll re-set to Always Ask and see what happens. :-)

Re-boot SM, went to
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/
and, sure enough, with the Always Ask pre-selected, I *did not*
get the second screen asking where I wanted to save the file, *nor*
did the Download Manager open up!!

Ho! Hmm!! Is there anyone else here that uses both Windows7 (WOW64)
and Linux (x86_64) and is willing to try downloading the Linux version
using their Windows7 version?? Q, maybe??

I had done this with my windows 7 pro 32 bits - User agent: Mozilla/5.0
(Windows NT 6.1; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 SeaMonkey/2.26.1
and i downloaded

http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/seamonkey-2.29b2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
with a single click, and i have the choice of the download directory.

Sorry, Ray, just to make it absolutely clear to me,

1. At Edit_Preferences-Browser-Downloads, under When saving a file
do you have Always ask me selected, and,

2. When then clicking on the file link above, do you mean you got the
small window giving you the option to Open with . or to Save
File, and then selecting Save File, you get another small screen
asking where on your hard disk you want to save the file??

I'm sorry if it seems I'm asking the same thing over and over again, but
I think English is not your first language (but you do pretty good with
it!), so I just want to be sure!!

But on the Helper Apllication, i did not have an entry for Bzip.

Bzip and Gzip are two Zip formats that I've only seen used on Linux. I
don't even know if Windows can handle them at all!!

Perhaps, but if there are file permissions issues, installing into the
existing structure may not resolve the problem. For the additional 2-3
minutes it takes to uninstall, it just makes sense, I think, to go the
extra distance.

Been there, done that. :)

Page Display issue help needed

2014-09-04 Thread hawker

I'm having a strange page display/formatting issue I can't quite solve.

If I got to Digikey.com and put in say 0805 COG in the search the
display is scrunched up and has a 3M thrown in and the word Capacitors
is below where it should be. See:

http://ashevillecommunity.org/hawker/DK-moz-bug.jpg
Sofar Digikey is the only page I seem to be having issues with.

My home computer running the same version of Seamonkey looks fine.
Starting in Safe Mode does not help.
Disabling JavaScript in the browser under advanced settings puts it back
the way it should be. My home computer has JavaScript enabled and all
the same check boxes however and it works fine so there is something
else I am missing.

What could be wrong? How can I fix this?

and Linux (x86_64) and is willing to try downloading the Linux version
using their Windows7 version?? Q, maybe??

I had done this with my windows 7 pro 32 bits - User agent: Mozilla/5.0
(Windows NT 6.1; rv:29.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/29.0 SeaMonkey/2.26.1
and i downloaded
seamonkey-2.29b2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/seamonkey/releases/2.29b2/contrib/seamonkey-2.29b2.en-US.linux-x86_64.tar.bz2

with a single click, and i have the choice of the download directory.

Sorry, Ray, just to make it absolutely clear to me,

1. At Edit_Preferences-Browser-Downloads, under When saving a
file do you have Always ask me selected, and,

YES

2. When then clicking on the file link above, do you mean you got the
small window giving you the option to Open with . or to Save
File, and then selecting Save File, you get another small screen
asking where on your hard disk you want to save the file??

YES, and then YES also.

I'm sorry if it seems I'm asking the same thing over and over again,
but I think English is not your first language (but you do pretty good
with it!), so I just want to be sure!!

But on the Helper Apllication, i did not have an entry for Bzip.

Bzip and Gzip are two Zip formats that I've only seen used on Linux. I
don't even know if Windows can handle them at all!!
