The way to find the process is to switch to the task manager

found it to be a little programm called VSMON.exe.
The do a file search on your computer and it turns out that VSmon.exe is

Hello Marck,

O PGP-signed, but do not get ticked .

MNo, Thomas was being a little misleading there. TB does not
Msupport PGP/MIME. It only supports S/MIME. These tickmark
Micons are S/MIME signed message indicators. Nothing to do with
MPGP. I, in fact, usually sign my messages with GnuPG. This one
Mis signed with S/MIME just to ring the changes.

This message indeed did have the yellow tick in the icon.

(I had to go and find the contents of your message in the Source,
though, as described earlier: messages signed this way appear to
be empty but for the sig - in the digest, anyway).

Thanks for explaining - I will now upgrade to 1.62 hoping I won't

Registration is stored in windows registry 'HKCU' tree.
That's too the reason why registring per user is nececcary and not

All this does not mean entering registration data 40 times in a bigger

If I'd need 5 or 10 licences one day I'd beg RIT to code a network

As has been mentioned in reply to your message already, you should really
create a revoke key really, and back it up somewhere safe!

It would be interesting to know how many PGP users forgot or lost the
password to the their very first published key when they started using PGP
vbg Indeed, it would be interesting to know exactly how many 'abandoned'
keys are stored on the keys servers ;)

But to the point, I don't agree. Victor wasn't sporting any reference to a
key in his email so his sig couldn't be checked. If you don't want your
public key 'public' and want it contained for use only between a select few
then of course their is no purpose to publishing it to the keyservers, and I
would agree with you there. However, if you want to use a public key so that
anyone can contact you using PGP or verify your sig then I reckon publishing
is still the best method of distribution.

I have made my key available through my domain, and reference it in my email
sig. I have also published it on the keyservers so that my signature can be
quickly verified and my key imported should someone not wish to go to the
trouble of manually grabbing from my site before they can verify my sig.

In any event, if you want your keys to remain private then sure, don't
publish.

Trusted root certificate problem

2002-12-11 Thread Subhi S Hashwa
Hello tbudl,

I have a problem with connecting to TLS pop3 on secure.vhost.org

we have a certificate from Comodo
(from certificate)
CN = Comodo Class 3 Security Services CA
OU = (c)2002 Comodo Limited
OU = Terms and Conditions of use: http://www.comodo.net/repository
OU = Comodo Trust Network
O = Comodo Limited
C = GB

It doesnt seem to be a trusted CA by the BAT, but it works fine on IE,

Is there a way to make The Bat accept this certificate (add the root)
or the certificate itself somehow?

TIA

Yes, that is one of the problems.

But the unusual thing is you didn't find the one I currently use. That
has numerous email addresses on it, along with a couple of signnatures
verifying the key via friends, and long time contacts.

Did you upload it only recently? I checked only one server, maybe it
didn't have it yet. I searched for Angliss.

Apart from the first one, yes I did... I put them there ;) If I
didn't want the addresses publicly available, I'd never put them up

That's the other problem. But if you don't mind that, there is no

It should work without a problem.

* go to 'Users Passwords' in Control Panel
* Click on the 'Advanced' tab, then the Certificates button.
* Click on the 'Intermediate Certification Authorities' tab
* Highlight Comodo Class 3 Security Services CA in the list
* Click on Export and hit next button
 then:

* Select the radio button: Cryptographic Message Syntax Standard PKCS #7
  Certificates (.P7B)
* check: Include all certificates in certification path
* Browse to desktop or a folder and save the file

In The Bat!:

* Account/properties/Edit personal certificates.
* In the Certificates panel, click Import
* import the file you exported to the desktop

You must then follow the same procedure in TB! to import your Personal

You should have 3 entries in your certificate pane once you've imported the

MB Well, I think I'm not advanced enough for that yet. But thanks

I can't find the setting either.

However, there are ways out if you have to be within inches of the
screen to see what's happening.:)

= You could run at a lower screen resolution. About 7 years ago, a
640X480 screen resolution was pretty standard. Nowadays, it's
unusual to find a modern monitor running at less than 1024X768
  resolution.

What resolution are you running at? You could change to a lower
resolution and this will make everything seem larger.

= You could increase your font size system wide. You can do this by
going into your display properties and hitting the 'advanced'
  button under the 'Settings' tab.

If the font size selected is small, choose 'large fonts'. You'll
have to reboot for the changes to take effect.

If you're already using large fonts, then you can choose the
'custom setting..' option and manually increase the font size to
beyond 120%. Normal is 100% while large is 120%.

If you wish for me to clarify anything else please say so.

Going either route has its advantages.

If you change your resolution to a lower one, your screen elements
will not appear as sharp and your screen 'real estate' will
decrease. However, you do maintain font to window size and window
element size ratios.

OTOH, if you choose to increase font sizes beyond 100%, this could
have a bad effect with some programs that don't compensate for this.

As a result, you may see the text on buttons not fully visible since
the text is too big or the characters go beyond the provided space.

You could try both methods and see which one you prefer.

Good luck.

Folder template using address book FirstName

2002-12-11 Thread speedguy
Hi,

My requirement is as below,

(1)

- For each message in a particular folder, lookup sender's email address in
the address book and find FirstName
It is assumed that email address exists in the address book.

I am trying to do using Folder-Reply Template. What should be written for
below, that could do the trick

-
Hello %ABnnnPPP = ??

my message
-

(2)
Now when reply template is ready, I would like to reply each message in this
folder, so that reply directly goes in the Outbox
(instead of each reply message opening)

Thanks in advance :-)

It doesn't affect the font size used in configuration dialogs.

Make a change of font size using the option you just mentioned and
see what it does to the font size in the Display Properties dialog.

The font used there seems to be Sans Serif, size 8.

I can't duplicate your problems here.

TB! should just use your systems file associations to associated
.txt files with your editor. Your editors icon should therefore show
up in the TB! attachment bar. If there's a problem with this then
there may be a problem with your file associations setup.

As to the corruption of the text file. This is very odd.

In essence your wish amounts to an autoresponder in a filter. It's
rather easy.

Create a filter (make it a read messages filter)
Source folder is the folder you'd like to process.
Target folder is the same.
Search for @ present in the sender
Make the filter both active and manual only.
Now go to the 'actions' tab.
Scroll down to the 'send auto reply' option and select it
Click on the letter-icon, here you'll edit the template.
Use this in your template:
Hello %ABtoFIRSTNAME=%TOFNAME,
This inserts the first name from the AB and if that's lacking it uses
the first name part of the recipient of the new message.
Go to the 'advanced' tab
For the delivery option select 'Queue in Outbox'

Now select the folder you want to process,
right mouse button
select 'Re-filter messages'
Use read filters,
Select 'Read filters' and deselect the others
Also check 'manual filters only'

OK, that's it.

Hello Paul,

TF Many PGP users provide links to either their homepage where you can
TF download the key, or it is a mailto-link that will send a request mail
TF to them, with the request being handled automatically by TB filter.

PC I tried the mail filter to send my PGP key, but I wasn't able to follow
PC the directions, and I never got it working. I really don't want to put
PC up a web site to send it. Since PGP support is built-into TB, I wish
PC they would add a filter into the FAQ pages that allows you to send your
PC key ;)

If your address is [EMAIL PROTECTED] you can try either of the
following to help you out.

I noticed its important to add the mailto: link or else :(

mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=My%20PGP%20Keys

You'll get mail with the subject line My PGP Keys

or
mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]?subject=pgpbody=please%20send%20them

You'll get an e-mail with the subject = pgp
and the body will say = please send them

Maybe that can help you filter them :)

Also it might help to move that filter to the top or to the
bottom but you'll have to experiment on it ;)

I hope I helped

Hello Michael,

MR I recently purchased a laptop and have set up The Bat! on it (no

MR size of the text is very small.

Forgive me but why not try 1024x768 or a resolution
smaller than 1400x1050? You want your fonts bigger I
understand but why not ease your eyes all around if it can
help?

I also own a notebook and have been dealing with them for a

unfortunately my notebook at the current moment has a
resolution of 1024x768 but I have an extra monitor and and

Its my workaround :)

Re[3]: Trusted root certificate problem

2002-12-11 Thread Victor B. Gonzalez
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

Hello Subhi,

SSH Is there a way to make The Bat accept this certificate (add the root)
SSH or the certificate itself somehow?

I just got a Comodo certificate thanks to Simon Blake and it
took me about ten anguished minutes to install it. :| but
it's in and was just tricky... Heres how I did it.

In Internet Explorer I believe go to Tools Internet
 Options Content Certificates

Under personal certificates select your issued certificate
and click on export... I had to do this *twice* I'll
explain. Just export them to the same folder.

you'll be asked for a password somewhere just do not
 forget it

At the first prompt select yes, export the private key.
Leave the default radio button checked and check include
all certificates + enable strong protection click next.

 The rest should be easy...

Now do it again. Export no do not export private key and
select next. Leave DER as default and hit next. Locate
where you saved before and hit next.

You're done with IE feel free to shut it down.

Now in TB! go to account properties edit personal
certificates import... Do not import any one individually
import them both at the same time.

Now double click your newly installed certificates and look
at their profile. For all of them you'll do the same thing.

Click add to address book and say OK. Go to your
certification path and and highlight your parent
certificate and click add to trusted.

If its blanked out try the next certificate. Only one of
them has to get added to the trusted source for all of them
 to work.

I did it, it works and I am happy :)

Thanks Simon Blake for getting me started :)

Meyns As far as I understand, the certificate must be added to the Trusted Root
Meyns CA address book. Probably via New -- Contact, like in the other address
Meyns books. I haven't had the need to add a CA, yet, so it's only a guess... :-)

Man it was hell for me trying to go that route but if it
works for you or someone knows a trick let me know :)

Good luck Subhi :)
