Hi, I used the e-mail provider GMX for almost a week now and must say that I'm very satisfied. Thanks for the tip. As I want to have the ability to send and receive large e-mails (with attachments) I'm considering to take an GMXPro account. Can you recommend this?. It's certainly not very expensive. I send and receive large attachments to/from customers at work. Most of them have broadband connections, or at least fast flat-rate connections. It's not common to provide them a link. Add the software side, and don't calculate only initial cost for buying, but also installation time, administration, configuration to fit in the existing model and you're at 20-30k US$ for a _real_ server. TF GMX does add the character into mails received via my pro-account. :-( That's a reason to write to them. It may be critical for you to verify signatures and they make this quite impossible with this insert. So _you_ as a aping customer are in a situation to give them hard facts why this have to be changed. What shall a non-paying user tell them? I don't like it? It destroys PGP-signatures and they are important to me? For critical issues I don't rely on a cost-free service, so this is not an argument. This insert is done for the POP-toaster (or IMAP-Server) to be able to recognize this 'From' starting line is _not_ the beginning of a new message. In MBOX files a new message is recognized by a line starting 'From ', therefore a 'From ' line within the message is escaped with this annoying ''. While the mail is transported via SMTP it is not necessary to escape this line as SMTP describes the end of a message as 'Newline.Newline' and therefore only lines containing only a singel dot, but belonging to message body are _temporarily_ escaped, but you won't recognize this as this is undone when arriving the last SMTP. OK, I try again to be heard: From different mails we've seen to this issue and the fact I do _know_ GMX uses more than one server I came to the conclusion they are using either different software on different servers or different versions of the same software or simply different configurations on different servers. So not all insert that '', but some seem to need it for _secure_ message storing. The '' is not a thing of let's annoy some people but there were times and software that _needed_ it for secure message storing and re-retrieving. So if there're some 'old' servers that run such a software you can't do anything against this except changing server or software. And we all should know, this is a realy expensiv thing to do and therefore maybe this server will run until they have to be substituted anyway. If I had a 'Pro' account I'd expect them to make sure my mails reach me uneffected, because it could be important in case of e.g. a PGP or S/MIME signature. Hi, I'm using, as you see, Yahoo for my email. I have never any problems with it. In the past I used Hotmail which is really s..t. When I post a message to this list then it takes a while (an hour or sometimes two days) to see my posting appearing in the list. Sometimes I receive the replies much earlier. Strange. Some say that this is a problem of Yahoo. But what if I never experienced this problem in other lists?. Is it really Yahoo or could the problem be at the side of this list?
