In Word 2010 it is alt followed by F I E for File Info Enable Editing. It might also work to save the document in a new place first. Hi Slery: Here are the steps to turn of protectedd mode for a document that you hjave just loaded 1. Press the alt key to go to the ribbon. 2. Press the left arrow key to get to the File button. 3. Press the spacebar to open the file submenu. 4. Press the up arrow until you get to Info. 5. Tab until yu get to the Allow Editing button and press the spacebar. I believe it is probably the same as Word 2010 Press alt to get to the menu then press control tab once and press tab once and you should land on enable editing button Press space You should now be able to read and edit the document I would recommend that you immediately save the document by doing save as and putting your name in front of the original document name and fill out the test. And the other day I think I did a windows find command to search for Enable and clicked on that to enable editing of a document that was open on my screen.
