Any good software recommendation which work nicely together with TB?

Yes, there are the sent mails.

It will only be sent to you separately from the mailing list if
 you cc yourself!

That's plain stupid, because I am using Mailman's setting:

Receive your own posts to the list? Yes

and therefore should get my own list mails from the mailinglist
server.

Obviously Gmail is deleting this right away without letting the user
know this beforehand.

Concerning my problem with a certificate error:

FETCH - TLS handshake failure. Invalid server certificate (The
issuer of this certificate chain was not found).

I resolved this with deleting the RootCA.ABD-file from my TB-Mail
directory and restarting TB. TB seems to recreate this addressbook
and now the error does not show up.

What I don't like with Gmail is, it does not sends one's own mails
to mailinglists back to you. This is IMO quite annoying.

Macro for automatically detect NamePrefix

2005-08-02 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

I am thinking of using a macro which automatically detects if an
addressbook entry has a NamePrefix and then uses e.g. Hello

Is this possible to do with %IF? I do not see a possibility to detect
if a addressbook field is empty...

Automatic moving messages to archive folder

I am wondering if it is somehow possible to have TB automatically use
filters to move parked messages to an archive folder.

I have a couple of mailinglist folders where I park interesting
messages for further reference. I have a few manual read-filters for
these folders, moving parked messages older than 10 days to the
specific archive.

Would these filters do the same when I remove the manual tag?

And would it be possible to create a one filter doing the same for all
folders?

Copying complete filter set to another account

2004-12-04 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

I am just wondering if there is a method to copy one's complete set of
filters to another account instead of copying them one by one...

Any ideas?

Re: K9 spam filter

2004-11-30 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

My filter looks like this:

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [564C1620.01C4B05E.1A441C3F.7FE14B3D]
Name: SPAM
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`5`0`X-Text-Classification:\20junk\0D\0A}
MoveMessage folder \5C\5C\5C$JUNK$
MarkRead
SetColour 226723330
IsActive
Ignore
IsSendQueue
endFilter

and it works perfectly. It is the last filter in a list of *account*
filters.

It has nothing to do with K9, but this common filter works, too:

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [9E420870.01C4ADF9.5ED08BA5.73489440]
Name: junk
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`4`2`Get\20a\20capable\20html\20e-mailer\0D\0A}
SetColour 1981009950
MoveMessage folder \5C\5C\5C$JUNK$
MarkRead
IsActive
Ignore
endFilter

BTW, is there a way to let TB display the filters in a more readable
and accessible format?

Known filter...

2004-10-09 Thread Thorvald Neumann
Hæ!

I am experiencing something strange.

I activated a Known filter for one account which uses:

 TB! Message Filter
beginFilter
UID: [F41F9220.01C4A5F6.4920F440.19A28B47]
Name: Known
Filter: {\0D\0A\20`11`0`0`0\0D\0A}
MoveMessage folder \5C\5CMyAccountName\5CInbox\20-\20Known
IsContinue
IsActive
Ignore
IsSendQueue
endFilter

It is set before my SPAM-filters get active (so the known filter is
the last filter for valid emails).

I now and then receive some emails which get sorted to specific
folders before they get in touch with the known filter, but somehow
the known filter kicks in and re-sorts those mails into the known
folder.

Anybody else experienced this behaviour?

In v1.xx und v2.xx it worked eithout such annoyances.

Do your other filters have Continue Processing with other Filters

Yes, sure.

If they do then this is what should happen. Yes/No.

I do not think so, at least from my old view how filters worked in
OFS. I did not set up new filters when I upgraded from v2.xx to v3.xx;
I am still using my old setup (which I had to tweak in v3).

E.g.:

I have got an email from a contact which is in my addressbook, but he
is also on a mailinglist.

I have set my filters up to first check if any email is send to a
mailinglist. If this is true, it should be moved from the inbox to a
specific list folder. If untrue, the next filter should take over. At
the end of the filter list, I have my known filter.

If now the sender is in my address book and on the same mailinglist,
the mail does get moved from the mailinglist folder to the Inbox -
Known-folder. Which wasn't the case in v1.xx and v2.xx, where it
resided happily in the folder where the first filter put it.

It seems the Known filter checks all new messages, irrevelant where
the new messages are, even when they are already moved out of the
Inbox before it is its turn.

Or do I have to specify a Source Folder for the Known filter in NFS
now?

Of course. If I hit Reply, it automatically uses the

If I use Reply to all, the sender is placed in To:, the list address

There is no Reply to original sender.

That's what is happening here for years now.

I do not see what this should have to do with folder templates.

The only bad thing that TB does with it is to munge the list
 address with the recipient name.

So you agree to my point? ;)

Yes, but what's wrong with it? It gives a nice overview who wrote what

Let me teach people to use the software safely without misguided

Sorry, I see your lecture as a completely misguided and this leads to

Yes, I know how this works. I have experimented with that before.

%To=address adds the address in the macro

 %To=%To=%ofromname '[EMAIL PROTECTED]' removes the
address and changes it to the list address.

This will catch the passing user.

For new messages, the same problem lies when using mailto: url's

If you add %To=[EMAIL PROTECTED] to your folder's new message

when you do not have accented characters in your mail, TB will use
 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii and
Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit because your mail can be displayed
with these settings. If you use accented characters like é or â TB will
use the character set you defined in your settings.

You can override this with a small macro in your templates:

%CHARSET=characterset

Me neither, but I just searched one of my archives with more than 5000
mails and there seem to be around 30 without MIDs.

Is it possible to search for messages which *do not* contain a certain
search string (let's say Message-Id)?

Why are folder templates a curse?

So far (== the last five years), they have been a blessing for me...

At least when the filters are working... ;)

I just searched for Message-ID in the header... And the search told
me e.g. 5030 and when the archive folder contains 5060 mails, the rest
must be without MID. ;)

So I just got the number of mails without MID.

Hmmmh, perhaps I should just create a filter and refilter the
messages...

Yes, that's where the message waits for reading/deleting or
reading/replying.

Just wondering: Aren't you always in the right folder? ;)

Hæ!

I am using folder templates mainly for official standard and/or
mailinglist communications (next to Account Templates). I do not see
anything bad about that. I guess adding AB templates for each
mailinglist member is a tedious task... ;)

I am using AB templates only for special people which need a special
treatment... ;)

And yes, I meant filters... because I sort mail automatically into
the right folders...

The original message window will retain the focus on the folder from
which you opened the message window. And so it will use the folder
templates from its parent folder.

 That's the 'danger zone'.

I do not know why this should be *the* danger zone.

What's bad is what happens when you try to write to someone off-list.

I manually pick the address from the From: and insert it (I have
always done this this way)... This works estonishingly well... ;) And
the recipient should see my mailinglist sig.

I never thought about an easier solution...

Your folder template forces it right back onlist and there you are,
 facial egg neatly applied.

Sorry, it is not the fault of the template but merely of the
Reply-To which many mailinglists automatically generate (and that's
good).

And it has so far worked for me and will surely work in five years or
more, too.

Better still, put it in a group called lists and define a single
 group template for all them!

That's a nice idea. I never thought on that, must be there are a lot
of different topic lists which need it

Well, that's /one/ way to do it...

As you demonstrated, there is at least /one/ other way to do it... ;)

And how do you sort your cursor into the right folder?

Manually. If I want to read mails from one list, I click on the folder
et voilà, the mails appear in the message pane. ;)
