Adding attachment to mass mail
Hello, This is very strange. I send out a PDF file to a list of about 60 people once a month using a quick template. I select the group in the address book and then File/Mass mailing using template. I then edit the quick template and add the necessary file for sending and save the resulting product as Draft (I sometimes add individual comments), but the supposedly attached file is not attached. I've tried adding the file to the template both before and after selecting it but to no avail. All I have is the following in the bottom of each mail %ATTACHFILE=XXX but no separate attach window in the message and no attach icon in the out box and I know the attachment doesn't get sent because I tried it last night and have already had complaints that it wasn't there ;-) If I pick each address individually then the attachment works but that's a long process. I've only been using TB! for about 3 months but the last two times I used this template it worked perfectly ;-( -- Best regards, Richard Love is grand. Divorce is twenty grand. There is a fourth choice if your VS supports it. Use it as a proxy to get to your POP3 account. Trend Micro's PCCillin does this. I have to enter the POP3 Server as localhost/servername. It then goes through PCCillin first, which clears infected messages. Thanks Mike for that suggestion. I am using my AV as a pop-proxy, and with this setting happened exactly what Marck describes. I have the settings set to display window btw but if this window is desplayed, it must be made in such a way that i can't catch it with my screen access technology. Re: Marking messages as Read when replied.
Hello Daniel, snipped a bit I'm just finding that I am going to messages marked as unread, to discover that I have indeed replied to them, but have left them in the unread state, hence why i would like to make use of a filter to do it for me once the reply has been sent. I keep all messages pending for reply in a single folder, that way I don't miss any and, when replied, they are automatically sorted to the folder where they actually belong. Re[2]: html mailto bug
Jonathan- The quotes *aren't* passed on to TB, it's true. But look at the second url on the web page - it's formatted correctly with %20 in between the words instead of spaces. TB does pick up the entire string. It just doesn't handle the %20s properly. Try this: right-click on the hi url and copy it to the clipboard. Now create a new shortcut on your desktop and paste it in. It should show up with a Bat icon. Double-click on the shortcut. There you'll see the entire message in the subject line. So TB does handle the mailto: urls in the proper manner sometimes - it seems that it's just the web-page-to-mail handler that is broken. Now...right-click on each of the urls on the web page and paste them into a text editor - you get the entire text between the quotes, well-formed or not. So, whether it's a good idea or not, the technical feat of grabbing the whole text of the url from quote to quote isn't much of a chore. -Mark Wieder Using The Bat! v1.61 on Windows 2000 5.0 Build 2195 Service Pack 2 -- Current version is 1.61 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html

Re: Marking messages as Read when replied.
Hello Daniel, I think I owe you a beer as well... :) Your message has just been assigned to my Very Important! Don't forget! colour group ;-) Perhaps I have misunderstood this paragraph, but, how do your filters look for threads you wish to ignore? This could be highly valuable if this does what I imagine it does. Can you mark a thread as irrelevant, and than have all those messages automatically filed as Read for example?... or...? Can I ask for another beer? ;-) Hmmm, I was quite sure I had once written a message explaining my Ignore filter, but I can't find it neither in my TBUDL folder nor in the list archives. I have found bits and pieces referring to it in different threads, but not the message I though I had written. Maybe I didn't Anyway, I'll explain. But first I will say that, although once set up it works quite well, it is not that easy or convenient to use. You will see why. As I say it is the first of my Incoming filters. Main Rule: Move from Inbox to Inbox. X Sender Yes Actions: Mark message as read Set message Colour Group to: Ignore (light gray). Options: Continue processing with other filters. Advanced: Nothing Alternatives: Here I include a number of sets, each one with a subject (or partial subject) or a message ID. For example, as I am not interested in PGP at all, one of the sets is: PGP Subject Yes When I include a MID, I usually include the MID of the first message in the thread. The cumbersome or not so easy part is adding a subject or MID to the alternatives. For a MID I have to: - show the RFC-822 headers of the message - look for MID - copy to clipboard - open Sorting Office and perhaps expand Incoming mail filters - select Ignore filter and its Alternatives tab - click on Add Set button - paste clipboard into Strings - select Kludges as location - and close See what I mean? That is why most of the times, when I see unread messages in a thread I am not interested in, I just Shift+Ctrl+M (one of the very few TB shortcuts I use). Actually, I did this Ignore filter mainly to prove the concept. I just wish TB would include a button (and a shortcut for those fond of shortcuts) to do what I describe above with a single click. In version 2 perhaps? One of these days I will install PowerPro and try to set up a macro, it's probably possible. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Re: Marking messages as Read when replied.
Hello Jonathan, I'm slightly confused. When/if I reply to an unread message without it being marked as read before I hit reply, but the time I have replied, it is marked as read... or did I miss something unusual in your setup? Account/Properties/Options. He probably has, like I do, both Mar message as read... options un-selected. If so, messages can only be marked as read manually. In my case, I want a message to be marked as read when *I have read it*, or when I decide I have read enough or that I don't want to read it at all. -- Best regards, Miguel A. Hi Melissa On Wednesday, November 27, 2002 11:16 our local time, Melissa Reese [MR] wrote; I'm currently evaluating the pro version of Avg and the bat plug-in, and i'm not sure i've done everything correctly. MR If you're looking to purchase an AV, I would recommend you look into MR something like NOD32 instead of AVG. NOD32 also has a TB! plug-in MR if that's something you want (it also has its own POP3 scanner, MR which I use instead of the TB! plug-in). Just wishing to add a bit to this from when I was looking for an AV before settling for DrWeb. I was in regular contact with a couple of companies regarding their AV products and NOD32 is soon to be changed. The POP3 scanner is to be replaced by a winsock layer and the GUI is being changed. The winsock layer will not just scan e-mails, but also everything you look at on the internet as it's a layer between the internet and your PC. This could potentially be very good, but not something I'd personally like, due to additional overheads etc. I'm sure it'll be very good with Eset's reputation, but only time will tell! Just my bit of input on the subject. Cheers, Chris. -- Created Using The Bat! V1.61 E-Mail Client and Virus Checked by DrWeb. That ought to be done with the import wizard: Tools - Import messages - Mailbox import wizard - Select the correct version I've been told that that takes care of the address book too. BTW You posted your message as a reply to another message. That's not the preferred behaviour on this list, because of TB's abilities. The Bat is able to thread messages properly, in order to see what I mean, just select the folder where you're storing the messages from this list. Go to the menu: view - view threads by - references. Now you'll see that all messages are lined up after the message to which they're first, second (or whatever) level replies to. You started what's essentially a new thread by replying to another message. That means it shows up as listed in another thread. Since people sometimes skip messages in threads they don't consider interesting (for lack of time). They might skip your message too, since they're not aware of the newly started thread. So next time you'd do yourself a favor by sending a new message in stead of a reply, because you're reaching a larger audience and one of those might have the answer you've been waiting for. -- Groetjes, Roelof Current version is 1.61 | Using TBUDL information: http://www.silverstones.com/thebat/TBUDLInfo.html
