Hi, I've recently got rid of flash player and find that in Firefox and Palemoon I can still view flash content but in SeaMonkey I'm not able to. Is there a way around this problem? Thank you. Even mucked things up worse when trying to do some of the Registry hack solutions other folks had posted. I've never used a Netscape newsreader and have used Forte since it first came out. I have also used Pegasus mail since it was 1st released as well and still use it! I really don't care for HTML email. So I've turned into an old fart ;-) I have clients who need to use Outlook for their email and others who prefer to choose their own email programs. I posted my goodbye because I *am* truly sad to have to dump SM. I also teach, and students who see my laptop would ask what's that Seamonkey thing and I liked the fact that I was being 'different'. But using Pegasus and Forte Agent is also part of that 'being different'. When SM stopped offering a custom install it forced me to choose between my favourite email client and my favourite browser. I tried to stick with v1.1.18. But more and more sites were causing problems and now Google has announced that Google app support for older browsers will soon be discontinued. So it's either use SM 2.x,and never have email links open my preferred email program, or use Firefox or other browser. fwiw, when (if every again) Seamonkey offers an easy option to choose an outside email program for mailto links, then I WILL be back in a flash .. though I don't care much for Flash either g Russell ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey
Goodbye Seamonkey
As someone who's been on the web since the beginning with Mosaic , then Netscape, then AOL Netscape (ugh) , then Netscape re-born as Seamonkey, it's a sad day to have to give up and move on, The end comes with v2.x, Seamonkey and the decision to no longer be a simple browser, but that it must be an all or nothing' suite. So if you need to use another email client then it will just screw up your whole way of working. I'm convinced that this was a behind the doors' decision with the Firefox crowd to justify Mozilla supporting a second browser project, and they then agreed that Seamonkey would only continue as an integrated suite, and that's the only way users will be able to use it (fatal error imo). The Firefox crowd will be happy to hear that I know of at least 5 users (this week alone) who have moved to other browsers as there is no upgrade path for them beyond v1.1.18. Meanwhile Firefox continues to offer an email client (Thunderbird) as a OPTION and that's probably where they will go, as have I, for now. But this whole thing smacks of nasty backroom BS. I'll hold my nose and use Firefox for now. But it's sad to have to say goodbye to a browser I've used and promoted for so many years. SM2 - using external email program for mailto?
Now that SM2 is being officially offered as an update to 1.1.18 is there a recommended procedure to easily configure it to use another email client for mailto links? I would be using it on XP, Vista64 and Win7-64 systems. I was hoping that the final release would allow me to simply not install the email component via the custom install as has always been the case in the past. But I just began to install the release version and see that email is no longer a component that can be omitted. I don't mind installing it, I just don't want to use it. Thanks for any advise. If somebody wants a Browser Only application, why not use a Browser Only application in the first place?? Because afaik Seamonkey was simply a continuation of a tradition that began with Mozilla and then Netscape. Netscape also offered an email client that could be used or not, as the user wished. This same philosophy of 'choice' has continued right up to today with the current version (v1.18) of Seamonkey. As an open source initiative I would wonder why anyone would want to remove choices and force an 'all or nothing' approach? That's more typical of companies like A$$ple, Micro$$oft and Ado$$e who use that to lock users into using only their product and make themselves wealthier as a result. It would be sad if the final release of SM 2.0 did not offer the same tradition of choice as in the past. And there are many users like myself who simply do NOT like the look and feel of Firefox. Perhaps it's the interests of the Firefox developers that's behind this move? Not permitting Seamonkey to work without hijacking the system email will certainly reduce its user base (I would leave as will many others I know) and drive Seamonkey even more quickly into oblivion. That would be a shame. Russell ___ support-seamonkey mailing list support-seamonkey@lists.mozilla.org https://lists.mozilla.org/listinfo/support-seamonkey

Seamonkey v2 RC - How to disable email feature?
I really like the Seamonkey browser and have used it for years. In previous SM releases I could do a custom install and not install the email feature as I prefer to use another email client. With Seamonkey v2 RC's custom install there's no option to omit the email component and now every time I click on an email link in SM it's asking me to setup my Seamonkey email service. How can I get rid of this and have my email open in the application I prefer? I'm using XP, but assume this issue exists with Vista as well.
