Re: [Talk-us] Great Lakes Boundaries
AJ, Thanks for your message and your interest in this topic. I have been reluctant to remove the natural=water tag from the relation (I am not the one that added it). I was worried that it might have widespread unintended consequences. However, given your and maxerickson's suggestion, I say we go ahead and do it. The rendering is very unpredictable the way things stand. The rendering may be fine early in the day, and then later, with no change to geometry or tagging, it is broken (e.g. islands flooded). Dirtying the tiles fixes the problem...until the next day. I also suggest we document this on the wiki, explicitly saying not to add the natural=water tag to the Great Lakes unless there is a discussion on these lists (thanks for including the Canadian list on your reply btw). [Talk-us] USA Rail: Amtrak Northeast Regional to Norfolk?
Does anybody know how the newer Northeast Regional Amtrak trains (71, 88, 125, 157, 174) which serve Norfolk, Virginia actually get there? I mean on what track from Petersburg? I ask as OSM's Amtrak routes become roughly complete with this missing segment (there are a few other minor missing segments around Chicago), at least to a rudimentary state of public_transport:version=1. Work has begun to convert these to public_transport:version=2, a major goal of USA Rail going forward. Another major goal is the completion of infrastructure (route=railway relations and associated tagging), which lags far behind Amtrak routes but still progresses nicely. Re: [Talk-us] USA Rail: Amtrak Northeast Regional to Norfolk?
I suspect that this is probably not detailed enough to help you, but here is how it was described when the route began: The Norfolk train will run south of Harbor Park, across the Elizabeth River and on toward Suffolk, where it will pass through rural Western Tidewater along U.S. 460 toward its first stop, the Ettrick station by Petersburg, and on to Richmond. Source: http://hamptonroads.com/2012/12/ready-ride-amtrak-norfolk-heres-guide Unfortunately, I haven't yet had the chance to take advantage of the route. I will resist the urge to attempt to crowdfund an Amtrak trip from Norfolk to Washington. *grin* If I ever do manage to take it (and my increasingly flaky phone battery survives) I'll get a GPS track).
___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr ___ Talk-fr mailing list Talk-fr@openstreetmap.org https://lists.openstreetmap.org/listinfo/talk-fr

I wish there was a similar cooperation in relation to UK data. On the whole it looks like a very nice data set, but it is interesting that while looking at potlatch with imagery many buildings align nicely, but the odd one is different. Some seem to be down to extensions but others are not so easy to explain, so perhaps it's time to start providing them with bug reports Robin ;) Every building has an object id but it would perhaps be nice if they had a little more than just 'building' ... there is no actual address data! As an aside ... I'm looking at a substantial amount of essentially identical private tagging information added to every building of which only two elements are used by OSM. Is it not about time we introduced a database of import attributions so that the 'source' tag just becomes an Ixxx.yyy and all of the generic tagging can be accessed via that. We can then more easily see what is 'managed import' over manual data. Re: [Talk-br] Duvida Limites Administrativos
I guess I might end up going with cuisine=greasy_spoon - but since there were only 4 uses so far, I suspected there was something I was missing.
