On this work laptop (I am currently travelling), I received the pop-up stating that a new release version is available. Seeing the bugs being reported here, I am quite happy that I am still with the old version, but it doesn't seem normal. On another note, shouldn't the new version have been beta tested before the release? Just asking. -- Cheers, Thomas. Message reply created with The Bat! Internal viewer is alive. I don't see any reasons to block new viewer for Win7 users and using old. For receiving new versions and for "old users". If you're using end-of-life operating systems, you have to accept that at some point you'll have to keep using old programs, too. Writing a HTML viewer is far from trivial, and there's a good reason that The Bat switched from internal viewer to CEF (though I'd still prefer if Edge WebView2 was used instead, since that gets security updates from the OS, so a new TB release wouldn't be needed due to CVE-2023-4863). -- < Jernej Simončič ><><><><>< https://eternallybored.org/ > The more campaigning, the better. -- O'Brien's First Law of Politics TheBat! Re: 10.4.0.17 gives me error of wrong CEF version on Windows 10 / same with 10.5 over 10.4.0.17
I have an explanation of the immediate effect in the meantime: there seems to be a mix-up between install folders. To my, displeasure, since several versions TheBat! seems to install into two folders: program files and localProfile/TheBat. (Why are these two locations used anyway?) Now, regarding CEF, there were two sources present: - program files/CEF had the version 103.0.12.0 - local profile had 1.2 GB worths of different versions (isn't that getting cleaned - waste-of-space-wise?), one of them the current one, 117.1.5.0 But TheBat! 10.5 seemed to only regard the program files/CEF location where the old one was present. When deleted, no CEF would be found. I had to manually copy the current CEF from local profile into the program files/CEF path. Which CEF location should TheBat! regard or prefer - and why is there the entire big historic collection in the local profile if it's not being used? Thank you, best regards Viktor , Donnerstag, 5. This is not an ugly Microsoft/Apple or dirty Adobe (that can kill Macromedia and then flash only because Apple says to them). Just html-viewer can't be a reason. And if ugly monopolies of shit-Chromium can kill Win7 support then needs to have some another html-viewer like in v8 TB! and shut off that chromium-shit for Win7 users. As we know, in the future we will see TB for android, may be for linux too. Why all of that new and old OS'es won't be supported just because some idiots and bastards from monopolies decide that?
