Hello Gonalo! On Saturday, December 4, 2004 at 10:31:25 AM you wrote: Well, if I recall correctly, I purchase this software, I did not rent or leased it. And? Every single sw I know using the subscription model (like BreezeBrowser after April 2003) don't stop functioning after the subscription period; you just don't have any rights to further fixes and upgrades. Is it fair to expect sw developers to get paid once but then provide unlimited fixes and upgrades? I personally prefer those kind of softwares where you buy it once and get a license for every future version. I purchased several softwares in this category. Which is exactly what I meant: Fair is it only when I pay a small amount and get everything I want. Yes, I do use sw like that, too, incl. my version of BreezeBrowser, which came out before Chris Breeze changed the payment model. I also use - if the application is worth it to me - subscription sw like F-Secure. Especially the last one can be defined as unfair since it will work after one year but cannot use new virus signatures (as told to me by their support). I actually don't think it is unfair to ask for new payment. BTW, my NG membership has to be renewed by paying up when one year (or two years, depending on your payment options) is over. In the category of those that must be 're-purchased' TheBat, TheBat Private Disk, among others. I bought this ones, because the price was fair but I'm not going to pay annual fees for sure. I would more easily go back to AK-Mail. Currently TB does not use subscription, and as I wrote above, you won't have to re-purchase (at least I don't think RL is thinking along lines of expiration codes) to use an existing (and purchased!) copy. Since when is their code changed? I use F-Secure for many years now and never did the version I bought stop working or disintegrate. In earlier years it just was illegal to get new virus definitions, then access was simply forbidden to download the definition files and now files may simply not be recognisable by older versions (you need an upgrade). Loss of HTML and pictures as attachments.
Hello, I have a strange one, never happened before this am. I received a post that was HTML based with pictures that were a part of the HTML based post. I read all mail in Plain Text Micro-Ed. (in the pre-view pane) with the option to read in HTML. So my post will show up with tabs at the bottom for txt, HTML, (which will show all text and pictures) then a tab for each picture. I'm sorry, I'm going to guess they were jpg but since there gone I can't be sure. I did something different with this post than I usually do. I decided to use the right click option to copy and once to move the post to another account folder where I keep my jokes. At first I couldn't find the copied post in the new folder. So I tried the right click option to move the post to the same folder. Nada, but with persistence in trying to raise the scroll bar to the very top, all of a sudden they appeared. But, without any of the HTML or pictures. I thought well maybe since this is OTFE maybe the pics got stuck in an attachment folder in the original account folder. So, I proceeded to move the post back to the original folder. Still no HTML or pictures. I tried sending the post to one of my email accounts thinking the attachments might hook back up with the post and I could once again have the original post back in tact. Nothing. What is weird here is the post still shows it is 556,580 in size (original size)... When I sent the post it was only 5,287 in size. One thing I have noticed now the I have gone OTFE is that the option to keep attachments together or to separate the attachments into another folder is gone in all my account settings. So, where to attachments go now? I did try to use maintenance to fix the file - it shows damaged but has yet to fix the file or the post. -- Thanks, Dean 3.0.2.10 Windows 2000 5 2195 Current beta is 3.0.2.10 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/

How Do I Keep IMAP From Connecting?
Hi, everyone. I hope someone can help me, because this is driving me crazy. I just changed my email provider. I have an IMAP account with my former ISP set up in The Bat!, but I can no longer log in. I downloaded all the messages from the server while the account was still active, and I want to be able to read them offline, so I have to leave the account there. But the login dialog keeps popping up (even when I'm working in another account). When it does, it's almost impossible to get rid of it. It takes numerous mouse clicks, which sometimes closes it normally and sometimes gives an access violation. Then a minute or two later, it's back again. In server settings for the account, under Mail management, Automatically connect to the server, I have nothing checked, yet TB! keeps tried to connect. Even now, as I compose this message in Thunderbird, this causes the login dialog, along with the entire TB! three-pane window, to pop up and obscure this composition window. I have to click 4 or 5 times to dismiss it before I can continue. The Bat! is unusable until I can resolve this issue. Since I haven't been using TB! regularly, I've probably forgotten about some obvious setting. If so, somebody please tell me what it is! I'm using 3.0.2.8, by the way. Reading about the various IMAP problems with later betas, I haven't dared to upgrade yet. -- Keith Current beta is 3.0.2.10 | 'Using TBBETA' information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html IMPORTANT: To register as a Beta tester, use this link first - http://www.ritlabs.com/en/partners/testers/
