On-The-Fly Encryption category on the bugtracking

2004-11-23 Thread Maxim Masiutin
Hello Tbbeta,

Thank you for filling the On-The-Fly Encryption category on the bugtracking
server!

I'm now mostly working out of office and unable to follow the TBBETA
conversations!

The On-The-Fly Encryption category is very convenient!

When I tried to use the show ticker option from the bat icon in the

Also check and make sure that your mail directory folders/files have
not been set to Read Only status... this can happen if you restore a

Questions about filter conditions in TB 3.x

2004-11-23 Thread Peter Hampf
Good evening tbbeta,

well, maybe this has been asked in the past and I have not noticed it, so
please do not feel annoyed ;)

Until now I have used Securebat for my daily correspondence and TB 3.x for
testing purposes. I have just migrated my SB data to TB 3.0.2.8 in
encryption mode using the iKey token.

Everything went fine, except TB did not group my filter conditions
correctly. In fact it did not generate any group at all - which causes a
  lot of manual fine tuning.

While working on the filters I stumbled across some questions which
hopefully can be answered in this forum.

For a spam filter I had entered sender-data in SB like this:

[EMAIL PROTECTED]|[EMAIL PROTECTED]|@blondies-show|(and much more data)

TB translated it to sender match [EMAIL PROTECTED]|[EMAIL
PROTECTED]|@blondies-show

  - is the only difference between (a) sender match ... and (b) sender
contains that (a) considers RegExps while (b) does not?

  - are sender match data1|data2|data3 and
sender matches any of data1
   data2
   data3
identical filters?

  - what is the difference between (a) matches any of and (b) matches all
as RegExp? As far as I understood the help file, (a) also considers
RegExp. So what does (b) do what (a) doesn't?

  - when a message has been moved by a filter but a SUBfilter also matches,
will this subfilter apply to the moved message?

  - how is a filter processed that has this conditions:

sender match data
or text match data
and recipient match data
or text match data
and recipient match data

The correct migration from SB to TB should have been

sender match data
  or (text match data
  and recipient match data)
  or (text match data
  and recipient match data)

I guess the TB generated filter will not work as expected, right?

You're a cool frood! :-) I was looking forward to the next beta and
was pleasantly surprised to see this so soon...

However, regardless of the number of concurrent connections available
I always see 5 identical requests on connection 1:

  Request info Status State Connection
Copy remote messages to In queue 1

I am unable to delete the requests. Nonetheless, this doesn't seem to
cause any problems.

FREQ: selecting more than one account

2004-11-23 Thread Peter Hampf
Good evening tbbeta,

wouldn't it be great to be able to select more than one account using
  shift+cursor or ctrl+mouse-click?

I have several accounts which are not checked by the check-mail-for-all
function. But sometimes I want a few of them to be updated. Instead of
checking every single account it would be a good idea IMO to be able to

How do you name the beta version? And do you use a shortcut or the

I ask because the Start Menu will run the previously executed version
on TB! whereas a shortcut will run a specific executable. I renamed
the current beta to thebat-3.0.2.8.exe keeping the last release
version: thebat.exe. If I double-click on the beta it will then be
associated with the Start Menu icon (E-Mail.) However, if I use the
Program menu shortcut the release version runs.

This is quite handy... I can easily revert to an earlier beta or the
release version without renaming files.

Hi TBBeta,

I am attempting to install the latest TB! beta release over 3.0.1.33

 close and relaunch.

What do you mean by install? As far as I know there is only an

Do you get any messages when you start TB? Have a look for

Re: The Bat! 3.0.2.8 is now available

2004-11-23 Thread Raymund Thomas Tump
Hi 9Val,

[*] IMAP: multiple connections to server (Fine Tune option)

Well, I have multiple connections now, but that seems to be somewhat
randomly.

First of all: Tasks are added to the list even if the same task
already exist. I have 4 entries in the list to get the message list of
the Inbox and all show connection one.

Every now and then I can see that a connection 4 is used to get some
more information about my IMAP account, but the list of entries for
connection one never shortens.

I tried to abort all tasks. That closed the CC but after hitting the
Get New Mail button all task are back again. Same happens if I try to
synchronise all folders.

Now I tried what happens to the threads if I close TB! Most them are
back again, well that was what I expected as there are 14 folders to
sync. But why are there two entries saying they use connnection one
and are doing something? (Now there are four in Status executing, but
with no state.)

I will have a look what happens if I use 10 concurrent connections
now... First I wrote that it doesn't make any difference, I was wrong.
I have to write it again, as TB! crashed while I was typing.

Would it make sense to group the action in the list in a way such that
a scan and sync on the same folder use the same connection?

Spoken too soon. :( I guess I was excited. :)
Anyway, though the connections are established, they aren't durable and
just a while back, TB! wouldn't establish more than 2 connections and
refused to do a message retrieval even though the connection center
showed nothing in the queue. I select the message and nothing at all
happens.

It's as though the connections go all awry with time though things are
nicely energetic and spiffy after the initial startup. It didn't take
long for this to occur either. I had been running TB! for about 10
minutes. Amounts to a stability issue I'd say in that there are problems
with maintaining those multiple connections and using them efficiently.
:( OTOH, no such problem with ThunderBird that I had running since this

AV on startup, after splash program crashes and TB closes...
