Unsubscribing

2017-06-20 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Hello All,

It is with a great sadness that I have decided to unsubscribe from the
list. Since Window-Eyes is now gone, I feel that I no longer need to be
on the list, but I have had a good level of support from everyone on the
list for several years. I wish everyone the best.

I would think that would be a really good thing for them to have, a

were sold for a price. But no main Collection of Jaws Scripts exist.

He also mentioned that some Jaws Scripts may be out of Date and may not
work well or at all with Jaws 18, so be sure to note whether or not the

Re: Window-Eyes to JAWS Migration

2017-05-15 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk
This is indeed very sad. I have been a loyal user of Window-Eyes for
nearly 14 years, and really enjoyed using it. But I've decided to bow
to the inevitable and use Jaws, especially since employers are going to
be using it, and will not consider NVDA. I don't blame the staff
remaining behind for Window-Eyes being phased out, I could tell this was
not what they wanted. I am glad to have been a user of Window-Eyes, and
I want to thank Aaron and Doug for all they have done, and the same to
those no longer working at VFO.

Window-Eyes and Webroot Security

2017-02-15 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Hello everyone,

I am having a problem with Window-Eyes at my volunteering placement.
Window-Eyes will not let me use brows mode hotkeys for navigation in
either Google Chrome or Internet Explorer. Since my role involves
pretty much continuous use of the internet, it is absolutely essential
that I can get it to work properly. The organisation recently changed
to the Webroot security suite, and from a previous email I got about a
similar problem, it seems that Window-Eyes is being seen as a key
logger. What is the exact file name/process that has to be let
through? If this is not the reason for Window-Eyes not working on the
internet, what might the other reasons be?

Word 2016 Spell Checker

Hello everyone, I'm having a problem after having installed Word 2016.
Whenever I activate the spelling checker by using the context menu key

unless I do a right arrow and then left arrow back out of the menu. It
also won't read them when I use the up and down arrow keys. Does anyone
know why this is? I could use the F7 key for the spell checker, but it
doesn't spell out the alternatives like it used to. Has anyone else had
this problem? Thank you in advance.

Hello everyone,

I am having a major problem with Eset which I can't solve with
Window-Eyes. I am trying to log into my bank, but Eset insists on
opening its secure banking payment system, and it is seeing Window-Eyes
as a key logger threat. I don't know how to set Window-Eyes to be in
the whitelist, and I can't get into Eset to turn the banking payment
system off because Eset is now refusing to interface with Window-Eyes.
I managed to open the advanced settings, but Window-Eyes will not
respond to any tabbing or use of the arrow keys, so I can't check to
make sure the enable use of graphics is turned off. This is
particularly important, as I can't even check the amount in my bank
without logging in. Can anyone help with this? Thank you.

The work around would be to use an alternative screen reader such as

Re: Introduction

2016-06-07 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk
Hello Steve, good that you are trying it out. I'm sure that scripts (or
apps as they are called in Window-Eyes) can be written for the non
standard programme. In fact, it would be a lot easier than Jaws, as
Window-Eyes will work with programming languages that support com plus
automation, which I believe is most programming languages, so it does
not require a proprietary format like Jaws does.

Re: Webinar and tutorial topics - feedback requested

I think a good topic would be how to use online shopping websites. There

Read to End Problem with Sapi

2015-12-18 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Hello everyone,
I have noticed that, as well as capital letters not working when using
the NeoSpeech sapi synthesizer, during read to end, Window-Eyes will
stop reading half way through a sentence and start again, as if someone
has put a semicolon right in the middle of the sentence. It does not
happen when using Dectalk or Vocaliser. Is anyone else having this
problem? It looks like there are several bugs with Sapi that have
arisen with the 9.3 version.

Re: BBC Radio

2015-12-18 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Hello Reg,
You will have to find the link that says jump media player, turn off
Brows Mode, tab and you will come to the media help link. Tab again and
you will not hear anything, but that is the play button. Press the
space bar and it will start playing. If you tab once more, you will
find a mute button, a second time will come to a volume slider, and a
third time will take you to a seek slider, but Window-Eyes will not say
anything. Hope this helps.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b06rwpnz

In Explorer, I see no "play" or "listen" button at all, but it will play
the short sound clips.
In firefox, I see no main listen button, but I do see a "listen in
pop-out player" link, which causes the Adobe Flash plug in to crash.
Incidentally, this also happens with NVDA.
If I close down the screen reader and reload the page, it will play, but
reopening W-E causes the crash again and all is silence.
Any thoughts?

FUrther Information about Problems with Window-Eyes

2015-12-17 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk

Hello everyone,
I have some further information about my problems with Window-Eyes
version 9.3. I said in my previous email that Window-Eyes is not using
pitch variation in capital letters. I have found that this happens when
I am using NeoSpeech, which is my primary synthesizer, but I didn't have
problems with it doing it in Window-Eyes 9.2, and it doesn't happen if I
use Dectalk. I am also now having a problem where I can't get
Window-Eyes to stop indicating links and headings during read to end,
and Window-Eyes is still crashing on some long websites. Why is this
happening?

If someone can do that it would be A big help.
Also if I was to install it over my current one would it work to do

Subject: Unable to Read Dialogs in Thunderbird

Hello everyone, I am having problems reading various windows in
Thunderbird. I can read and write messages, but I can't use the mouse
pointer on any window. Every time I try, it just dings at me, and every
time I use control shift W to read a window, for example in a dialogue,
it just reads the window title. I have found that the window is
maximized, so that isn't the problem. Is there something I could have
accidentally set in Thunderbird to make this happen?

Can they be used for switchboard systems, or is that a different type of

wonderful, except that there is way! too much delay, even after totally

X-Lite/Bria... Ehh, I'm on NDA, so I can't go into much, but I'm on the

Re: mixing audio using window-eyes

2015-05-18 Thread Samuel Wilkins via Talk
Hello Michael, I use Goldwave, as I find it more user friendly. In
order to change the settings on your computer to allow recording from
your microphone and sound card, you will need to go into the system
tray, choose speakers, and choose change playback settings. You will
then need to unmute your microphone, and control tab to recording
settings. Your soundcard should have a stereo mix or what you hear
option. If not, press the context menu key, and make sure show disabled
devices is checked. Then, if you find stereo mix or what you hear,
choose set as default device in the context menu. Hope this helps.

question. They will be using the Microsoft Office offer, and because
that does not come with eloquence or any other speech synthesizer except
ESpeak, they will need to buy Eloquence separately. If the schools are
using Window-Eyes on multiple computers, will they get a serial number
for each computer, and if so, do they have to buy eloquence for each
computer that Window-Eyes is on, or is it possible for academic
institutions to get one serial number for all their computers that have

Hi all

I have Window-Eyes9.1, but I think I have experienced the differences
between these browsers under previous versions of Window-Eyes.
If I select a previously broadcast programme via
bbc.co.uk
Internet Explorer shows me a "Listen with pop out player" link, which
Firefox does not.
Is this true for me alone, or is this a general problem, and can it be
fixed?
I notice other controls on other sites, particularly buttons, which IE
shows and Firefox does not.
The apparent inaccessibility of the "pop out player" with Firefox is a
particular problem because its controls work really well once selected.
I would prefer Firefox to be my default browser if possible, but the
browser seems determined to make itself inaccessible in annoying ways,
while trumpeting its commitment to accessibility.
Why does Firefox fail to recognise some of the controls with which IE
seems to have no problem?
