Saving changes

2009-09-17 Thread David Krider

I've setup mGTD on my own server, and it's working out really well.
However, I wonder if I've missed something. I'd love to have instant
saves on every change, but I don't think that's possible. However,
what
I'm looking for at the moment is to somehow streamline the saving
process. Right now, I've loaded up the plugins that allow me to use
the
backstage | upload feature. The problem is that I have to click,
upload, save, and then close and close to make a complete
cycle.
Because I'm using this between several machines, and because my job
involves using MANY open windows of my browser doing (sometimes)
dangerous things (which cause the browser to lock up and force me to
kill it), I'd like to make this process more transparent. I know I
could
run this under a different browser and reduce a lot of the problem,
but
this is causing me to wonder about the bigger picture.

Thanks for mGTD!

Tobias,

Wonderful stuff

This should go on the tiddlyhub, the plugin repository.

Alex

 Hey folks,

 I updated http://lastfm.tiddlyspot.com#RatingMacro

You can now rate a remote tiddler and (as Alex was asking for it)
define tiddlers which you want to update whenever a new rating is
 applied.

Look here for new information on how to use those parameters:
 http://lastfm.tiddlyspot.com#RatingMacroInfo

I also RENAMED the scripts for retrieving lists of ratings... they're
now called ListRating and RatingSummary (instead of GetRating and
 GetRatingOverview).

 Enjoy, Tobias.

[tw] How do I make popups follow scrollbox??

2009-09-17 Thread Måns

Hi TwWizards

I've made a list of tiddler ShowPopup with: [[TiddlerName]] etc's
I've put in inside another tiddler with ScrollBox like this:
@@display:block;height:10em;overflow:auto;[[ListTiddlerName]]
display:block;text-align:right;^^scroll for more...^^@@

Then I've put the ScrollBoxtiddler in the topmenu inside yet another
ShowPopupbutton.
Like this:
tiddler ShowPopup with: ScrollBoxTiddler [[List of tiddlers]]
[[Click on titles to watch the tiddlers here]] button 250px sticky

It all looks very well - but -
When I scroll down and click a tiddlerpopuplink - the popup opens far
below (where the link would be in the list if it wasn't embedded in a
ScrollBox)...

I wan't the list to be in a scrollbox - so How do I make the popus
follow???

I would try to access your site from an other computer without
entering the password, and than check if such attempts would be
 reported by Google.

Or you might get Firebug and watch the Net tab for requests to GA.
If you tell me the URL, I can take a quick look.

I'm fairly sure only presents a static 401 page (i.e. entirely unrelated
to whatever TiddlyWiki document is stored at that location).

I'm using Erics TaggedTemplateTweakPlugin very much..

I was wondering if it was possible to extend it's functionalty to be
able to run the custom viewtemplates on a remote tiddler (still
referring to the related fields in the remote tiddler - therefore
internal iframe)?
I recon the syntax could be something like this:
tiddler(Iframe) MediaViewTemplate with: [[RemoteTiddler]]

- or is there already a way to iframe a single local tiddler into
another tiddler with a custom template?

If you tell me the URL, I can take a quick look.

Marc has sent me the URL.
As predicted, all I get is a static 401 page that does not trigger any
Google Analytics requests.

So I can think of a few explanations:
* someone in Brazil has guessed your password
* your own visits are mistakenly being registered as coming from Brazil
* Google Analytics is misconfigured somehow, counting requests from
   other locations

None of those seem very likely, so there might well be other, less
obvious explanations.

In order to test in any kind of useful way, I need a *minimal* test
case that demonstrates the problem *and* eliminates as many causes as
possible.  Typically this is done by installing the suspected plugin
in an empty TW, (as cmari did), so that I can immediately try a
*simple* test case, without needing to suss what the rest of the
document is about or how it has been customized.  Of course, some
problems aren't reproducible with a simple test case, so the fully-
customized document *must* be used, but this should be avoided if at
 all possible.

When a truly minimal test case document is available, I am more likely
to reproduce the problem and find a solution within a few minutes, as
compared to the hour or two that was spent unsuccessfully
 investigating Mans' highly-customized document.

... and, indeed, I've found the problem with this plugin and have
 fixed it...

[tw] newline syntax for QuickEdit replace plugin?

Has anyone figured out how to find the newline character with

I'm really enjoying the productivity gains from Eric's

It's great having find and replace editing in the tiddler without
having to open up an external text editor.
But sometimes I replace new lines and I have yet to figure out what
the syntax is to put in the find field.

I've tried:
\n
\\n
'\n'
\n
\u0085

any ideas?

Hi Jadderley

I have succesfully implemented N.E.W.S by Yamm Perrin in my TW

You can see it working here: http://twgroup.tiddlyspot.com
(Sorry it's in Danish - but on the other hand the original is in
french (optionally in English))

It overrides the Defaulttiddlers and shows the tiddlers tagged with
Blog that You haven't read since last time you opened the TW... It
must be cookies that remembers what you read in the browser.. Try to
reload - and open it again - delete cookies form the page and try
again - or open it in another browser..

On 17 Sep., 22:08, jadderley tjadder...@telus.net wrote:

Shouldn't be a problem, I've figured out how to modify the journal
code to include seconds, so it is possible to make (in theory) 86 400
journal entries in a 24 hour period. THE TRICK is managing to include
journal entries for today into the default tiddlers. This has to be a
malleable entry, because today changes from day to day. when you load
(or restart) the tiddlywiki page, you need to be able to see all the
journal entries that have been created today.

Now there are plugins that are said to do this, and maybe they work
for some specific version of tiddlywiki that I am unaware of. they
don't work for the newest version (2.5.3) unless I'm doing something
wrong. I have tried a DefaultTiddlersTweak with
 config.shadowTiddlers.DefaultTiddlers=new Date().formatString(0DD-
MMM-); in the tiddler, which is the only one that seems to
actually work, but it only brings up the most recent tiddler, not all
tiddlers for the day. I tried to download the AutoOpenTiddlersPlugin,
but Lewcid's stuff is off limits it seems. I even tried Clint
Checkett's WeblogPlugin, which should have been perfect as it's
designed to do exactly that, but doesn't seem to work at all for some
reason. Then I tried the BlogViewPlugin that seems to be a variation
of the AutoOpenTiddlersPlugin, but nothing again. Nothing seems to
work. I try blanking the DefaultTiddlers, I try deleting the
DefaultTiddlers, I'm out of ideas. Is it the upgraded code? does it
work for anyone else? Am I missing some integral simple thing that
only a moron could miss? Any advise would be appreciated.

[tw] Re: Blog plugins - can't find one that works

2009-09-17 Thread Måns

Skye, Shavinder and Eric Shulman have develloped a very nice plugin
called quicknotes http://www.tiddlytools.com/#QuickNote
Read about it here:
http://groups.google.com/group/tiddlywiki/browse_thread/thread/8a0506f78361a8c2

It works as a charm - and is *very* easy to install...

Shouldn't be a problem, I've figured out how to modify the journal

journal entries in a 24 hour period. THE TRICK is managing to include
journal entries for today into the default tiddlers. This has to be a
malleable entry, because today changes from day to day. when you load
(or restart) the tiddlywiki page, you need to be able to see all the
journal entries that have been created today.

Now there are plugins that are said to do this, and maybe they work
for some specific version of tiddlywiki that I am unaware of. they
don't work for the newest version (2.5.3) unless I'm doing something
wrong. I have tried a DefaultTiddlersTweak with
 config.shadowTiddlers.DefaultTiddlers=new Date().formatString(0DD-
MMM-); in the tiddler, which is the only one that seems to
actually work, but it only brings up the most recent tiddler, not all
tiddlers for the day.

2009-09-17 Thread jadderley

Hey Mans,

The trick is that this is intended as an event whiteboard. Journal
Entries created for the current date need to stay visible when the
page is refreshed, for easy reference, until the tiddlers are manually
deleted. If they were to disappear after the first viewing, it
wouldn't be a workable option. Is there a way to tweak the code to
keep current tiddlers visible when refreshed?

[tw] Re: Blog plugins - can't find one that works

2009-09-17 Thread jadderley

I've discovered that while browsing the froup...I thought someone else
~had~ to have run across this before as well. It does work like a
charm! I've already added it to my tiddlywiki. But it also doesn't fix
the issue of keeping the recent quicknotes on the page when the page
is refreshed. Some code needs to replace the default tiddlers code at
startup to show tiddlers that have been added today, where today is
the current date. And there are ample plugins designed to do that out
there, but none of them seem to work when imported. it's not me
forgetting to change the variables, I've made sure of that. Yet they
all seem to fall flat when tested.

[tw] Re: Help with porting code to a TW plug-in

2009-09-17 Thread Eric Shulman

I am new to TiddlyWiki but an impressed with it's usefulness.  I am in
need of help porting a piece of open-source Javascript code to work in
TW, assuming it would be possible to do so.
I am also willing to make a donation or pay a reasonable fee to have
this done. The code is available at this
 web-site:http://www.sprymedia.co.uk/article/KeyTable.

Let me know if you are interested in helping me out!

Although not *stored* as a table
   http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#SliceGridPlugin
*generates* and renders tables corresponding to values stored in
tiddler slices, and includes an edit-in-place feature that allows you
to change slice values directly from the table.

[tw] Question: Viewing tiddlers in read only mode

2009-09-17 Thread Shankar

Hello,

I would like to toggle back and forth between the normal viewing and
read-only viewing.

What I would like IDEALLY is having a radio button in the SiteSubtitle
area to toggle between the two modes so that when I am trying to read
the content and accidentally double click (most times, while trying to
highlight something) it does not annoy me by going into the edit mode.

I searched through the old postings and did not find anything useful.
I would appreciate some pointers to doing this.

Thanks.

Cheers; 'best,

[tw] limiting search by tag

plugins and other irrelevant stuff). The SimpleSearchPlugin apparently
includes tag matching (v0.4.0), but I can't figure out how to employ
that, or if it's even what I'm looking for. I'm not at the point yet
where I can just read the code and figure out what it does.

Thanks for any suggestions!

[tw] Re: limiting search by tag

2009-09-17 Thread Anthony Muscio
See,

http://www.TiddlyTools.com/#GotoPluginhttp://www.tiddlytools.com/#GotoPlugin

And use the format

gotoTiddler search filter:contact

This searches all tiddler Titles for the text and tagged Contact. The Search
option that becomes available within Goto does not restrict its results to
those tagged contact. But often if you have not found a tiddler with the
text in the title you do want to search all including content.

For cases like tiddlers titled contact name and tagged contact this is
perfect and very fast.

[tw] Need Help Updating Please

2009-09-17 Thread Mgal

Greetings all,
I seem to have run into a little snag. I haven't updated my
Tiddlywiki engine since 2007, and getting back into it I updated my
wiki locally to v2.5.3 BUT for some I can't seem to upload it to my
tiddlyspot site, I have the username set correctly in the advanced
options, and the password but it always get stuck at the 'about to
upload' step. I can provide people with my file and/or any
information you would need to help me troubleshoot. My appreciation
in advance.

Alice

[tw] Re: newline syntax for QuickEdit replace plugin?

2009-09-17 Thread Anthony Muscio
Thanks also for that helpful update Eric,

Not with standing that, tiddlywiki users with firefox can also use the
Plugin It's All Text to open any HTML edit field; eg; a tiddler in edit
mode, opened in an editor of choice. I use Notepad++ Portable, or PFE32 (old
school), but for some kinds of columns wise editing try SPFLite the author
says;
Welcome to SPFLite*
Why did I bother creating SPFLite?

*
*Well, I was just getting frustrated after trying out just about every
Windows PC Editor I could lay my hands on. They were all character stream
oriented editors and what I wanted was a line oriented editor like the 'good
old' SPF editor I had used most of my career.
*

SPFLite also has a great feature where you can edit something already in the
clipboard and it pasts it back to the clipboard. The main trick with SPFLite
is you could replace spacespace with space but only in columns 10 thru 20.

Anyways, just some shared tips.

[tw] Re: Done/Close problem

2009-09-17 Thread Anthony Muscio
If some one is looking at Done/Close perhaps they can find away to make it
work when the tiddler is new or the title is renamed.

It never closes for me if the tiddler name changes. I can provide more info
to someone doing this.
