I've cleared the existing shortcut that used space, but as I couldn't
even assign the key I can't see how that could have been the problem.

[later]

I've just tried with another - in use - shortcut and it allowed me to
do that.

I think that this is a bug. I've posted something in TBBETA asking if
someone else could try using SPACE as a new shortcut.

Eg

Can't you just use a regexp to do that? Something like .*\.com\.tw
should do it (I think).

Q: Moving folders

2002-02-27 Thread Stuart Hemming

I know I can move folders up and down but can I move them side to
side? For example, I have

-Web Stuff
 |- Mail list 1
 |- Mail List 2
- SQL Stuff
 |- Mail list 3

I want to add a new folder called, say "work stuff" as a home for the
above, so I would end up with,

-Work Stuff
 |-Web Stuff
   |- Mail list 1
   |- Mail List 2
 |- SQL Stuff
   |- Mail list 3

But I can't figure out how. Is it possible?

More Moving Folders

2002-02-28 Thread Stuart Hemming

I've tried to send this as a reply a couple of times but it doesn't
seem to be getting on to the list.

PP> Have you tried moving one of the four/five standard folders
No, I was using folders I'd created

PP> Seems you have misunderstood my mail: not alone, but PP>
_additionally_ to keeping pressed. OK, but + doesn't
do it. As I said elsewhere, That does nothing. Actually, that's not
true, as I start to move the pointer shows the outline of a document,
but when I let go of the mouse button the highlight jumps back to the
original folder which remains unmoved.

PP> What's this thing you call 'local hierarchy'???
OK, by that I mean the structure under a top level folder. I've got

//Account
-Jobs
-Prog
|-Internet
 |-Webref
|-SQL Stuff
 |-Wire
 |-Central

The structure under "prog" what I mean by a "local" hierarchy. If I
try and manipulate this structure I can manipulate "Central" so that
it is a child of "Wire" or promote it to be a child of "Prog". I can
even promote it to be a child of "//Account". This is a good thing.
I've just discovered that I can promote *past* "//Account" to make it
a common folder, cool! I can do these things with any folder that is
INITIALLY CREATED as a child of another folder.

However, "Jobs" was created as a child of "//Account" and whilst I can
move it up and down the tree, I CANNOT promote it to common folder or
demote it to be the child of any other folder.

I suppose that, as a workaround, I could ensure that all new folders
are created as, say, a child of "inbox" and then moved to where they
need to be but it'd be nice if all (or all but the "system" folders)
acted in a consistent manner.

PP> If it doesn't you're doing something wrong or missing something
I could believe that! I've only been using the software for 7 days.

Using IMAP

2003-08-14 Thread Stuart Hemming
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I'm currently still on v1.63b11. I want to use the new version but I'm
unsure about what I'm going to end up with.

I get my office mail from an exchange server that doesn't have POP3
enabled so I get my mail using the old IMAP implementation and
everything works just as I want it to.

Now, if I move to v2b1 am I right in thinking that all the mail is
going to stay on the server? I /don't/ want this as I often work from
home and don't want to have to either dial in to reread a message or
to export it so I can read it later.

Our exchange server has a huge collection of folders only a handful of
which I'm interested in. Do I have to let TB! tell me about all the
crud as well as the bits of the folder hierarchy that I'm interested
in?

I use a lot of common folders to keep mail in and, ATM, incoming mail
is automagically sorted by my filters. I understand that auto
filtering of incoming messages currently doesn't work. Can I manually
filter? Will auto filtering work soon? (I guess only the developers
can answer that).

I just did it and it 'found' 30 folders. After backing up I exited TB!
and restarted up. I had duplicates of my 2 main account folder turn
up. Never mind, thought I, I'll just zap 'em. And zap 'em I did. Only
when I went to my original account folder and clicked on inbox the
message count dropped to zero, same for sent mail and trash. A quick
restore fixed everything though.

Just as a point of interest, I get 1 lost folder found each time I do
ctrl-shift-alt-L now but the folder never turns up.

Rather than location=everywhere including attachments it might be
better to have a separate, new, 'location' option;
location=attachments. Then you existing filters would work as now
without any additional overhead and if you wanted to include
attachment filenames in your filter criteria you just set up and
alternative using the new location option.

The logic behind not filtering attachments is /not/ necessarily sound;
it's just incompletely thought through.

It appears that this scheme won't work for a simple reason; if you
change a message's colour group in a filter that change isn't
recognised by any other filters until the message is saved.

Re: MyGate 2.6

2004-01-16 Thread Stuart Hemming
-BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-
Hash: SHA1

I want to subscribe to news on more than one server. Am I right in
thinking I need to set up a TB! account for each one (server that is,
not group)?

I've set up MyGate but I don't seem to be able to receive anything. My
set up is as follows:

POP3>NNTP
Local Port:1701
Server: msnews.microsoft.com:119

SMPT>NNTP
Local Port:1702
Server: msnews.microsoft.com:119

TB! Account Transport
POP:
 Server:localhost
 Port:1701
 Connection:Regular
 User/password are filled in

SMTP:
 Server:localhost
 Port:1702
 Connection:Regular

If I go into MyGate and open up the POP3>NNTP entry and click on
'Available Groups / update List' I get a list of newsgroups which
suggest that MyGate is talking to the server.

I've subscribed to 2 newsgroups; one with a 'normal' subscription and
one with N=10. When I click on Get New Mail on the relevant account in
TB! I get the following:

,- [ ]
| 16/01/2004, 09:48:45: FETCH - receiving mail messages !16/01/2004,
| 09:48:46: FETCH - Could not connect to the server
`-

I'm more than prepared to concede that I'm doing something wrong, I
just don't know what. Can anyone help? Please?

Backup has, restore won't!

2003-02-25 Thread Stuart Hemming
I backed up my installation before doing a reinstall.

I've tried to restore from it and it has...

 1. created the accounts
 2. brought in the contents of the 5 'standard' folders
 3. restored the address book
 4. restored all the filters

It /hasn't/...
 1. created any other folders in the accounts
 2. restored any of the common folders

Questions:
 1. is there any way of getting at all of my messages?
 2. why did this happen?
 3. can I rely on backup?

The backup file is a little over 9Mb big. If anyone can work on it I'd
love to hear from you.

Macro to switch macros...

2003-02-28 Thread Stuart Hemming
I have an office account which collects mail from the exchange server
in the office, and a home account which collects POP3 mail from my
ISP.

When I'm working from home, I send all mail out via my ISP. However, I
have some templates that have the %REPLYTO macro set to my office
account but when I'm working from home I want that to change to that
address.

Is this possible?

No. My company's exchange server cannot be reached from outside.
Similarly, I can't access my home account's pop3 server from the

Indeed.

The problem comes in that I have templates associated with an address

TF> Strange. It worked at my last company.
It's just the way thay have things locked down here.

TF> IF:%Account="work":%ReplyTo="workaccount":%ReplyTo="homeaccount"
I assumed that there was supposed to be a leading '%'

I put in the name of my work account in to the macro and created a new
message from my /work/ account. The message with the value of ReplyTo
set to 'homeaccount' and the message body contained the line ReplyTo="workaccount":

I got exactly the same result when creating a message from my home

MDP> %IF:'%Account'='work':'%ReplyTo="workaccount"':'%ReplyTo="homeaccount"'
I'm getting a slightly better result than with Thomas' suggestion in
that the value of 'Reply-To' is changing but there's not the spurious
text in body.

Unfortunately it always seems to fail the test. I've got the
comparison value case perfect but it never seems to match.

Interestingly, I made my template look like this...

Account=%Account

ACCOUNT=%ACCOUNT

END

And the results, from both accounts were:

Account=

ACCOUNT=

END

I guess that explains why the test fails, but can you spot and answer
the obvious question?

Filters not firing

2003-03-03 Thread Stuart Hemming
I've got a 'read messages' filter that, for messages in a particular
colour group, moves a message to a different folder. It works a treat,
except, if I mark as read an entire thread. The whole thread was in
the colour group but stayed put when marked using ctrl-shift-m. I had
to mark them all unread and then mark the read individually to get
them to move.

Is this right?
