Re: Filter / Folder Question

2020-12-02 Thread Jody Watts
Hello Stefan Tanurkov via TBUDL,

Thank you. I used The Bat for MANY years several years ago. I moved to a MAC so
I couldn't use it, but I have moved back to Windows so I'm back. I am
embarrassed to say, I forgot about the folders tab in the filter manager .. so
thanks for the push in the right direction!

Filter / Folder Question

2020-12-01 Thread Jody Watts
Hello tbudl@thebat.dutaint.com,

Is there a way to set ANY message, that is in a specific folder, as read.

Here is the scenario ..

At times I use a web based email or the browser built in email client (in
testing) to read email. When I delete a message from those sources, TheBat will
show it moved to the trash, but still shows it as unread. I would like any
message that is in the trash folder to be automatically marked as read.

 Hello Group

I have subscribed to the mailing list again because I think I may
have made a mistake moving from TB! to Barca 2 :-( I like the
integrated calendar but I miss TB!'s email.

So will TB! v3 work on Vista 64 does anybody know? It won't be
installed in Program Files but in D:\Apps to avoid all the silly UAC
issues. I'll end up with separate contacts/calendar but I think I
can live with that better than Barca email :-(

_

It works fine on Vista 64 (as that is what I am running).

Also, with the UAC .. you know you can change the level of prompts and
even disable it ... right?

Many thanks, that's good to know :-)

I know you can adjust UAC but it seems to me it's an honest attempt
to make Vista more secure so I will try and live with it.

 I see you are using v4 - should I upgrade from v3?

_

I would suggest upgrading because they did some work to make TheBat!
the default mail client in Vista .. and I think it went gold in v4.

(Someone correct me if I am wrong).

But either way, v4 is stable and working for me so you should be fine.

It gives the illusion of making Vista more secure, however the problem
with it is that the alerts pop up so frequently and in so many trivial
situations that it is self defeating. For example, you go to the
Control Panel and make a change. When Vista attempts to make the
change you have requested up pops UAC and suggests that someone is
trying to make a change to the system (remember it was you, the user
that logged in, that wants to do it) and asks you to allow it. You end
up allowing things so much that you become programmed to simply allow
 every such query.

So users think that the system is more secure, but ultimately it is
the user that allows or disallows things so it is not Vista that is
making things more secure. Vista is actually the paranoid one
quivering in the corner asking you to make the decisions it is too
afraid of making :-) A great marketing ploy.

_

lol. I didn't go that far in explaining it, but your right. It is
STILL only as secure as the human behind the keyboard [is smart].

That is why I disabled it and I find that several of the people /
places computers that I support as still just as messed up ..
because as you said, they just hit yes and never read or think about
it.

I hope someone can help me. I keep getting a message:
!4/9/2001, 22:08:27: FETCH - Connection to host broken (last commands sent were: "RETR

This started about a week ago. When it happens, most of the mail from

checks mail, it will download the same messages, fails again and so the
cycle continues. It is definitely NOT the mail server, or the NIC in
my computer. I can use LookOut (Outlook) and it works fine from my
computer, and I can use the bat from another computer and it works
fine (on the same mail server). I backed up my mail, uninstalled the
bat and reinstalled and that fixed the problem. Then when I download
1.52beta4, it started again and even when I went back to 1.52beta3, it
is still happening.

Any one have any answers ??

Re[2]: Mouse Select

2000-07-26 Thread Jody Watts

On Wednesday, July 26, 2000, 9:31:00 AM, [EMAIL PROTECTED] tickled the keyboard
keys
on the subject of "Mouse Select". My response follows:

No, but you can click on the first message and hold the Shift key and
click on the last message, _then_ move them where you want.

Also in place of the Shift key, you could use the Control key to "Pick
out" messages individually.

Hope this helps ...

I suppose I didn't make myself too clear. What I would like to do is to
click and hold the left mouse button while I drag the cursor down the list
of messages, and then release it , and had have all of the messages the
cursor passed over highlighted. Then move the cursor to the wastebasket to
 delete them.

SL You were clear. No, cannot be done. As I said, this isn't OS/2.
