JS No, it doesn't. (And even new versions of PNM2PNG dropped the support)

So, in all of this talk, how can I change my glyphs? I've tried using
the glyph set I had with my ordinary version 3 but only half of them
seem to be recognised and I get the alpha glyphs for the rest, even if I
completely delete the file, so there must surely be some icons embeded
in there somewhere as well as in the icon file.

Two buttons? One button would be enough.

A message comes through that you want the images for, click the button.

I see no reason to have a another button that turns a button on and off,

DC IMAP is really great if you need to access your mail on multiple

Plugin keeps disappearing

2005-02-28 Thread Zann
Hi folks,

I got a strange problem - I cant keep Achim's Bayes Filter
Plugin installed: every time I restart TB! it forgets about
it (nothing happens and it's missing from both Anti-spam and
Plug-Ins lists under Options) and I have to add it manually
again. Once added it seems to work just fine ... but why
would TB! forget that the plugin was already installed?

I'm don't have much experience with TB! plugins, I used to
use BayesIt for a while (and with no problems), but it's
been missing so much of obvious spam, that I decided to try
Achim's one. Where does TB! usually keep its records about
installed plugins? I looked through the obvious places in
the registry, but found no related keys ...

I'd appreciate any ideas. The Bat! 3.0.2.8 - 3.0.2.10, Bayes
Filter Plugin 2.0.2, Windows XP-SP2+, user is administrator,
no funky software running that could block access to files,

I would however like a checkbox to turn the X on or off so that it

Well it's exactly the same thing. A checkbox to set a preference in a
semipermanent way. Or have it removable from the toolbar - I'm sure nobody
cares EXACTLY how it's implemented, and the effect is identical.

I'd like the 'X' checkbox as well, but, of course, that's not how windows ran

the XML support still isn't implemented completely at the moment.

To also exchange the missing folder symbols, TheBat! still needs the

the INI file for my Minimal Design Glyph - it works as expected.

LG Only in the sense that it will be a huge investment of time in which

LG generation engines to keep up with out of control, rapidly evolving
LG standards (not to mention even conflicting ones).

I also believe that the standards are rapidly evolving (and

Why I'm looking for a substitute for The Bat!

2005-02-28 Thread Mark Partous

Hello Beta-Bats,

Simply said: because it makes me lose too much time.

Don't let me be misunderstood: I haven't found a substitute yet, but I am
looking for a better solution, and, yes, I'm almost certain I will have to
give up a lot of things that I do like and won't find elsewhere.

I have asked before (and wrote it in the Bugtrack-whishlist) if it wouldn't
be possible to make the choice of viewer on a folder-by-folder basis.

For instance: in the folder where I collect the messages containing the
XYZ-newsletter with embedded pictures, I could choose the HTML-viewer as the
default one as opposed to most folders.

As it is now, an extra click is needed for each message in order to select
the html-viewer. Well, that's not a real problem.

BTW: If one day it would be possible to let TB! download non-embedded images
automatically, I think it would be a little bit safer if this could be done
on a folder-by-folder basis, rather than with a whitelist, and NEVER in the
inbox or SPAM-folders.

Oh yes, as far as the remark it's so easy to click on the icon and view the
html-message in my browser is concerned: consider this:

- click to select the message
- click on the attachment-icon
- click on message-html
- if the browser had not been launched yet : wait... wait... wait...
- click on a popup-screen the system can't find the given file (translating)
this is something that I first was confronted with when I made Opera my
default browser for a short while. Since, I can't get rid of it. It's a
warning that is given by The Bat!
- click on the browser window to close the message
- click on The Bat Icon to return to TB!

and once more

- click to select the message

all of the above times 30 in order to view 30 messages that all come from the
same, well known sender, all in the same folder.

But, far more important than all of the above, is the fact that I'm fed up
with all of the redundant work maintaining my address books as far as clients
are concerned.

Let's suppose that one of them changes his e-mailaddress:

I have to change it in:

- my Access-based database
- Time Chaos
- The Bat!

I might as well get rid of my computer and buy myself a rolodex! :-(

I haven't found a way to synchronise these. I know people will say that
a shared database would make it a target for people with bad intentions.

But unlike those people, I think that is a matter of securing that database
better, rather than not develop the feature.

As said before, I'm not leaving The Bat! yet. And of course, I whish I would
find a solution that doesn't make me leave at all.

Meanwhile I think I'l try out Barca and perhaps the Mozilla-combination.

Hi Stefan Tanurkov,

Please feel free to send your comments/reports about other issues

I can't get it to work, it crashes after the splashscreen,
I get two messages:
first one is AV:

Access violation at address 0056B646 in module 'thebat.exe'. Read of address

I followed the instructions, unzipped the prebeta thus overwriting
existing files in TB main folder, added the batskin file and had no
luck.

Reverted to last stable version, made a backup, uninstalled all and
deleted the reg-files. Installed the 3.01.33, got back my messages, ran

TBBETA Mission statement

The TBBETA list has been set up for the purpose of discussing The
Bat! officially released Beta test versions and related issues. For
general topics of a more simple nature regarding full release
versions, refer to TBUDL. For more complex topics refer to TBTECH.

An 'officially released' beta version is one which has been
announced *by RITlabs* on the TBBETA list, usually with a list of
changes.

Simply send messages to tbbeta@thebat.dutaint.com to send it to
the whole list.

See the notes at the end of this message for details about how to
manage your list membership or to leave the list.

It would probably be a good idea for you to set up a folder to keep
TBBETA messages in. If you do this, the next most useful thing to
have in place is an automatic filter to move mail from your inbox
into your TBBETA folder.

Set up a filter for incoming mail which looks for:

The Roguemoticon Project

It's nice to see your contact's face in the header ... and for them
to see yours. That's what roguemoticons are all about. If you wish
to add yourself, then you'll need to visit this site
http://www.pcwize.com/thebat

What this place will do for you is to allow you to create an
account, add your image and then let you download a .ZIP file
containing all the files you'll need to be able so see people's
faces without having to send or receive any real images in any
messages.

To trigger the roguemoticon display in the message header for anyone
reading your message using TB, you have the choice of using the
X-Rogue: header or a signature trigger.

How to use a signature trigger
The image is triggered by a 'Handle' you've defined in your
account, and when that Handle appears in a message it gets
replaced on the client side by the corresponding image. A handle
could look like anything you want it to look like pretty much.
For example:
:Leif_Gregory:
Just add this text to your standard message signature block.

How to create the X-Rogue: header
You can do that with this macro:
%SetHeader('X-Rogue',':your_handle:')%- in your templates for
this and other tb-lists.
However, the macro alone won't do the trick.
TB'll say: 'Hey, that's not any RFC822 header I know about', so
you'll have to define it as such:
Options .. Preferences .. Messages .. Message headers .. 'Add'

Now you'll get a pop-up to define the header

Display as: X-Rogue (or whatever, it isn't very important)
  RFC header: X-Rogue
Uncheck: 'This field is an address list' (because it isn't)
Check: 'Allow this field to be edited in the message editor'
Uncheck: 'Display this field in the scrollable part of the
  header pane'

Now you're done and every TB-user can see your lovable face when
they've installed the roguemoticons.

For you to see peoples faces:

To get this going, you should be running TB! v2.12 or later. Fetch
  the following file:
  http://www.pcwize.com/thebat/smileys/rogues.zip

Unzip it to the 'Images' directory that's in your TB! installation
  directory: C:\Program Files\The Bat!\Images
You should now have a directory called 'rogues' containing many
images as well as the file 'rogues.msl' in your Images directory.
Go into the preferences, and bring up the View/Editor options. Now
hit Shift-CTRL-Alt-T while TB! is in focus. This will re-fetch
TB!'s smiley set from disk and load the new images.
